LOL....so um....this morning I got ready - washed my face - moisturized - put on my makeup (I wear very little - I like to keep it natural and simple)

Anyway - I got into my car - looked into the mirror and notice this big as wrinkle thing - like the diagonal line things that extend from the nose the corner of the mouth....and in between my eye brows - looked older - well I freaked out....

So um you're like the moisturizer face product guru it seems.....I need advice here......this has me a bit freaked out today......

And anyone else with a good product tip - please chime in...

BTW - I can't do chemical peels or anything that could scar because my skin scars WAY easy - and extreme things like that never completely heal - so I'd look horrible permanently....

I'm not Dissention, but you better start wearing sunscreen every day, if you don't already. In addition to whatever fabulous cream he recommends. Most skin damage is from the sun. :D

Yeah. That and smoking. ;) :xoxo:

Seriously, I saw that line on my face about a year ago - I was like "where the hell did THAT come from?!?!" I think it's cuz I tend to stress out at work & furrow my brows, creating a permanent wrinkle there.

I do wear a sun screen everyday - well my daily moisturizer includes sun block - it has since I was 15 :distress:

I am also drinking more water....lol....I'm totally freaking out over these little wrinkles...I'm only 25 dammit!!!

So I can guarantee you are the only one who sees them. Just keep your stress levels down, get your rest, and the sunscreen and water already mentioned. I just got a good night cream because I am 33 so it is time for me to start bending over for the cosmetics companies! I think that a really good night cream could do wonders since you sleep for like 8 hours so over time that is a long time to have your skin completely protected!

Hmm, try the book "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff". This helped me get perspective on my worries. It is also very simple to read so your harried brain can absorb it!

Run to the nearest store and get any Roc product. I swear by them. They have a new one out that has silicon in it to "fill in" the lines and the skin firmer is fab, too. And they smell great!

If oyu feel like spending a little more cash, get some Serious Skin Care from the Home Shopping Network. That **** works like a charm for any skin problem.

Good luck! I just got a little line from DHC that works well for me. It's all Olive oil based, which is great for your skin. It was like, $75, though.
and maybe, if your moisturizer only has spf 15, you should crank it up a notch and get some real sunscreen. :) 45.

My advice to avoid winkles is simply: stay out of the sun!!!
No natural tan but you'll be thankful later.

Well - I'm Hispanic so I do have a natural tan :p

But I don't spend too much time in the sun....especially anymore - since there is no sun in Rochester lol....

And Amber - what's DHC?

I will spend a chunk after March - right now I have to be somewhat frugal because my sister and I are taking my grandma to New York City in a couple of weeks....

Roc is way less expensive than La Mer. Also, you might want to look into Retin-A. It packs a little more punch than ROC and is available only by prescription. Any dermatologist or plastic surgeon's office will carry it and it is only like 20-25$ a tube.

Roc, for one. I'm telling ya, that stuff is the best if you want to firm your skin. I use it on my neck, too, to prevent chicken neck.

Serious Skin Care come sin kits that are tailored to your skin type. And the amount of stuff they have is just jaw-dropping. There's this one product called Dry-Lo for when you get a random zit and want to get rid of it ASAP. It's like this mud on the bottom of a jar filled with alcohol, you dab it on, and the zit is gone by morning.

Also, if you don't want to spend any cash, wash your face with honey every night. That'll firm up your skin and keep it very healthy.

It's a pain in the ass - at first I only wore it on special occasions - but recently I've had some skin issues - which have left some scars and dark spots - so I hate leaving without the makeup - if this mederma stuff works as well as folk say - perhaps soon I can cut back on the makeup again...

What is the obsession with big lips? I just don't understand.

Well, as you age your lips thin out. So its a youthful thing, what else? However, plumped up lips don't look youthful they look inflated.

Seriously, that collagen **** is nasty. Hello, people? It's called Lip Venom (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P51803). Use it. Best $15 you can spend. Or do it naturally. Use some cinnamon oil.

Ooh! Good tip!

If you use cinnamon oil, be CAREFUL- you only need to use VERY small amount. It's strong. It'll burn the hell out of your lips if you use to much. I think you can use peppermint oil too, but I prefer cinnamon.

Lip Venom is the greatest stuff- your lips swell right up, but not to gross proportions, and it's got a really sexy sting to it. Two thumbs up.

Okay - I'm going to chime in here, too. Best thing I ever did was go for a facial at a really good spa. They analyzed my skin and worked with me to find the best products. I have sensitive/reactive normal to oily skin which still breaks out, but is dry in some areas. A bit challenging, no?

I use Dermalogica oil control moisturizer in the morning, and Decleor Hydra Flora Hydrating Comfort Creme at night. My skin has never been better. I tihnk we're close to acheiving balance! :]

Seriously, I'd advise getting a professional to look at your skin and recommend products. And sometimes you need to try a few before you find what works best for you.

That's my 2 cents - for what it's worth. :)

Yeah - I've actually wanted to do that for some time - right now though I'm saving all my pennies to take my grandma to NYC soon - after that it NOTS - then hopefully I can make it into a spa - the place I get my hair cut is a full service spa place as well - so I just need to get a facial scheduled - Spring may be better anyway - my skin will oil up by then :p

Also - I just spent a hefty chunk of change at the Vet - my dog needed antibiotics and a steriod - she was allergic to the food they were giving her at the shelter  so she'd chewed the fur off part of her hip and was having other issues indicative of a food allergy - NOW she's in tip top shape and I can spend my money on me again :p

I think Joan has just gone a little overboard - I know several women who have had work done - and still look fantastic!

It all comes down to preference - I'll never say never - because well my reaction to this little wrinkle appearing on my face is something I didn't expect....I guess I'm just starting to take my appearance more seriously now - especially since I'd like to climb the ladder in the professional world - it helps if you don't look like an unmade bed :) (or so I've heard :p)

I took 2.5 cycles of accutane myself. But it was because my first Derm messed up a bit - After I was done, he did not do the chemical exfoliation on my face. By the time you're done with accutane, you have so much dry skin clogging your pores that you really need the doctor exfoliation. As soon as new derm figured that out and did it, my skin ceased to break out like it had been doing without the exfoliation. They probably did that for you, but in case they didn't, I just wanted to tell you. :) :wavey: I still get zits, but it was out of control after my accutane, before exfoliation. Unfortunately it was not in time to keep me from getting some big ass pores.. :distress:

"Benefits
DHC's special olive oil has myriad skin benefits. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, our virgin olive oil is a highly effective component in neutralizing the free radicals that damage healthy skin. Olive oil also helps your skin regulate its natural moisturizing systems. With its unique ability to mix with water, our olive oil penetrates deep, helping your skin drink in and hold moisture without clogging pores. Oxidized oils cause blackheads and a host of other problems, but because olive oil has a naturally lower oxidation rate than your skin's natural oils, it is a perfect supplement to help keep oxidation problems at bay while forming a barrier to protect from irritants.

Quality
Our Olive Virgin Oil is of the finest quality extracted from organic Spanish olives, hand-picked when they are young and bursting with skin-beneficial ingredients. Obtained without forced compression, heat processes, or chemical solvents, this superior virgin olive oil is extracted from the crush before the first cold pressing to preserve its many nutrients. Endorsed by Spain's Regulatory Committee on Organic Agriculture, DHC's olive oil has the seal of approval given to less than 2% of Spain's highest quality organic products. Finally, to ensure compatibility with skin, our special virgin olive oil is carefully filtered under laboratory conditions in Japan to remove potential pore-clogging impurities. What emerges is a certified, premium, organic virgin olive oil.

Purity
The standards reflected in the way we obtain our special olive oil are applied to all our ingredients, as well as to the formulation of every product. Incorporating the latest research in skincare, while also paying special attention to testing procedures for irritancy, no product is released until it meets our standard: high-quality, safe, and effective products for even sensitive skin. DHC skincare products are free of unnecessary fragrances and coloring agents, and are clinically tested for irritancy at our labs in Japan and in the United States. No DHC products are ever tested on animals.

Simplicity
DHC products are simple yet effective, with nothing unnecessary that might harm the delicate balance of healthy skin. So many of our products are blended with olive oil because, through the ages, it continues to be among the best natural ingredients for helping women achieve and maintain radiant, youthful-looking skin. With its ability to do so much, skincare is simplified beautiful skin, achieved almost effortlessly.

No animal testing
DHC skincare products are never tested on animals.

I think what's really screwing me over right now is the dryness....this Hispanic woman skin needs lots and lots of moisture to thrive - I mean my grandma is like 77 and just in the last two years has started looking older - the women in my family generally age really really well

I complained about the oil problem in the summer here - but I think it's better than the excessive dryness which is now causing wrinkles

That's why I like that stuff, the set I got, you put the pure olive oil stuff on after the whole cleansing/moisterizer thing (at night) and my skin was all soft and nice the next day. And I don't really have dry skin (sometimes, a little) but the whole thing didn't clog my pores or anything - in fact it cleaned them! I dunno, I really have always thought Olive oil was good for your skin (from research) and I've never really been into "moisturizing" type skin products, never done that whole thing, but I really liked this one. I think, also, with a lot of moisterizers, putting them on makes your body stop the production of it's own skin oil, cause it thinks your skin is already moisterized. I didn't get the sense that this one was like that at all. Ok, I'll hush now. But our skin may be more alike then the other peoples, who I think are lighter. Anyway, hopefully what you already bought will work for you, since you already bought it and everything. :p
