First off - I am really thankful for my good reflexes - I've always considered myself a good driver and I know that I've always had excellent reflexes and reaction time when driving...here's how it served me well last night...

I was driving home after watching "The L Word" at a friend's house - it's about 11:30 at night - not a lot of traffic - and I made a wrong turn - but it was no big deal since it just meant that i had to take a different way home than I had planned....

Well I was driving through a construction zone - one lane each way with a lot of construction in between the lanes...

Well I'm driving along and I see lots of police lights in the on-coming lane....well they're chasing some guy - who then veer into my lane....now it's one little lane - nothing but a large hole on one side and a sidewalk on the other - the guy is coming right toward me along with two cop cars - there was a moment of confusion - you know like when you almost run into someone walking and there's that akward "dancing" moment...

Well I veered off to one side - my tire did hit the sidewalk pretty bad - but it's okay - and the guy and cops missed me by like a mere inch....then like six other cop cars went speeding by in the correct lane....

So once my heard started beating again I went on my merry way home...

It was pretty scary seeing these cars coming right at you at top speed - I am just thankful that someone was totally watching out for me last night :D

Oh did I forget to mention that part ;)

Just kidding -it was totally scary - I mean I the wind from the guy's speed shook my car - not as bad as had it been hit head on by him....but yeah - it was scary I was shaking all the way home....and I was SOOOO happy to be home to see my Clancy...

can be summed up easily:

On Oct.19,1989 as my two first cousins were driving to the bank to make a deposit dropoff for my cousin Wendy's employer (She was a asst.manager for Arby's) when the Muskogee PD chased a couple of drunken asstards (These drunk-f**ks decided to pull a practical joke on an elderly lady who called to complain about the noise from the party these drunks were attending after confronting 'em, So they decided to get out of their car and run up onto this ladies porch and kick her front door...So she called the PD and stated that "Someone is trying to break in and hurt me"...So the MPD in the area was arriving in the area on the first complaint of loud noise when they spotted the drunks kicking the door and the chase started) out into a busy intersection.

The speed at which this IDIOT cop chased these drunks reached in excess of over 100MPH (The drunks were in a late 60's/early 70's 'souped-up' Chevy Camaro) when he chased them into a busy intersection, to which the Camaro hit a slight dip in the road and went airborne striking my cousin's car on the passenger side at full speed, Crushing over the top of her car and pushing both vehicles into the building on the corner (The local Employment agency office).

My cousin Wendell (Who was 4 days younger than me) & another innocent passenger were crushed to death instantly, My cousin Wendy was pulled from the car but she died upon arrival (DOA) to the Muskogee Regional Hospital.

The f-tard driving the Camaro died at the scene (Bled to death) as the officer approached the wreck, Stating that the driver was "Still trying to shift his car into gear as he bled to death" and his passenger (Upon impact) was thrown from his front seat, through that seat and landed in the back seat area, Thus breaking his neck in the process...He was the only survivor.

This whole mess caused a major lawsuit since it was never determined it the officer in pursuit had his lights/sirens on or not (There were no witnesses to the actual wreck except for Officer "Barney Fife", But residents in the area of the original complaint said the police car did have the lights/sirens on as the chase started and knew he was chasing the drunks into a busy intersection.)

First of all, thank God you are okay, Deanna. Yep, your Angel was on high alert for sure!

Second of all..I just read an article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram about twinless twins! Very interesting...and I've always been so fascinated with twins anyways. I'll bet your Angel is your twin. :)

Oh Brian - I'm so sorry -what a horrible story - reading that I know I was really lucky.

I also have a horror story - In May about 6 years ago - a guy I know had just graduated (with honors) and was taking his cousin home....meanwhile the cops were chasing down this stupid 17 year old girl who'd stolen her daddy's truck and was known to have pot on her....

Then chased her through the intersection that Michael and his cousin were innocently going through - smashing his car - Michael died on impact and his cousin was seriously injured -but she came through.

I remain good friend's with Michael's mother who had to go through a horribly long and drawn out lawsuit with the city and police etc..in the end they settled the case for some piddly amount of money - not worth the pain and suffering that NOra (Michae's mother) has gone through and continues to go through every day...

I told my close call story here at work and now we're considering doing a story on them....they're very dangerous for sure

Hey Deanna! good to hear that you are ok after that close call! IIIIIII was thinking about you last night! I was waiting on a table of two old ppl from Las Cruces and i told them about my trip there and my friend from there who is now working for NPR and they were totally impressed and kept telling me that you must be very talented to be doing what you are doing having just barely turned 25. They just thought it was the coolest thing and it restored their faith in our generation or something... lol...

My cousin was killed three years ago in the aftermath of a police chase, as well. She was on her way to nursing school, when a cop car chasing someone who'd done a drive off at a gas station came plowing through an intersection at 75 miles an hour with his lights on but sirens off. He plowed right into the driver's side and her neck was broken and she died on impact.

Jesus, this sounds almost like an epidemic. Deanna, I am so glad you are okay! Please, yes, do a story on this. I'm sorry for you, Hayley, and Brian for losing people in this sensless way. :-(
