Debbie Does "Playboy"

Apparently, Debbie Gibson is trying to revive her electric youth.
The '80s pop phenom, whose hits included "Foolish Beat" and "Into Your Eyes," bares it all in the March issue of Playboy, which hits stands Feb. 11.
The layout reportedly features a "well-defined, yet very sexy, feminine look" for Gibson and marks a departure from her squeaky-queen teen idol image of yore.
Gibson, now 34 and known as Deborah, has turned down offers to pose nude in the past.
"I was born in the wrong era," she told USA Today in 2001. "I'm not comfortable with showing everyone everything. I never say never though. I've said I'd never get a tattoo and I got one."
It seems the Out of the Blue singer has upped her comfort levels in recent years--and Playboy readers will no doubt be looking forward to checking out that tattoo she mentioned.
Coinciding with her body-baring shoot, the singer will release her new, aptly named single, "Naked." She is also at work on a cover of Hall & Oates' "Rich Girl," which will be on her upcoming album.
Her last album, M.Y.O.B. was released in 2001.
Since exiting the glare of the pop spotlight, Gibson has carved a niche for herself on the Broadway stage, appearing in crowd pleasers such as Cabaret and Beauty and the Beast.
She's not the first 1980s pop princess to attempt to leap back into the public eye via Playboy's pages.
Back in 2002, onetime rival Tiffany stripped down for Hugh Hefner's mag, earning the distinction of being "the first teen star to ever do it," in her own words.
The "I Think We're Alone Now" singer actually advised Gibson not to follow in her (bare) footsteps.
"I think it probably wouldn't have the same effect," Tiffany said at the time. "I don't think [Gibson] would do it, frankly...And I don't think she needs to."
Hopefully for Gibson's sake, Tiffany is at least correct about her upcoming spread not having the same effect on the general population--namely little to none.
In addition to hitting the magazine racks next month, Gibson will also be seen in two Broadway on Ice productions in Florida, where she'll perform show tunes with former Olympic skater Brian Boitano.
We're just glad she has a contingency plan in place.

I don't know who she is but somebody obviously needs the publicity.
When they say "bares it all", this is by Playboy standards right? Meaning we might see a hint of breasts (or 'feeders', depending on if you're a newborn or not) and some bare legs. I don't think we'll be subjected to gaping chasms.

My new favorite phrase: "subjected to gaping chasms"

What is it with Debbie's reverting back to Deborah?
This saddens me, that she feels the need to do this for cash. Almost as much as it was to see Belinda Carlisle do Playboy. But, hey, I actually purchased that issue.

She did that a loooong time ago. That was her first strike at an attempt to ditch her bubblegum "Debbie" persona. Of course, it didn't work- hence, the bombing on broadway and now this.... pathetic.

I actually saw her in Les Miserables and thought she did okay. Poor thing. Her music was always ****, though, and her voice is as thin as Jacko's nose.
PERV!!!!
OMG, I had the biggest thing for Belinda Carlisle when I was a wee lad. And that issue did not disappoint.

My particular favorite from that album was I Plead Insanity.
Real has to be my fave album, though. Big Scary Animal cracks me up, even though I know she was being serious when she recorded it.

Belinda seems like a good one to have.
I have this weird playboy with Samantha Fox on the cover, but she is not in it...
I actually really like playboy, you know, the articles and interviews?
One day i was bored and read through a whole bunch my BF had...
I remember a particularly stunning pictorial with Robin Givens...

Samantha Fox is a tramp, I can't stand her. Never could stand her, actually.
Playboy is pure trash. Chyna made the cover! They tout that issue as the biggest selling issue of all time, but the only reason it sold is because folks wanted to see if she was really a woman. At least Belinda's photos were tasteful.

Really? Trash? Is it some other porn mag i was thinking of where i liked the articles? I remember reading an especially enjoyable interview with Joyce Carrol Oates...
well, Chyna is pretty...and yes, Samantha Fox is a tramp, i suppose, i was mainly speaking of the mystery of having her on the cover but not on the inside pages... :)
Wait - you mean Chyna the wrestler, not Chynna Phillips - just got that...

Philips is gorgeous, the wrestler is not. ;)
Playboy has always had good articles, but fake blondes with fake boobs do nothing for me. I remember being disgusted with the Barbi twins. Thought they were just nasty.

Though I never buy it because I think it's filthy, I enjoy reading the articles in Hustler. They rip politicians and celebs new assholes.

But yeah, her features are nice - body even better.

Go Debbie!
Eeeww. Debbie was way too uptight for me, even back in the day. Way too squeaky-clean. I loved Tiffany, even though she didn't write her own songs & Debbie did.
For the past few years, Debbie demanded that everyone call her Deborah because she wanted to be taken seriously as an actress. Now she's doing Playboy? Whatev.
Like anyone honestly cares about what she's doing anymore (not that anyone cares about Tiffany either  )
