Hi All,
Just wanted to wonder whether Stevie would ever be on Oprah, it would be such a great show, its weird that she has never been on before.
Its been 30 years of music and Stevie has had such an interesting life. Just thought I would bring it up anyway.

I always wondered why she hasn't been on, too. But then it kind of made sense in a way... I actually thought of asking Oprah why she's never had FM/stevie on, too... :p

The reason why I believe Stevie's never been on Oprah or even Barbara Walters for that matter,
is because both of them are masters(/mistresses?:) at having their guests "open up".
If Stevie were ever to appear on either one of their shows I think she'd spill ALL her beans
and there'd be no need for her to write her autobiography:) (Yeah I know, dream on silly dreamer... - about her book:)

I can see Stevie sitting across from Oprah or Barbra Walters and just blurting out "I LOVE LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM!" and then running off the stage or something. It could prove to be a total disaster for her. Maybe that's why she stays away!

I have often wondered if she was going to play the "I have been in rehab" card - but decided not to OR she just thought she was too large to be filmed. It is possible she had scheduling conflicts, but come on - one rearranges THEIR schedule for King and Oprah

I'd hate to see Stevie waste her time with Larry King. He asks the most inane questions, then interrupts, and never lets his guest answer a question or get a word in edgewise. Talking about shows that need to be cancelled....
As for Oprah. Hmm. I think she's probably never done it as a sort of protection. There are clearly things Stevie doesn't like to talk publically about (ie. she didn't talk about the drugs at ALL until she was long clean; ditto the whole rehab thing). She might request that certain topics not be broached, like her relationship with Lindsey, and I'd be surprised if most interviewers would agree to terms being set out. Who knows? I think an hour with Stevie, if she wanted to talk, would be heaven. Just wait til she releases that autobiography, baby! She'll be everywhere!!! :] :] :] :] :] :]

For some reason, I just can't see Oprah and Stevie together...I think it's something with their personalities...I get the feeling that Stevie doesn't really like to be interviewed about stuff other than her music...although when she was on Rosie O'Donnell, they were joking around about soap operas...but I really can't see Stevie giving enough stuff to Oprah to fill an hour long show.

Stevie should suck it up and talk already.
I mean I think it could do a lot of good to talk about the bad side of drugs - what they did to her etc....and how she overcame those obstacles etc.....
I think she and Oprah would do well together - Oprah can get along with anyone ;)

It would be interesting to see Stevie try to answer questions and discuss her life honestly in a supposedly unscripted context and with a less scyophantic host than say Rosie O'Donnel.Over the years Stevie has always more than couched the truth of what she was going through at the time only to come clean years or decades after the fact.I remember a Bella Donna era article when she claimed she couldn't even remember her own phone number ,which was most likely true .Then incredibly went on to say 'it has nothing to do with drugs or anything like that'!!!!And of course it took her 20+ years to admit that GDW wasn't just about groupies .Don't anyone hold your breath waiting for her tell all auto- biography since she has already said she is going to wait until everyone else that the beans could be spilled on is dead or too old to care anymore ,and this was years after she claimed to be writing one she would call "The Wild Heart' due out in the mid 1980s.No wonder some shrink thought she needed to be on heavy duty psych meds.

Oprah causes a sensation within my body that finds me with the urge to reach down my esophagus and extract my own organs via a method involving nail clippers, 10 metres of rope and plunger. I will not stand for even Stevie to lower herself to that level, God forbid the thought of Lindsey......lowering himself, I mean. Obviously the isolated thought of Lindsey is quite charming.
Oprah 'empowerment and inspiration are my favourite words' Winfrey and her 'look, Oprah cracked a funny' audience ought to learn that people do not require five minutes of applause for simply announcing that they have a child, recalling a song title, or stating that they eat vegetables. Actually American audiences in general need to learn to stop wasting the air time with freakin applause.
Jen! She returns. Oh and if you're reading this, please don't reply with my name, I'm rather sensetive about that. Sorry.
Not to interrupt, but that was fricking hilarious! Oprah sucks, but i still watch it sometimes late at night. I'm always irritated by Oprah, yet sometimes glean interesting info. I wouldn't really want Stevie et al on Oprah, either, except for the chance to just see them, talking.... :wavey:
I definitely think there's a reason why they've never done it, though, and i respect that.

I'm with you, Amber. Stevie on Oprah certainly wouldn't be my first choice - but I relish the thought of an hour of talk... Sadly, there isn't a great plethora of strong interviewers who would do this kind of sit-down with Stevie Nicks. In the lesser of all evils, the evils being Larry King, Barbara Walters, Oprah, Rosie O'Donnell, I'd take Oprah. Of course, it'd be amazing if Charlie Rose sat down for an hour with Stevie and Lindsey. One can always hope...

Hello! I don't know if you meant your screen name here or your "real" name, but I won't use either...how's that? :) I'm not one for Oprah either, I believe she herds people around her like sheep. People do things solely because SHE says to do them. Think for yourselves people.
And Stevie would never go on there...she's not what Oprah would be looking for.

I confess! I actually emailed The Oprah show when TISL came out and asked them to have Stevie on. Stevie would be great on Oprah. I think she could definately fill a hour's worth of television. Didn't she do a primetime special on ABC or NBC during the TISL period? 20/20, Primetime Live or Dateline? Not a whole hour but a decent interview. I'll have to check my VCR tapes.
I'm still waiting for Oprah to respond to my email.

Yes, she did do something like that, but it was very "generic." "Yes, I'm happy to be off of drugs, they zapped my creativity...I'd love to do another album w/ FM...Lindsey and I are good friends...my music is my art...it's my life...I can't pick a favorite song, it would be like choosing your favorite child."
Stevie is a private person--if people want dirt, they aren't going to get it.

Ah, and what if he sat down on Stevie and Lindsey, for an hour or any randon length of time?I don't care whether Stevie sits down with an ass-kisser, but at least let it be an ass-kisser with some brains & some interesting comments to make. I can practically predict the vacuous garbage that a numnut like Oprah Winfrey would generate. In any serious consideration of Stevie -- & I would say it's about time to take her seriously -- Oprah has absolutely nothing to say & nothing to add. She is utterly irrelevant in the evolving story of Stevie Nicks. (Consequently, I'm not surprised to see great numbers of Stevie fans support the idea of Stevie on Oprah.)
Many years ago, Jim Ladd -- that great old hippie -- was going to bring his esteemed Innerview show to television. Stevie was going to be one of the first guests, maybe even the first. Too bad that plans for the show fell through. Ladd, despite adoring her & being in love with her, always had the knack for getting her to talk, & the things he said in return weren't numnuts.
Of all the press Stevie did for TISL in 2001, my favorite was the series of face-to-face interviews she did with an intelligent music critic, Anthony de Curtis. Anthony is no Stevie idolator, but he thought highly enough of her career that he was able pose engaging questions that we ourselves might have wanted to ask. He also had enough of a brain to keep an interview on a businesslike keel instead of letting it sink into sanctimonious James Lipton crap.
I'd also love for any of the great writers on Fleetwood Mac from the past -- David Gans, Steve Morse, Robert Hilburn, Ken Tucker, etc. -- to take on a lengthy conversation with Stevie. (The guy who recently died -- the chief editor at Billboard -- would have been good, too.)
As for Charlie Rose, bah. Lindsey's interviews with him were embarrassments; Rose has no clue but, like the chirpy little bright kid up front in class, wants to be thought of as "on the wavelength." Rose is a numnuts.

Hi All,
Thanks for all posting to this topic, I didn't realise there would be an
interest, I have emailed Oprah, but no luck yet, I don't think there will
be a reponse which is poor form.
Stevie or all of Fleetwood Mac would be great on Oprah. Living in
Australia we don't get much news on them, so a whole show about them
would be fantastic.
Thanks again.
