I really need to know. I am going to make a LOVE cd tonight and I want some opinions!
I like post 60's stuff and nothing to hard core or hip hop. Just regular pop songs for this compilation.
What are your fav love songs?

My number one favorite is Blondie's "Night Wind Sent." That one is incredibly romantic and beautiful.
"Your music by the night wind sent
Awakes my quiet instrument
In the silence of your steps
I can see into the depths
Messenger of sympathies,
My heart beats loud in ecstasy
When your shadow falls on me
A silhouette- reality"
It gets even better as the song goes on. Gives me chills because it's so pretty. :)

Love songs are all subjective- who's love- who's song? is someone in love wanting to be in love, or falling out of love...?
Take for example...
-Elton John- Your Song ,or Love is What we Came Here For...he loves her
-Karla Bonoff- Someone to lay down beside me...she loves company
-just have to have 2 instrumentals...Europa and Sampre pa te-Santans -sexy romantic beautiful love song (and no lyrics to get, in the way and confused..)
Sting- Sister Moon or Walking on the Moon , both distant erie romantic Sting and Police tunes, writen as though he is an observer ( I have this Moon thing..but that another whole story)
-Dave Matthews- Crash...we love each other
-Black Crowes- Remedy...I can love you
-Fleetwood Mac-When I see you again....We will always love each other (I hope>>>)
-Kate Bush- Man with the Child in his Eyes - she loves him or
-Withering Heights-(song about Heathcliffe and Kathy on the moors...very romantic!) they love each other
Funny we were talking about Epic movies and songs and I found myself remembering "A Star is Born" with Kristopher Khristofferson and Barbra Streisand..had to be there to get it...but there is a song on that soundtrack called "Watch closely now" t hat she sings after he dies.....Very sad and romantic. Like an I will love you forever song-like a Silver Springs without the anger...just sadness
I have to go get some kleenex...later
I will think of more, I am the romantic of the bunch
hugs,

A case of You- Joni Mitchell
Friday I'm In love - The Cure
Time after Time - Cyndi Lauper
Nothing Compares to You - Prince (sung by Sinead O'Connor)
There is a light and it never goes out - The Smiths
Losing My Mind - Stephen Sondheim (sung by Ute Lemper)
Alison - Everything But The Girl
Spoon - Dave Matthews Band/Alanis Morissette

Your making it tonight, huh. Well my friend is in charge of the music for our friend's wedding this Saturday. That was another reason we were in Barnes and Noble last night. I think that she picked a few songs, however I think that they were by artists like Dean Martin and Celine Dion. That might not be what you are looking for, If I can get in touch with her tonight I will post what songs she picked out.

Janet, see if you can download "How to Dream" or "Love Is Everywhere I Go" by Sam Phillips. Those two songs are the most beautiful, most romantic songs I've ever heard.
Here's a sampling of the V-day mix I was given this year. The boy knows what I like. It's actually kinda uncanny and weird.
Just Like Heaven- The Cure
You Got to Me- Neil Diamond
Someone to Watch Over Me- Rickie Lee Jones' version
Beautiful Dreamers- Grant-Lee Phillips
Heroes- David Bowie
Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First)- John Mellencamp
Have Love Will Travel- Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Lovefool- The Cardigans
Hey Julie- Fountains of Wayne
This Magic Moment- Lou Reed
A good one is In A Little While by U2, too.

I have been listening to I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues alot lately. (Elton John). I love that song :) I can't think of any other ones right now. I don't really like loves songs lately....maybe I'm just bitter. (actually, I know I'm bitter)

Omigosh, that song made me sooo sad when i broke up w/my first boyfriend. I never even barely knew it before that, and suddenly i couldn't get it out of my head. Then i would cry, and cry...
Anyway, I think Crazy Love and/or Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison should be on it. I prefer Tupelo Honey, but they are both gorg.

Cant think of any "love songs" I like...Just never been into the overly sappy love songs of the world.
Matter of fact after seeing Pattie's above post I can think one "love song":
"I Don't Believe In Love"-Queensryche

Just a slight correction... the song is "Nights in White Satin" I believe referring to white satin bedsheets.
I thought for the longest time that it was "Knights" dressed in satin rather than armour but then I got their Legend of a Band cd and discovered I had been wrong for years.
But by any name it's one of the greatest songs ever recorded.

I Love You Goodbye by Thomas Dolby
By any chance is this the same "I Love You Goodbye" Celine Dion recorded? It goes "I'm not the one you're needing...I love you, goodbye"? I'm sure most here would consider it an insult that Celine recorded it if that is the same song.
Anyway, I wanted to add
The Beatles "Real Love" "Something" and "Words of Love"
Norah Jones' version of "More Than This"

Are you a Sam Phillips fan?? I'm trying to teach the world to love her, one person at a time. So far it's working. I'm a somewhat recent fan. :) I saw her name last year on a Gillian Welch site, went and listened to some song clips on Amazon, then bought Fan Dance. I couldn't believe I'd never heard of her before. That's the only album of hers I have so far, though. I've been meaning to buy Martinis & Bikinis for the longest time, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Ohh, god, I love Fan Dance. Get Martinis and Bikinis- but if you like Fan Dance, you'll love A Boot and a Shoe, her newest. It's fantastic.
The Beatles "Real Love" "Something" and "Words of Love"
Hil, did you ever get into that John Lennon Acoustic version of Real Love? I know you like the Threetles version, but I can't stress enough how his demo versions (found on his anthology and the Dakota Demos bootleg) are just sooooo superior. But then again, the version the surviving Beatles did isn't awful by any means. :) I'm just preferable to the gentle quality of John's Real Love.
Words of Love is beautiful. John and George harmonizing together is greatness.
(sorry to all others for coming in like the Beatles-obsessed freak that I am...)

(sorry to all others for coming in like the Beatles-obsessed freak that I am...)I tried, but I never could get into that version of "Real Love." I'm a sucker for the more commercial one. :o Still, you made a great recommendation when you told me to listen to the version of "Watching the Wheels" that's on Acoustic. That is fantastic!
I'm glad you love the WTW acoustic Hil! Its awesome. I have to agree with you in that the Real Love version on that Acoustic CD isn't that great...nothing like the other demo versions. :)
