Shrub and Pickles are welcomed to Belgium this morning.
They promised shock and awe, they just didn't tell us it would come in the form of Pickles' (lack of) fashion. I get constipated looking at her.

I think she got that from the "Frumpy Jackie O by way of Target Collection" I think their ad campaign goes something like: "Have no sense of style, but want to emulate famous people? Come on down! We have fashions that kind of look like they could look good, but they absolutely don't! If you're boring, and have no taste, we're the store for you! *Presidential wives welcome*"

I like it for a First Lady. It is very Jackie O.
I think Mrs. Bush does not have the figure to wear alot of designer stuff. She is not fat by any means - she just does not have the shape to wear most things as they are cut and most things are cut for twigs.
I think though that this outfit is either St. John or Chanel (or a copy by some other designer) - both of which do not in any way cut for fuller figured women, who should avoid knits if possible.

I think it's kind of refreshing to see normal-sized women as First Ladies, potential First Ladies, etc., especially with the media criticizing everyone's looks/figures. What they did to Chelsea was horrible. I mean, Laura Bush, Teresa Heinz-Kerry, Lynne Cheney, Elizabeth Edwards.......they look like most other women their age. They've had kids; they're middle-aged. I think the last twig we had was Mrs. Reagan. But I digress.....
Anyway, though Laura's taste in men leaves a lot to be desired, I don't dislike her. She is just shy and demure, I think. You almost have to be a Southerner to understand it.

That's the Prime Minister of France's wife, who is probably wearing Chanel or some other fantastic French designer.
Isn't pink boucle bad form after 1963? All she needs is a pill box hat. :distress:
ON EDIT: Oops, after reading the caption, I guess that is not Mrs. Chirac. Still probably wearing a fabulous French designer, though.

Being the shopaholic I am and having to walk though the better dress dept. in Sak's on the way to the Men's store, I can tell you the outfits ver similar to the one the First lady is wearing have been on display in the St. John and Chanel sections. The only difference is the ones I saw had shorter skirts, which understandably her outfit does not
Of course, there also was Parker posey in "The House of Yes" - buty that is a whole other story

Also, one should always avoid looking like a bottle of Pepto Bismol.

I know darling, I've seen them too. But what I meant was, isn't it bad form for someone like the presidents wife, in a photgraph to be published worldwide, to be seen in a pink Chanel suit? Upon futher inspection of the suit and my second cup of coffee, it may or may not be boucle'.

Mea Culpa - I misunderstood :sorry: :sorry: :sorry:
I think that color is not the greatest. I think she looks good in off white and in colors like teal and red. Her hair is so brown that pale pink is a semi-clash.
Finally, those buttons make it worse that it is. Black patent leather buttons or even white bone or oyster ones could have saved it

Look, no.
The suit doesn't "suit" her. I agree with goldustwmn, that thing is passe post 1963. I don't know of ANYONE who could pull it off these days. And yeah, I have to admit, a lot of my disgust about the suit (and Laura Bush) comes from my distaste of anyone in the Bush clan. Any woman who would marry that f*cktard has bad taste period.

She looks like a pink nightmare. The makeup is too harsh, as is the color of her hair, and ends up making her look like a frump who obviously dressed in the dark. It also has no shape (much like Pickles herself), so it looks like an upscale pink potato sack. Puhleeze. Wear a f*cking pantsuit and save us from seeing the cankles.

Or a deranged easter bunny? She does need to ditch that lipstick. I honestly don't think she looks that bad though, I mean for her. I wouldn't be caught dead in such a frock but then again I am only 33 and have much better taste in men. :p

It's very "Mary Kay." The bright lipstick, everything.
I prefer pantsuits, too, though. I HATE skirts and dresses and avoid them at all costs.

Seriously! All she needs is a pink cadillac and a little more pancake makeup to complete the look.
My mother sold so much Mary Kay when I was a kid, I was embarrassed. She even went to the big sales conventions in Texas with the real Mary Kay (who I always thought looked like a beauty pageant loser). She still has boxes and boxes and boxes of unsold product in her garage. Must be almost twenty years old by now.
