Listening to I'll Tell You Now....just thought it would be cool to discuss the songs that hardly get spoken about.
I'll Tell You Now: It's such a great lil shuffly, countrified song, and I love the ending solo. :)
I Want You: Can't understand what he's saying until you read the lyrics. LOL What the frick is a spartan splasher anyways?
Turn It On: The way he says the word "on" is hilarious, and total Lindsey. I didn't care for the song when I first heard OOTC, but I like it, it's got a great message.
What other songs do you like that doesn't get enough love?

Sorry, um....before I discovered that there's actually a lot of love for it out there, I would have said Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind. My favourite song of Lindsey's, but I see it actually gets more credit than I would have previously thought.
When I first heard it, I was like "What is that?" It didn't appeal to me, kind of like Time Bomb Town at first. Now that I've heard it more, it's one of my favorites. :)
I'd die to hear it live.

Ah, Turn It Orrrrrrrn. I remember the first time I ever heard the song I was reminded of George Harrison's 'I Need You'. Then I cleaned my ears, had another listen and discovered that I was completely mistaken. Wow, even if you were mistaken, the fact that you thought at the first listen that it was like that song is a sign to me that I must listen to it! It is one of the many that I haven't heard. I adore Harrison's "I Need You."
Anyway, there are some Lindsey tunes with FM that don't get enough love in my opinion. One that I love is "Can't Go Back." I don't want to hear the negative comments about the clown's eye line. :p I think it's a great song and love the music.
I'll Tell You Now: It's such a great lil shuffly, countrified song, and I love the ending solo. :)
YES!! I love that song and it has always been one of my all time fave Lindsey solo songs. Good choice.
Bang the Drum: Don't hear this one being talked about much. I love it. The lyrics just tear at my heart. Just a very genuine, real song.
On the Wrong Side: Another beaut. I think this could be one of Lindsey's best. Love the production. I even played it for my Mom and she said, "that song is sooo beautiful." :) woot.

Most Lindsey songs are underspoken, but I'd like to hear more of
Down Endless Street
It's an absolutely beautiful song. I don't know why it's not talked about all that often.

Walk A Thin Line....It's a great song.
I really wouldn't know where to begin here, because I'm not aware of many of his songs being talked about much outside the confines of FM-related circles. I agree on everything mentioned. I love Turn It On...I never really heard George's I Need You on that...and I have been a massive fan of George since I was 10. I guess I blocked that out or something. Should probably go back and listen again.
I also love the song It Was I, which is weird because it's such a...strange song. What's up with his voice? I have no clue but the song is addictive for me. It's crazy.
I agree about Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind. That is soooooo beautiful. And Wear You Down is kind of an obsession right now.
I also agree about Walk a Thin Line. That song is gorgeous, as is Save Me a Place. Man, I really, really love his songs on Tusk.

I'm with you! That song is just great, in my opinion. One of my favorites!
Also, as Lux said, I love "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind." It is terrific song.
I really think "Loving Cup" is awesome. I don't think it gets the "loving" it deserves. It has a great groove to it, cool lyrics, unique sound, etc. I think it is a solo jem. :)

Save Me A Place doesn't get the respect it should. It should be included on every "Best of" Mac compilation.

A sonic wonder. Pure Lindsey.

THATS what I'm talking about. This rarely talked about Cradle song has got to be one of Lindsey's very very very best. The song is perfection.

It already gets too much respect  But really it was one of two songs that got requested and played at Lindsey's soundstage.

And adding my own overlooked song. A Satisfied Mind is one of my favorites and I never hear it mentioned. Maybe because its a cover, but to me it's his song.

I love DW Suite and all the changes in the music. It starts off kinda slow and then builds up. The ending is my favorite part. :)

I'm not sure that this even counts as a Lindsey song, but I really love "You and I, Part 1."
The lyrics are, um, lacking but all those rich layers of his voice are nothing short of a treat to my ears.

I'm sorry, SMAP is just dull. I've tried to like it, I really have, but I just can't.
I agree about 'This Is The Time' though. Now there's a good song.

Let's hear it for This is the Time!
I would have said I Know I'm Not Wrong, but it got its 5 minutes of fame last year - thanks Lindsey!

Down Endless Street someone mentioned....awesome, I love it. I quoted that in the book I gave to Lindsey at the Woodlands last July. :) I used the lyric "Well you say you'll be fine when you walk out that door...will it be that easy to see me no more" in the Tango section for when he left.
This is the Time gets lots of love, I think. Not one of my faves, but it's greatness anyways.

"Without A Leg To Stand On"
"That's All For Everyone" (deserves more praise and recognition than Lindsey's *other* slow song on 'Tusk')
"Shadow Of The West"
"Love From Here, Love From There"
"Dancin' Across The U.S.A."
"Can't Go Back"
"Book Of Love"
"Slow Dancing"
"Loving Cup"
"Bang The Drum"
"You And I, Part 1"
"Down Endless Street"
"You Do Or You Don't"
"Doing What I Can"
"Turn It On"
"Make Me A Mask"
I also think "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind," "Bleed To Love Her" and "Murrow" are underrated, for the simple fact that I feel they're three of his very best songs ever, and couldn't possibly be talked about nearly enough to match how insanely perfect they are.

Just as I can't go without getting in a Stevie dig, you can't go without getting in a SMAP dig.

I agree with SGCYM and Murrow (lyrics especially), but The Dance version of Bleed To Love Her is the only one that does anything for me; it's superb. I know it's blasphemous, but the SYW version gets on my tits and annoys me just as bad as When I See You Again. I loathe how he filtered his vocals like that and the noodling at the end goes on for far, far too long. And it's so saccharine in presentation that I can feel my teeth decay whenever I'm subjected to it. I also can't listen to it without feeling as if we were cheated out of a new song instead of that dull retread.
Anyways, here's my list:
September Song
Play In the Rain (both parts)
Doing What I Can
Loving Cup
Surrender the Rain
Time Bomb Town
Save Me A Place
The Ledge
Oh Diane (!!!)

Just as I can't go without getting in a Stevie dig, you can't go without getting in a SMAP dig. :lol:Yeah, my "SMAP" digs are considerably less frequent than your Stevie digs, but I gotta pull one out every now and then for fun! ;) :xoxo:

And I love, love, LOVE the "noodling" over the coda. It's so frickin' gorgeous that I could listen to another three minutes of it.
I do agree with you that it was disappointing that "Bleed" took a spot on the album that could have been filled by a "new" song. I wouldn't have minded seeing it used on the special edition's bonus CD instead.
But I definitely feel the studio version is way too damn good to leave unreleased, so if it had to be on the album for that to happen, then I guess I can't complain.

Oh Diane (!!!)Good list you have there. I almost added "Play In The Rain" to mine, but didn't at the last minute.
Same with "Oh Diane"... which I love, despite the bashing it gets.

I agree, the Dance version of BTLH is greatness and I prefer it over the SYW version.
DWIC is my favorite Lindsey solo song at this moment, ask me next week, and it will probably be something else though. LOL Loving Cup is awesome! Surrender the Rain use to be my favorite LB solo song, and I love and adore it. TBT is also a fave, it's so wierd and his vocal...outstanding. SMAP...it grew on me big time and The Ledge....gotta love the wierdness.

Oh, special colours for the retard, yay! I swear that Turn It On doesn't actually sound like I Need You, I was probably high. Under such circumstances I can convince myself that I have perfect pitch when I haven't even opened my mouth. Various factors throughout the album do still remind me of Paul Simon however.
Special color for special people! :xoxo:
