Just cause I am bored I figured that I would share a few animal pics that I took at the zoo yesterday. It is from a local zoo here in Providence. I did not have to pay yesterday because it is free to residents of the city on the first Saturday of the month. I am glad that I did not have to pay because due to the cold some of the animals were not outside.

I'll post a few that I did get.

I took these with my digital camera:

This is a picture of a monument located inside the park called "Temple to Music" I took this one last Saturday.

Yeah, the penguins are so cute. I just wish that the animals had been more active when I went. Maybe next time.

The last time I went (on a school field trip years ago)...some of the kids started to throw things at the monkeys! STUPID KIDS! The monkey's in turn started to throw things back!...not so good! lol :D

Monkeys are fond of throwing their own poop!

Great pix, Pattie! How cute is that penguin?? And flamingos are one of my favorite birds as well.

I love the flamingos, too. They are such a beautiful color pink. The photos of them kind of remind me of lawn ornaments, however.

Nice pics, Pattie!

The only time I've been to a zoo was when I was about 10 years old, and we went to the one in San Diego. For some ghastly reason I got extremly sick whilst there and had to leave really early. There's been few times since that I've felt worse. I'll save you from the details though. ;) Now, when I see anything zoo- related, it takes me back to frickin' San Diego.

Thanks for posting them, Pattie. Love the penguin and his friendship bracelet is adorable. LOL

My favorite animal is the cheetah.

I think the last time I went to the zoo was....uh....around Christmas of 2001 or something. Can't remember, but I went with my dad, aunt and uncle.

Elephants, they certainly are unattractive creatures.

I can participate. I wasn't at the zoo, my friend and I were at a local park where he was attacked by kookaburras and I took it upon myself to photograph the assault. Ok so he might have invited them by standing with pieces of chicken in his outstretched hands but they were rather vicious, sneaking up from all angles and nipping him. Birds are freaky and kookaburras are no exception. Oh and then there were a pack of turkeys who spent their time squabbling over what the kookaburras left behind, interrupted only by the odd gang-raping when a female happened to pass by.

Hilarious, but also a little scary. I hate birds. They're dirty and mean.

That's funny, Lux! I know what you mean about birds. They can be crazy. I've been accosted by geese many times when visiting a pond to feed ducks and geese. The geese can't stand it if you're feeding the ducks. They want everything and they'll attack you if you don't offer it promptly. My Mom and my brothers once had some geese chase them all the way back to their car. They were out of bread but the geese could not accept that.

Were you feeding them illegally or is it still legal to feed geese in LA? You can't do it here in MA because it screws up the ecosystem and such. They overpopulate and then on the days no one shows up to feed them they don't get to eat.

I've just been to several parks and fed the ducks and geese; other people were doing the same. There weren't any signs that indicated that we weren't supposed to feed them, except at one place. Their reasoning was that it made them more aggressive and compelled them to approach people more and they got violent with small children in some cases. I think something must've happened and someone wound up suing them, so that was why they came up with that rule at that particular park. But I've never seen any other place with a rule against it. Is it really a bad thing? I've seen how some of the ducks and geese just get their own food after I've run out, so I guess I assumed that they would be fine whether people showed up to feed them or not.

lol...there was a pond back home with a sign telling people not to abandon pet ducks there... The ducks living there were not migrating ducks - as the signs wanted you to believe..

I loved feeding the ducks - they never got violent with me or my nephew - but they did get violent with each other from time to time - the white ducks used to pick on and peck at this one brown duck with a puffy afro atop his head  I called them the white supremicist ducks
