To those who love vintage:

What's your favorite article of vintage clothing?

What's the best deal you've gotten on a vintage piece?

I LOVE my "Pop-Outs" - platform wooden sandals/roller skates. They work too!

Best deal - I got a 3/4 length black 100% cashmere coat for $10.00 at an estate sale. I'd guess it's 50's or 60's, has the old Adam, Meldrum & Anderson label on it.

Anyone else care to share? Curtis, do you have a favorite grandpa shirt?

DO I? :blob2: :blob1:

It is red, black, and silver plaid. I got it for like 5 bucks. It is a classic piece of clothing...I'm telling ya! :) It buttons up and fits my figure perfectly. Ineed to take a picture of it so you all can see. That's my favorite piece.

I LOVE Vintage clothing - and I used to totally have a thing for old man shirts....sadly I've only kept one in my collection - I got rid of the rest in an effort to girl up my wardorobe a bit :p

My favorite piece of vintage is a yellow checkered short sleeve botton down old man shirt :D

The best deal - and also one of my favorites is my genuine Navy Pea Coat that I got for $30 - I didn't like the buttons though so I put my own on...the weird thing is that the person the coat was originally issued to has the same last name as me - so it was written in the coat when I bought it :D

Um, I love your "Pop Outs" best. :blob2: Score!
I like Vintage clothes better on men, or girls other than me. I suppose the best deals I've gotten are my mom's leotards from the seventies. :) I paid zero. There's this really cool one that is shiny brown, with long sleeves, only the sleeves, and above a cutout "V" part just above and between the boobies is see through sparkly brown material. I wore it once on my birthday, and someone was all "I don't know where the heck you got that shirt, but it was worth it!!"

I heart my '86 RAL shirt... it's the one where she's looking sideways and singing something. It looks sort of chalky. I want the OSOTM one with her & the tambourine, but it's never in my size on eBay -_-

I never wear the shirt anymore, though, because even though it's an XL, it fits like a medium o_O Crazy 80s sizes. -_-

I love tight t-shirts and loathe baggy ones. They make me feel huge.

I love my vintage navy blue polkadot babydoll dress, with lace trimmed sleeves and collar. I wear it with my kitten heels, black choker, matte powder and foundation, eyeliner and red lipstick, ala Marilyn/Gwen Stefani. I also adore my vintage Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Damn the Torpedoes shirt, and my Pretenders Get Close shirt, even though it's hella huge. I just wear it belted over a denim mini all 80s. I have a hella cute vintage Garfield shirt I got from my mom for Christmas, as well.

Ohmigosh, I was gonna say that sounds soooo "Gwen, Don't Speak". Then I read the rest... I love that look, it just doesn't look very good on me. I'm glad some people can wear it, though, cause then I get to see it! :xoxo:
Also, unfortunately, I never wear T-shirts (ok, sometimes my Mac ones) for anything other than excercising. They don't really flatter me. :(

Thank you! I *can't* really wear t-shirts at all, but for excercise, but I like them. My favorites are really thin T-shirts that cling around you.

My white satin kimono robe. The Japanese embroidery on the back is absolutely gorgeous.

I also love my F.M. Mirage tour and Stevie Nicks Belladonna baseball tee concert shirts. I paid a pretty penny for the Stevie one, it's 3/4 sleeve and awesome!

You should. I'm bringing my blades, not that that is really related, but I am, and you should bring your popouts anyway. If I were you? I'd want to wear them around all the time. :D

I have worn them to work to show them off, but they're really clunky (real wood, about 3 or 4 inches thick) and I fear I may trip & fall & kill myself like my mother always warned me I would!

I'd have to go with my wine colored wild heart T shirt. It's so thin and soft, and small. It's not only comfy but I love the way it looks. maroon with pink writing. I have it in grey, too, but I don't like that one as much. I love my RAL T shirt, too. It's white and looks just like the album cover. It's also very thin and soft. Other than my vintage T shirts, I don't have alot of vintage clothes anymore. I used to have TONS!

I've got a vintage Wild Heart tee too. I haven't worn it in ages though. It's lavender colored. I'm a big collector of vintage purses and have two Mandalian mesh purses and probably 10 Whiting-Davis mesh purses. For years I had this great madras plaid shirt that had belonged to my Uncle. I wore it all the time but it finally just began to get too old and worn to wear anymore. I also have an antique piano shawl. I'm a sucker for accessories and have several pieces of jewelry from the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Some of it's real, some of it's costume.

Here is a photo of my Pop Outs (as you can see, "POP OUT" is branded into the wood  ) Please also note the one piece pantsuit (no it's not a skirt, they're pants) I am wearing with them (it's a black polyester top attached to satiny pants. I bought it for $3 at Goodwill.)

I found my first pair of Pop Outs at an antique mall about 7 or 8 years ago. Paid $15, wore them to the annual World's Largest Disco for years. Finally, the buckle broke, so I did invest in a new pair ($20 on ebay last year.) Those are practically mint, so I haven't worn them much.

Basically, they are just really high wooden sandals with leather (OK, OK, pleather :D ) straps & brass buckles. You walk around as usual, but when you're ready to skate, you pull out the button on the side of the shoe & the wheels come down for your skating pleasure.

I do not remember these being around when I was younger at all. But my husband insists that one of his lunch ladies ("sloppy joe, sloppy sloppy joe... ) in elementary school had a pair & that she used to skate around the cafeteria.

Forgot to mention in this thread that I have a skirt from the Silver Springs Emporium that was once owned by Stevie. It is a teal, handkerchief hemline, gauzy skirt which looks to be from the 70s. It is very casual. I think I have a picture somewhere...

Bwah! Sloppy Joe song....

I love vintage clothes and I don't go shopping for them enough these days! Some of my favorite things - a gorgeous, black taffetta, tiered dress, w/ a halter neckline. Very Marilyn-esque looking.

I scored a pair of Peter Max limited edition jeans at a garage sale - and had them altered into capri pants.

A former co-worker was getting rid of a bunch of clothes, but let me go thru the trunk of her car before she took them to Goodwill. I scored a brown leather bomber jacket, which is not authentic, but looks like it is. The lining has little airplanes on it. I get compliments on it every time wear it - especially from veterans!

A friend of mine was at a Goodwill, and called me to ask what size shoe I wear (6 1/2). She got me a KILLER pair of black suede, lace-up, Stevie looking platform boots for $10. My favorite thing about them is the shape of the heels - I've never seen anything like them - they're kinda A-shaped and funky, I love them.

My grandmother has given me all of her costume jewelry she's collected over the years. When brooches came back in style this fall? Fuhgeddaboutit! I literally have plastic grocery bags filled w/ that kinda stuff. I need to hand it on down to my niece so she can play dress up!

Ooooh, you're so lucky! I had a bunch of brooches & got rid of them, thinking "when the hell am I ever going to wear this?" Idiot! I still have a few...somewhere.
