OK. I am so bored so I decided to create a new Lindsey poll just for fun.

I voted for Summer out of hope and desperation. It's getting close to springtime and still not one word on his release.
Come'on Lindsey. We are salivating over here.

I'm sure Lindsey has great intentions, but I don't think that the album will be "perfected" enough (in his mind) for him to release it this year. :distress: I just hope that I'm wrong!

I chose Summer mainly because that's what I'm hoping for. I want a fall/winter tour. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've read that he's most definitely in the studio working on it.

Yeah, I am hoping for a Lindsey tour myself. I put down summertime myself but I am being very optimistic on that one. I just wish that we had some kind of news about it. I really wish that he would have a bit more communication with his website people. It does seem to have some kind of Lindsey news posted once in the beginning of the month so maybe we will hear something this week.

Here's one for the "Obsessed Fan" files... I was reading an article about Fred Durst on Yahoo News, and towards the end of the interview, it said something like "Durst is anticipating a new LB album."
I read that and thought, "so am I, Fred, so am I!"
Then, of course, I realized they meant Limp Bizkit. :o
As for the one and only "LB" in MY world, I'm thinking it's unlikely we'd have the album before the 3rd or 4th quarter... otherwise we probably would have heard something by now.

Just anticipating what the mentioned news on the website might be like...
How about: Lindsey is finishing his album. He has only 10% to go
Btw Anyone here who wants to discuss the film "Groundhog Day" with me? Wrong forum? Ahm no ;)

I think that he's making time to make it, so that's a good sign :) But of course, we all like to see it happen real soon.
Personally I hope his new album will be very guitar-driven. And after that, I hope there will be a new FM album...

I don't think he'll release anything on his own. He's probably working on songs -- he's always working on songs -- but the album won't actually be released.

Well, I certainly hope so, but-as I mentioned a couple of times before- I say September 23 this year.
So I voted for summer, because fall was not an option (????????)
And David....I think "Destiny Rules" shows that he will NOT focus on FM-only. He just can't rely on that environment 100%. And he's old enough to say
" you're never old enough to learn..."
I bet Lindsey wins the time battle with G'n'R. THAT record will never come out.

I had to be honest with myself and voted for never. But who knows, maybe we'll get a bunch of posthumous releases? :( Terrible thought, I know, but it's the only way his perfectionism will cease to be an obstacle (unless someone gags him and locks him away somewhere whilst releasing the album for him), and I'm sure there are countless perfectly good songs that he just isn't satisfied with.

Well, I went for sometime late in the year like December because I have some hope that it'll happen, but I don't want to ask for too much. I hope he does put it out eventually.

No honestly I think the one and only reason his solo album hasn´t been released in November 2004 is that he does not use his ready GOS songs for it.
The only reason that might make the whole waiting acceptable would be, that instead he uses the new songs he claimed to have written during the tour.
When that thing appears in late 2005 I`ll happily apologize for my scepticism!

I bet Lindsey wins the time battle with G'n'R. THAT record will never come out.I think we're talking about two different things here: does Lindsey "work on" his own material, & will Lindsey release a solo album.
I think the former is demonstrably true -- as I said earlier, I imagine he works constantly all year long on his own material, using his own methods.
But I think the eventuality of the latter is dubious. Lindsey records & records & records -- on his own, with Fleetwood Mac, with other artists occasionally -- but almost none of it ever hits the shelves.
Let's hope I'm wrong. Let's hope a 4th solo album is RELEASED (as opposed to recorded). By the way, which record label is going to release this glorious new work?

I bet Lindsey wouldn't fill in for Celine in Vegas.
+10!
Yes, it seems rather...odd to play Vegas like that. She's not Celine, she's not Charo, and she's not Elton. I don't understand how her show is going to go over in Vegas, to be honest. It's not a big theatrical extravaganza and would seem to stick out like a sore thumb when it comes to Vegas entertainment. I'm sure all the hits will be played in favor of lesser-known stuff in order to sell tickets to tourists.

How's her show going to go over? She doesn't have to appeal to the Vegas crowd, cause, in case you haven't noticed by the small sampling here, every Stevie fan across the country (and possibly other countries) is going to trek their ass to Vegas to see her play.

Well, I doubt that this board is indicative of how many Stevie fans are going to go out of their way to see her in Vegas. There are many, but not that many.
I hope y'all don't mind spening top dollar for tickets and airfare to hear her play the same old stuff again, because I'd be willing to bet my life (not that that's a whole helluva lot :p ) that they're going to make every attempt to appeal to the casual fans and tourists than they are to the die-hard fans. Exactly. I don't have anything against Vegas or the acts that play there (apart from Celine) but how the hell does Stevie fit there? I thought she wanted to be considered a rocker? All it says to me is "sell out". I guess if the price is right....
Sorry for bringing this issue over into Lindsey land. But he sure as hell wouldn't fill in for Celine.
There was a time when I would have said he'd never sell "Go Your Own Way" to be used in cheesy National Rent-a-Car commercials, but that didn't stop it from happening.
And wasn't Lindsey one of the members of that band who played at the Chumash casino this past summer? Or is it only Las Vegas casinos that make you a "sell-out"?
I'm not sure why one must be considered a "sell-out" if one plays in the town of Las Vegas. It's just another venue that happens to be located in a casino.

I agree. And she's only there for a week or whatever. It's really not sell outish at all, it's just a week engagement at a venue in Vegas...maybe if you are British it seems different... :D

Maybe I shouldn't have brought Lindsey into it... As for the Mac, well Mick is one big old sell out himself.
Well, I think the whole band is comprised of sell-outs, save John McVie who doesn't give a flying fig about anything other than his bass guitar. But I also think that they were a corporate act to begin with, so they really didn't have anything to sell-out.

I just would like Stevie to be following the Petty and Springsteen path rather than be a night out for tourists.
It's not playing Vegas it's where she's playing. I admit I don't know much about the Mac playing Chumash casino, but I imagine it was purely a stop on their world tour? Actually I guess they could do a Vegas residency, they do play the same old, well-rehearsed show every night afterall.

I don't think they always were, not in the old Peter Green days anyway or even for the first half of the 70s, but I suppose you are right. I guess I remain hopeful that they will choose the cooler path (lower ticket prices, cool venues, spontaneity in their act, doing it for the kids, all the old cliches etc). Ah well, I I live in hope but I guess that's why we have Bowie, Springsteen, Blondie, Petty and the like...
Oh, no, not then, I meant as soon as Stevie and Lindsey joined. :)
I've always wished that they would tour small venues like those other artists, but I've come to realize that it will never happen. It's about the money these days, not the art of live performance. They should realize, though, that such intimate tours do nothing but strengthen their relationship with their fan base. Bowie, Petty, and Blondie certainly realized that.

This is just my observation, but I don't think Sharon is exactly keen on spending a ****load of money to see Stevie play Vegas, only to hear her sing the same old thing. I think she's saving her money for when and if Stevie returns to the UK, which I suspect would be in smaller venues if that were to happen because the amount of money Stevie would lose playing large ones would be quite large.

Springsteen has too. I'm not a major fan (although I do like him), but even he, global superstar that he is, is planning smaller more intimate shows for the upcoming tour in support of his new album. I mean that's pretty cool for someone as big as he is.
I think for any major artist or group to go on such a small, intimate tour is pretty damn cool. I remember Bowie stopped doing big tours after that ridiculous one in the late eighties and he only recently went back on a huge tour; for almost 15 years before Reality, he was playing small clubs and venues where tickets cost $30 (the Roseland Ballroom show in '02 is one of the best shows I've ever witnessed by anyone). And they were spectacular tours because they were so intimate and warm. Blondie's latest tour (which I swear will never end) is so bloody amazing because they're playing the smallest venues possible. When I saw them in Boston for $30 (again) back in May, that place was so tiny that you would have thought it was CBGBs. And those are the venues where rock shows are at their best.
To be able to hear Stevie do the likes of Beautiful Child in such a small setting would give me goosepimples.

I am talking the Shepherd's Bush Empire. Blondie have played there quite a few times (so you may not have the show I went to but still pretty cool), and they can easily play much, much larger venues. I saw Sheryl Crow there too and she can pack out arenas.
I think the one I ahve is from a show back in August, but I'm not sure. I don't even have the setlist. :(

Some fans definitely seem to need the immediacy and close physical proximity of an intimate venue for the utmost enjoyment.
But anytime I think of club performances, I think of being packed in WAY too closely to a bunch of people I don't know, who smell of ghastly things... and there's just no way I could tune all of that out, to focus on enjoying the show.
I even cringe when I see the hordes of fans crowded around the edge of the stage, to strum Lindsey's guitar or hand Stevie a snuffed Snoopy.

Of course it can. I have much more respect for someone who sticks to small venues than I do for someone who embarks on a mammoth Clear Channel-sponsored tour (*shudder*). I lost a bit of respect when Bowie did it, just as I lost a bit respect when it came to the Mac doing it.

Fleetwood Mac did play Vegas in July of 2003 (I was there) and again in Oct of that year. They performed at the MGM Grand arena.

Fleetwood Mac did play Vegas in July of 2003 (I was there) and again in Oct of that year. They performed at the MGM Grand arena. They've always put a Las Vegas stop on their tours -- doesn't anyone remember the Aladdin Hotel & Casino shows in August 1977? Plus, Stevie played Mandalay Bay in 2000 for New Year's. I'm not sure the term "sellout" is really descriptive news anymore for Stevie -- unless it's for those private corporate parties she did all over the country several years ago (& FM has done some private corporate parties too).
It seems more sensible to call them sellouts with the box set or the supper club appearances or the saturation of greatest hits albums or the use of the songs in commercials. I don't see how Stevie & Lindsey joining was a sellout: it wasn't a move specifically intended to reap financial gain -- in fact, the band was pretty poor for about ten months before they even had a hit). The band just needed a guitar player. And in those days, the band was a refreshing change from the standard corporate group with interferring management & decision-making from above. Fleetwood Mac managed itself (& early on avoided almost all of the PR traps that Frampton fell into) & made its own musical decisions.
In those days, you would never have found a line of Fleetwood Mac action figures. But since about 1990, the band wouldn't think twice before jumping into such a marketing scheme.

Apart from the fact that there's too much offtopic dreck in this thread (like Stevie going to Africa to breastfeed 100 starving children), it's still an interesting one, well, because a new Lindsey album would sell.
I'd really like to hear the GOS songs, especially Down On Rodeo and Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind in proper sound quality. But what I just don't think is that it'll come out this year.
And there's another band that's in competition for 1st longtime-announced new album in over a decade, apart from GNR and Lindsey, and that is the Eagles.
They all have released at least one song from their unfinished project on a different CD, with the Eagles it was a best of, with Lindsey it was FM albums and with GNR it was a soundtrack. They all have performed new songs live. GNR have got a record label waiting for stuff, and the label will either drop them one day or put out 'unfinished' stuff. The Eagles will self-release their recordings, or so they say. Where's Lindsey's album going to appear? What label? The same label as FM?
I just want to add that I don't believe any of the 3 albums will be released this year, just like I will not believe that any of them is released until I see it inside of a shop. That's why I haven't entered the poll. There's no option for 'maybe next year or the year after'.
Anyway, who of the 3 will win the 'battle'? GNR won't, unless the record company have a say in this. At the moment, they don't have a guitar player, and when a new one comes around, they probably record it all over again.
That leaves us with Lindsey and the Eagles. The Henley/Frey/Walsh/Schmit band is constantly touring, and they've got some new songs up to now, with which they're not too confident, but two of them are performed on their current tour. Walsh says he's not gonna put out a solo album until the Eagles album is there, and that's somewhat unfortunate, because he's a great guitarist. Frey seems to prefer to play golf. Schmit says on his website that he's already recording new solo material in his home studio when he finds the time; and remember when an Eagles album was first thought of aloud in public by the band, Schmit was just delivering his last solo release. Henley gives solo concerts in between Eagles tours, so maybe he's more confident with his songwriting when playing solo that when playing with the Eagles.
All that looks like the Eagles are not as focused as they should be to release new album soon.
Lindsey is working in his studio. He's not toured since Say You Will. It's probably just down to whether he will decide to rework his stuff for FM when the time comes for them to make a new album, or whether he dares to make his FM colleagues wait for his solo album release and tour to be over.
Tight schedules are not for everybody, but why not promote the next Lindsey album and the next Stevie album jointly with an FM tour?
My guess is that Lindsey will win the 'battle' because he's been at it since the mid-90s, and the Eagles only started talking of recording since the new millenium, and they seem to be somewhat less focused than Lindsey. Then again I might be wrong.
