View Full Version : What stores do you go crazy in?

OK. I after being couped up for about a week I went out for a bit on this nice warm (34F) sunny day. :)
I went to this local shopping area and I went to Office Max to get some ink for my new printer. I love to go there. I go crazy! :distress: I got my ink and I bought some photo paper both 4x6 and 8x10 and some labels. I get so excited in there. They have blank CDs and DVDs, digital cameras and printers, all kinds of fun stuff to make with your photo printer. I could spend my whole pay in there and then some. I love computers and gadgets.
Circuit City is also down the street in this shopping area and I rarely go there. I get high blood pressure in there because they never have what I want and the help is SOOO clueless!
I also went to Borders books. I like to go in there, too. I bought some photography magazines because I like to pretend that I am a photographer.
I also like Staples and CompUSA. Best Buy is another noisy, useless store that I don't go to that much. I used to like it but they just seemed to go down hill with service. I did buy my computer there last spring, however. I also have a gift card that I need to use and what I want is not in the store and I can't use the card online.
I won't even get into clothes and shoes.

Um, any store?
I go ape**** in all of them! More specifically, though, I go nuts in music shops and bookstores. Usually the little hole-in-the-wall type shops. I also go batty in vintage clothing shops. I have an obsession with those stores.

Same here! I loove food! You should see all the crap that I bought last Saturday before the blizzard.
Don't send me to the bakery cause I could by the whole store out.

Same here...music shops and book stores mainly. I could spend so much money on books and music....I also could have spent a bunch of money at this one vintage clothing store in Pasadena I went to a couple years ago, but I didn't have any money on that trip :o . Of course, I love food, so I could also spend LOADS on food. Apparently I spend too much when shopping for other people, from what I'm told...
I found this one vintage shop about three weeks ago and I've been there every other day since.
I must have bought 30 belts from them; they have the most amazing belts. I got a pink and white striped one that has a tongue for a clasp.

Yeah, I used to pretty crazy myself. Not so much now but when I was younger. That and any kind of bath or beauty product like cosmetics and stuff.

I think I am seriously going to be doing more online shopping. I am looking for a place that has some good prices on DVDs. I can't find that Golden Girls DVD anywhere in a store and it is a bit too much $ at Amazon.

I hate shopping in noisy, crowded places. I don't go out much anymore, I've become a hermit. LOL I use to go to Wal-Mart alot, but now, it's an anxiety attack just waiting to happen and I only go if absolutely necessary. I prefer to go to less-crowded, although a little more expensive, Target or Super Target.
I like Best Buy but can get most CD's cheaper online.
As for clothes shopping...I go to Ross (cheap! YAY!!), but I found jeans that fit well at Target. I may have to start buying all my clothes there.
I go to the mall on ocassion, but only if I'm looking for something specific or I wanna go look for new clothes and I REALLY wanna spend money on decent stuff. LOL
Mostly, these days, I buy stuff online...it's cheaper and convenient for me, not having a license or car.
What I REALLY wanna do is go back to London and drop a wad. LOL

at mall music stores like Sam Goody's, FYE, etc., They never carry anything I listen to and their clerks are brainless late teen/early twenty-something twits:
Example-Sam Goody's Early May 2001-
Me-"Do you have the new Stevie Nicks release "Trouble In Shangri-La?"
Clueless Clerk-"Stevie Nicks? Isnt he dead?"
Me-(I said nuthin'...Just turned for the entrance/exit and left laughin' at this brainf**ked asstard!)
Thus one of the many reason's why I do more online shopping than shopping at a store in the physical being...

Kirkland's has great basic lamps at VERY reasonable prices. I have two in my house. They were like $59 each and they look almost exactly like the ones I saw in a designer shop for $500 + each. The only diff. is the cheaper ones were not made of stone while the more expensive ones were - but I cannot tell the diff. so who cares AND I actually liked the cheaper ones more because they were a little smaller, which fit my needs

I am piled up at the Ritz in Atlanta due to the ice storm (you know The Ritz  ) - and they wanted to give me the rack rate - I balked and pulled out all of my organization cards like AAA, ABA, etc. I would up getting the room for WAY less (about $200 less) than the rack rate AND they cut the pet fee in half becuase I laughed out loud when they told me the original price - I also explained that no Ritz in the world has ever chraged me that much  So, yes, if you want a bargain, come shopping with me as I rarely pay retail - I will if it is to die for, but that is a rareity

Interestingly, it was Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts, then Art Deco then modern - it is all a progression to the steamline of modern. I LOVE the Chrysler Building in NYC - I think it is a nice hamony of all three
Also, I truly believe we have Mr. Frank Lloyd Wright to thank for that progression. I think his work was WAY ahead of its time and was brilliant in its simplicity and HUGE tiny detailing

My apartment is pretty much totally IKEA, which isn't a good thing, but it's not necessarily that bad. I'm still very much in my post-college completely broke decorating phase. They have some terrible cheap crap, ugly colors, ugly styles, overly mod- but they have some nice pieces and good bargains. I love my bed (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10101&storeId=12&productId=10963&langId=-1&parentCats=10103*10144) - and I have a great TV bench (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10101&storeId=12&productId=40824&langId=-1&parentCats=10104*10174) that's totally simple but I really like. I also like their some of their linens- they actually have great curtains and sheets, and I have a great duvet cover from them. I need a new couch, and was thinking about this one (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10101&storeId=12&productId=10968&langId=-1&parentCats=10114*10294) .

IKEA is totally a mixed bag. The store itself makes me want to break out into hives, but for my budget- it works. I could spend the same amount of money on cheap furniture from Penneys or something, like a couch that's half polyester and half floral print, or try and troll garage sales, or do whatever- or, I can go to IKEA and get something that I at least like and will hopefully enjoy until it breaks down like the crap it is and I can afford to get something that's actually nice.
I do look forward to someday actually having nice things. That will be really quite nice!!

When my printer was working I would get all kinds of neat stuff for it like printable canvas, t-shirt transfer, business card paper, etc.
I go crazy in The Gap, I love that store. I got this fab retro velvet jacket there this year that I had no business buying. I spend way too much money there.
Same with Banana, I have to just go to the clearance rack and then lleave the store lest I pay retail for anything!
DSW, rows and rows of shoes at great discounts. I am not allowed in there unless I actually "need" shoes.
Borders books and music, similarly to many who have posted before me. I went there recently looking for a specific book and had to keep redirecting myself away from stuff lest I spend a fortune.
Jewelry stores, again, I am not allowed in these.
Ski markets, I could spend ungodly amounts on ski equipment and have.
Makeup counters, I am only allowed near these when they are having their giveaways.
Offbeat boutiques, they have the most unique things and I can spend hours pouring over them.

You're also supposed to get a birthday gift. We have one here in Warwick next to a Barnes and Noble  and I have never been there. I LOOOVE shoes, too. I pretend that I never heard of it before.
When they mark things down you can get some serious deals since the stuff is already priced well to begin with! They keep everything neat too. And unfortunately they have these giant mesh bags so you can put your boxes of shoes in it as you shop. So you are not limited by how many you can reasonably carry.
