View Full Version : What are your New Years Eve plans?

What do you plan to do?

I personally don't like to go out on New Years Eve, because of the underexperienced drinkers... "awww, I'm fine, I can drive..." those type. I am trying to get a party together here for poker or euchre, drinking, and whatever may....

I will be at a bar somewhere in West Virginia. Drinking. Dancing. Watching a drag show. Drinking. Food Buffet. Drinking. Dancing. Kissing lots. Drinking.

.....sigh.....It's just another Friday night.

I was going to go up to Boston for the weekend. I don't feel very well so I am going to cancel my trip. I don't mind staying home anyway.

My friends and I will be celebrating at my house this year. We're going to have a hellacious bonfire, pizza, fireworks, and probably setting the woods on fire. Last year, I was kidnapped. The woods did catch on fire because of fireworks.

just staying at home and watch South Park & blast music at incredibly loud volumes just to celebrate the New Year...

However I am disappointed that Dick Clark wont be dropped this year instead of the usual ball in NYC

Well I thought about going out with some friends to a local bar - but bars really aren't my thing, I don't like crowds and I don't really want to be out with the drinker either....so I'll probably stay at home with my Golden Girls DVDs and yeah...sad - but I'm also not feeling top notch this week - so whatever...boring ass New Year's - it'll be my first one without my family...

Hmmm I won't get to see Sydney fireworks this year...we are still the best in the world here by the way, if you have a list of things to do before you die, add seeing a sydney firworks display on new years eve to it, Aussies know how to party.

We go to dinner every year with my best friend & her husband. After that, we're undecided.

We can go to a friend's house, but she lives kind of far away, so we'd either have to stay sober enough to drive home (BOO!) or spend the night on the floor.

OR

We can go to hubby's brother's house, which we usually do on NYE. They live walking distance away, which is a big plus. But then we'll have to deal with his sister, who, shall we say, "transforms" after a certain number of beers. She starts repeating herself & talking about how terrible she had it as a kid (which she didn't really.)

I've left it up to hubby to decide. I actually wouldn't mind staying home, sitting in front of the fire, playing some board/card games & getting smashed just the two of us - you know, real romantic like. :D We'll see.

People say that Christmas has to be a winter holiday but can you imagine a new year's in winter? It's got to be summer and the Aussie way of seeing in the new year. Drinking all summer night long, on or near a beach. Of course up here it's we've got all the palm trees aswell which just adds to the atmosphere. If you had to wake up in a gutter with a hangover on new year's day, you'd want it to be an Australian gutter.

Having said that I'm still going to do little more than just get depressed that yet another day of celebration is actually a piece of ****. That and get high.
Sorry Lux, that's where your wrong  New Year's in winter is the only way to ring in the new year! Sitting by a fire, snuggling up to keep warm (drinking helps too) with the snow falling outside, thinking about (& appreciating more your upcoming vacation in some warm tropical island) is the best! Besides if your going to be hungover the next day, you might as well be in bed if the weather is cold & lousy and then you don't feel as bad wasting the day in bed!  :sorry: :woohoo:

That's not what I've heard. ;)

I? Am up in the air....I've been invited to a really cool-sounding Vegas-themed party, pretty close to my home, easier to dodge the idiot drivers on amateur night. So, I may check that out. I am more excited about January 1st than anything happening NYE - Rose Bowl Parade, Rose Bowl Game, and Mystic Knights of the Sea playing at the Continental Club later that evening...Hook 'em Horns!! (shuddup Brian). :D

I’m going to a good old-fashioned shindig in a barn. Blue Grass music, food, but no fireworks allowed. I’ll be shooting off a rocket after the party though. Mission control has given the all clear to shoot a rocket into orbit carrying a payload of clam chowder. All I need to do is get a payload specialist willing to go along for the ride. :]

Here's the evite party description of where I'm going: :woohoo: Travis, call me if you want the address. :p

This New Year's Eve -- Renew your vow to party hearty! Renew your vow to meet new people! Renew your vow to not get thrown in the pool! Renew your vow to wear that "VaVoom!" outfit you've been saving! Renew your vow to NOT STAY HOME ON NEW YEAR'S EVE! Renew your vow to stay to the wee hours, pruning up in the hot tub discussing politics! Renew your vow to ACTUALLY get some booty this year!

We'll have fake rings, an Elvis-impersonatin' fake preacher, fake veils and fake sentiments and congratulations! "Renew your vows" with your current spouse or "marry" a stranger you've just met. Or take a trial run with your significant other -- take 'em for a fake spin and turn 'em back in again like a leased car! OR, just be a witness! We'll cheer you and your new beloved with champagne toasts, the usual spread of food, cocktails, wine/beer, and fabulous music, in our fake Las Vegas drive thru atmosphere. Every hour we'll draw 2 names from the basket of single people to get "married." (Perhaps you'd like to spend a 5-minute honeymoon in the Chamber of Love!) Good luck!

I pity you Americans having to deal with a winter new years eve, seriously if I was rich enough I would fly you all down here for the night, it is an amzing enchanting experience, one Million Sydney siders and tourists around the harbour all drinking, all having fun, playing cricket, FAMILIES there along with partying teenagers, you HAVE to come once in your life, it is amazing and surreal, just everyone talking to each other there is nothing like it.
Then the fireworks, yew, nothing beats a Sydney fireworks display, pity you Americans pity.

Hon, I love your new icon, the bloody one was too much for me. AND I am digging what you've had to say since you've decided to be "vocal". Barn? For real? I don't believe it.

Oh yeah, PS, I own a very sheer Rhiannon dress, it is chiffon. :]

I’ve been to this one before. It has a huge kitchen, dressing rooms, and bathrooms. It looks like a real barn inside except there are no horse turds  and the hay is sprayed with a fire retardant. The owner rents it out for weddings and parties.

Rhiannon dress? Oh my, tell me more about it. I hope it’s white. How about the boots? Are you coming to the party? :]

Well my plans have been finalized...looks like I"ll be sitting around my place hopped up on cough/cold medication and trying not to get tired of the sounds of my own hacking cough.....haha..if I can actually stay up until midnight (because of all the meds. I want to get the Golden Girls DVDs too. I had gotten a few gift certificates to a local shopping plaza which contains a Circuit City or as I now call them Circuit Sh*tty. Well, I went tonight and they were all sold out of them. I did finally get Seinfeld Season 3 (Did you hear that Alex!) and they matched Best Buy's sale price of $29.99 after I had to explain the ad to the dumb clerk. The line was 10 miles long so he just gave up and gave it to me for the sale price anyway.

I went to do a take order at Applebee's and got to deal with some more geniuses. Needless to say I really did not enjoy my meal. :(

Anyway here I am. I am going to maybe watch some of the Seinfeld DVDs and maybe watch some Mac DVDs.

I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I am not feeling too well either so I understand. Better health in the New Year! :woohoo:
