So in a spinoff to the movies everyone loves but you hate...

What are some bad movies that you actually enjoy?

Some of mine:

**Dirty Dancing - okay I'm sorry it's a bad movie. Bad dialouge, bad story - but I LOVE it lol
**Mannequin - ONe of my favorite 80's movies
**Encino Man and Son-in-Law - lol...I don't know why - I always liked those movies
**Ghostbusters 2 - I like it better than the first -used to watch it literally every single day when I was in 5th grade lol...

Which reminds me - there's also a bad 80's movie I think it's called "Santa Clause the Movie" - it's got Dudley Moore in it as an elf - I love that movie as well

It's hard to explain why some bad movies are entertaining while others just suck. I love all these movies.

Robot Monster (The worst movie ever made, as far as I can tell -- the "Mime of Love" scene is one I will take to my grave)

Voyage Into Space (a CLASSIC piece of **** -- do you remember little schoolboy Johnny Sokko, in his shorts & suspenders, who commands Giant Robot to beat up the bad guys by speaking into his watch?)

The Incredible Mr. Limpet (Loved it as a child & still do -- it's perfect for newfangled postmodern interpretations)

Babes in Toyland (Disney junk but I love it)

Million Dollar Legs (Probably the worst movie W.C. Fields ever made, but still a hoot -- although you laugh at it as often as you laugh with it)

It's Pat (One of the damnedest things I've ever seen)

Another Man's Poison (Bette Davis & Co. on the English moors)

Slightly Scarlet (Noir with plenty of howlers)

The Poseidon Adventure/The Towering Inferno/Earthquake (Watching people die in large numbers is very amusing in a typical Irwin Allen production)

War of the Gargantua (My personal pick of the men-in-rubber-suits-attack-Tokyo genre. This one features a camp classic moment: Sophisticated lounge singer aboard a cruise ship singing "The Words Get Stuck in My Throat," only to be gobbled up seconds later by the sea monster, which spits out her clothes after consuming her flesh)

Detour (A noir classic, & a damned fun movie to watch; but it's baaad . . . it's like a spoof of a parody of a pastiche of noir conventions)

All Fall Down (More post-Freudian stuff from William Inge)

Valley of the Dolls (Vapid & hysterical, this mess has something to do with pill-popping young women who claw their way to the top of the entertainment profession, only to plummet back to Earth in a fireball. There are scenes of supreme, howlingly painful badness that will live forever)

National Lampoon's Senior Trip (unfortunately, less fun than a lot of the other stupendously bad movies, but Rob Moore shines)

Splendor in the Grass (Freudian camp about adolescents who don't get enough sex & who subsequently go insane -- as one critic said, "the old corn, fermented in a new way")

Naked Gun, etc.

Plan 9 from Outer Space (nicely representative of Ed Wood's oeuvre)

The Thief of Baghdad (Steve Reeves version)

Balalaika (Nelson Eddy in a flop operetta -- best howler number is "Ride, Cossack, Ride")

The Star (Great Bette Davis tantrum -- Sterling Hayden gets it this time)

Beyond the Forest (Bette Davis, sweating from pent-up sexuality, swings her hips around & growls "What a dump!")

Naughty Marietta (Entertaining atrocity with Jeanette Macdonald & Nelson Eddy -- when those two profiles come together singing "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life," it's peerless)

Isle of the Dead (Val Lewton at low -- very low -- ebb)

Voyage Into Space is just a few episodes of the TV series stitched together. The actual episodes were even worse than the "movie." Lord, was that bad.

If it wasn't for "Sweet Mysteries of Life, " Naughty Marietta would be unwatchable. And Frank Morgan is at his most obnoxious in every one of his scenes.

Jason Robards alone made Isle of the Dead unwatchable, but it's worth watching at least once for the ridiculous dialogue. Hilariously bad but incredibly entertaining. No wonder horror films get bad raps, though.

If you thought Valley of the Dolls was a hoot, you should check out Russ Meyer's "sequel," Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. That hack Roger Ebert even co-wrote it. Valley of the Dolls still wasn't anywhere near as campy, trashy, or hilariously bad as the book. But it is only rated PG, after all.

Seriously though - back home there a lot of Weird Al fans - UHF is a must.

Before it came out on DVD I had a bad copy of it - and my ex had an ex-rental of it - great stuff - we watched that on the night of our first kiss  SO romantic eh?

I'm big into Weird Al so do love that movie - and I love the Al - I've see him a couple of times in concert...

I love it!!!!! One of the best on IFC's "cult classic" weekly thing!!!!! :woohoo:

The scene towards the end with the sword decapitation is priceless. I almost choked when I first saw it. The first hour is unbelievably bad, even for a Russ Meyer flick, but the last hour more than makes up for it!

I didn't know they aired it on IFC, I actually bought it years ago. Some of the picks for "cult classics" on IFC are dubious at best. They had Bad Lietenant with Harvey Keitel a few months back and that film has no cult following that I'm aware of. Sometimes they pick some good ones, though, like They Shoot Horses Don't They?, Big Bad Mama, and Polyester.

Omg, I love that movie too! Goldie Hawn is priceless in it.

Has anyone seen Ruben and Ed with Crispin Glover and Howard Hessman? That movie is one of the funniest B movies EVAH and I've never met a soul who's seen it.

I have. :xoxo: And it's hilarious.

Crispin Glover certainly is an acquired taste, though. That man is ten pounds of weird in a five pound bucket. He blows even Vincent Gallo out of the water. You should rent the Willard DVD just so you can see his music video for "Ben."

Omg!! I've seen it!! And you're right, he's about the weirdest person ever to have walked this earth. His character in the Charlies Angels movies always freaks me out too. Yikes!

I just remembered something really hilarious about him...a couple of friends of my sister's had a hand in one of the Austin film festivals a couple of years back. Well, Crispin was supposed to present some of his movies or something one night and my sister's friends said that when he finally showed up (very late of course) he stank to high heaven as if he hadn't showered in weeks!! It doesn't surprise me given his weirdness factor but still, that story always comes to mind when I think about him... blech!

Some Kind of Wonderful is awesome!!!

I'm a psycho Gilmore Girls fan, as umm...everyone on the planet is aware of, and I was THRILLED like a little dork when one of their exchanges this season was this:

LORELAI: Tonight?

LUKE: Are you free?

LORELAI: Yeah, I'm free.

LUKE: Good. 7:30.

LORELAI: What are we gonna do?

LUKE: I've got some thoughts.

LORELAI: Alright, but no taking me to an art museum after hours and then to an empty Hollywood bowl where you give me a pair of diamond earrings that you bought with your college money when all the time you're really in love with your best friend, the drummer, who's posing as our driver for the evening.

LUKE: [pause] Okay, I'll think of something else.

If you have Netflix or a spare $50 laying around, rent or pick up the first season on DVD. It's so solid, and it's the sweetest, smartest, funniest show I've ever watched. You'll become addicted. Heeheehee - no, it's in like it's 5th or sixth season, but only 1 & 2 are out on DVD. I was like you - caught an ep here & there, really liked what I saw but for a while it was on at the same time as some other show I was watching, so I wasn't an avid viewer.

Yep, it's the fifth season right now. I started watching it the same way- an episode here or there, always liking it but always forgetting about it. Then we got a copy of the soundtrack at work, and I realized that any show that had the Pernice Brothers, Bjork, PJ Harvey, Joey Ramone, Ash, The Free Design, Grant-Lee Phillips, Slumber Party, and all these other amazing bands had to be cool... and Sam Phillips, my favorite female artist ever, scores the show.

I rented the first season DVDs and went crazy. SuzeQuze- I DEFINITELY recommend checking out the DVDs.

It's just like a drawing and those with the right answer win. I believe the first two names chosen get the signed acetate, signed album, and billboard poster. The other eight get the signed album and the billboard poster.

Supergirl. Years ago when it first came on HBO I would watch it every time it was on.

Kung Pow. "Chosen One! Weeoooweeeoooo"

Night of the Comet. I used to imagine what it would be like if I woke up one morning and everyone had been turned to dust, and how cool it would be to be able to run around the mall like they did in this movie.

I really love a lot of the movies that others have listed, but I don't think I would consider them "bad"

The entire film gears up to Donna Summers' performance, and then afterward she just walks off the stage and disappears for half an hour? Did Jeff Goldblum get a nosejob after this movie was made? What did Debra Winger want with the dorky dude? They fell in love because they were both wearing cotton? Why did the woman who got stuck in the hall with the dweeb look like a man, but was really a woman? Why did those two teenage girls win the dance competition?
