I got that Fleetwood Mac book that I mentioned in my thread already. I got a Xmas throw with polar bears on it from my secret Santa at work. I got a really cute shampoo and conditioner set that was in with a stuffed bear from a co-worker. She also gave me a ton of candy including a large Hershey’s kiss. :blob1: I got a Mistletoe Yankee Candle from another co-worker.
Where's Lindsey?

From one of my friends I got a gift card to Best Buy and Dunkin Donuts. She also got me more candy. :blob2: She also put a little penguin sticker on my gift bag tag. My other friend got me a manicure set and homemade fudge.

I got a few gift cards from my Dad and some $. I also got a ton of candy from See’s. They have a seasonal kiosk in Providence Place Mall that closes Christmas Eve. I told my Dad about it I think he might have wanted to know ;)

I am expecting some Mac ‘goodies’ but Santa seems to have given them to some really slackers of elves called the US Post Office. I don’t know where my package is.

I hope that everyone had a happy holiday.

I got a record player!!!!1!11!1!!!1

It's so pretty. It's one of those wooden CD/Record/Tape/Radio things. The sound is great, too. I played a record as soon as I opened it, and it sounded crystal clear. I looove it. <333

I also got the Acoustic Guitar magazine with Lindsey on the cover, money, certificates, a makeup bag, two skirts, penguin pajamas, jewelry and candy. Woot. :D

I work my butt off 60 hours every single week so one good thing came from it, a $1000 bonus. That came in very handy. Other than that, I got some nice stuff but I am alone Christmas. SIGH. Oh well.

Have a lovely Christmas everyone!

Live in Boston, Destiny Rules, several pajamas but no penguins, a yorkie tote, patched teddy bear, fleece throw with my name embroidered on it, pink cross & bead bracelet, sapphire/diamond earrings, purses, gift certificates, toe socks, clothes and more clothes.

The first two things are what I wanted most. I'll be doing after Christmas shopping.

I got socks that smell like candy (smell my feet, they're chocolate  ), two glitter belts, a smoothie maker, a tea kettle, and a NanoPuppy. I feel like I'm back in junior high without all the drama. I got some nifty gifts from my Mac friends over the past two weeks or so... everything from a manicure kit and bubble bath to Destiny Rules. I feel like making a smoothie, doing my nails, and doing some online shopping for the stuff I really need.

I got from my parents a Far Side book (I don't have any, they have them all) and I got this gorgeous Stevie burned velvet shawl from my dad. It has black fringe and different color "dark" panels of designs in it. It's hard to describe, but it is so beautiful. It's weird that it's Stevie ish, cause my dad wouldn't do that on purpose - guess he just has good taste. Oh, and i got a crock pot (which is actually cool) and $200. Thanks mom and Dad!
*Edit - Stevie/Fleetwood Mac has to do another show just so I can wear this shawl. It's that good.*

I got a large framed African painting of a sunset on the Masai from my mother (I actually mentioned I wanted to buy this a couple of months back so it's cool she remembered my fondness for African art)

I also got the book "The Dark Horse Years... The Life and Art of George Harrison" which was totally unexpected but is very cool because I love George's work...

I got Michael Palin's Himalayas book from a fellow Ledgie

And I got a garden full of snow for the first time in many years on Christmas day. :p which has really made it a great feeling... Looking outside and seeing a really festive sight... :]

Yay! It is their best album. I love Tragic Kingdom, too, but ROS is just so angsty and well-written/produced. I've been listening to both albums, plus Gwen's solo album a lot lately. And I'm tempted to color my hair hot pink again, because of ROS. XD

I got the Gilmore Girls season 2 DVDs, a really cute new watch, two of those plug and play Atari clone video games (Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man, between them they also have Galaga, Pole Position, and a bunch of others on there), $20 in Blockbuster gift cards, some photo albums, candles, cash, and only ONE penguin-related gift. Normally they go overboard and all I get is penguin crap.

DeadliestPoison
12-25-2004, 08:35 PM
- Sony Walkman (my old one had been dropped SO many times)
- Blondie's "Eat To The Beat" and "Plastic Letters" from my sister (I ordered "The Hunter" from Amazon, so my collection's pretty much complete. On to Solo!Debbie!)
- Two shirts
- Blondie's Behind The Music DVD
- Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD (It's fullscreen, though, so I have to get it exchanged for the widescreen)
- Buffy Season 7
- Penguin swag

I'm going to go out later this week and get Patti Smith's "Trampin'," The Pretenders' "Viva El Amor," and possibly Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind if I have enough money left.

I didn't get what I was really hoping for -- an external harddrive (this computer can't handle another internal). I have, like, 600 megs left on this, so I was really shooting for one. :\

I need one of those too! Ever since I got my iPod, I've completely crammed my hard drive with my music collection. I think I'm working with like 300MB of free space. I didn't want to ask for one, though, because I knew they wouldn't get me the one I wanted or needed.

My dad just gave me a late Christmas present in a bottle of vodka when he went to the liquor store. He put a bow on it. Do Christmas screwdrivers count as a Christmas present?

Um.......nothing

Well this thread is depressing.Lux I’m not wearing your shoes, but understand a little about why you’re depressed. It’s nice to have family and friends to get together with for the holidays, but the gift giving crap is nothing more then a show for a lot of people. They piss and moan while shopping and pay out the a$$ for months to come.

I have family living close and we get together a few days out of the year, but the dysfunctional sh!t I have to deal with when it happens is sickening. I usually make up excuses to get out of the events and do something I know I’ll enjoy. They know it and rarely bother to call anymore to give an invite. That’s fine with me. I’d rather it be that way then regret having sat around with those bunch of false snobs.

You’ve got to get out and meet some people. Experiment new things and make your own fun. It sounds like no ones going to do it for you. Very few do. Get out there girl and dive into it head first. Surprises can be found in places you least expect them, but if you don’t try you’ve got no one to blame but yourself. The depression will kill you, and the world will go on doing what it will.

You might actually be enjoying this depression and don’t even know it? I’m sure you don’t want to hear this but….. Nobody likes a person that whines all the time. They like you even less when you ruin the fun they’re trying to have. It’s all in your head girl and you have the power to make that change. If you don’t do it, you’re nothing more then a selfish fool. It’s your choice. Maybe I’m wrong?

bought Deb & myself stuff (She bought my older brother Geary j. & myself training style sweat suits, For what reason is beyond us....Which look more like gangbanger clothes...So we had our pictures taken doing "gang signal" BS and otherly cheesin' it up, Cant wait to see the picture of Geary, his daughter/my niece Kendra & myself cheesin it while Geary had his finger poking up in Kendra's nose!!! ), But we would have preferred nothing since Christmas is not that big a deal to us.

The only true gift worth a mention was seeing my Uncle Steve j. for the first time in nearly 20 years...What's cool is that he lives in the neighborhood I grew up in and that my Mother still resides in. I am going to get to know my late Father's side of the family again...For some reason when my Father died in 1977 there was a major falling out between my Mother & my Father's family (Mainly due to some stupid BS on my Mother's part.)

It's not the lack of gifts, trust me.

Ok, I guess it's back to denial or atleast pretend smiling, just to please people. So if they have something to whine about, it still doesn't count? Just carry on in denial so as to make friends?

I wasn't aware that you knew my precise situation. So it's all in my head is it? Well ****, I wish I'd known that earlier, I wouldn't have wasted my entire life with what is apparently non-existent. As for being a selfish fool for not doing whatever this is, that's like calling someone selfish because they won't run faster than they're able. Yeah, I think you are wrong, but then that's just in my head so who knows.

Sorry for speaking up with what is the truth. Should I have lied? Probably just not said anything I guess, but at this time of year everyone goes on about the wonderful things which just draws attention to where it's the opposite. I could just shut-up and ignore everyone but I am actually human and so I just get bitter. Plus, don't I have the right to experience what is natural? Just because it's not joyous and doesn't fit in with the theme, shall we just repress it? Am I high? Perhaps. It's still the truth and perhaps it's a good mechanism for bringing forth what would otherwise be denied.

Carry on. I honestly didn't mean to interupt, I was just giving my account.Lux sometimes I type things thinking it sounds right, but people read into it many different ways. You’re right and you are being honest about the way you feel. No I don’t know your precise situation. I don’t think I claimed to? I’d like to say something to make you feel better? I hope you at least see I care?

If my last post came out wrong I really didn’t mean it that way. I can be an ass sometimes, because when I went through depression the only thing that brought me out was tough love. It worked for me but it doesn’t work for everyone. I don’t know what else to say but “I’m sorry and I hope everything gets better for you.”

Mostly though I got to go home and see my friends and family and bask in the sun - and look at the stars - now, however, I'm back in the frozen tundra and just trying to stay warm :D

I personally love Street Angel. It's my second favorite Stevie record.
*cough*he's crazy*cough* :p

Sounds like everyone got some cool gifts. I'm jealous.

i mostly got clothes - which I did not want my parents to buy me cause, well, they always buy the ugly stuff ha. They surprised me this year though. I'll only have to take back three things for sure.
What else did I get..oh yeah:

Tons of giftcards: best buy, borders, gap, etc..
CD's: U2 - War, Jeff Buckley - Grace, Linking Park & Jay Z :p
Movies: Nightmare before Christmas (!), Trainspotting, High Fidelity (so disappointed I didn't get Napoleon Dynamite!)
Also I got the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe :woohoo:
That's about it.

Good choice! :)

There is a Fashion Commentary Bonus Feature by Joan and Melissa Rivers, but I haven't watched it yet to give feedback.

I got "Most of All the Best Of Deborah Harry." I've wanted it for ages and since it was never released in the US, it's hard to find. Great remixes that I've never heard.

my favorite gift came from my older sister Theresa. My family plays a football league each season on Yahoo. I'm the commissioner, and she made for me a thermal throw blanket with the Redskins colors and my KBL (kirk blitz league) logo.. very, very nice..

and my second favorite gift is MUSIC! (gotta plug this one...it's my current favorite non stop listening cd... ah.. the blues..and the rock it created..

A good friend gave me the Alligator Records 20th Anniversary compilation.. Blues and rock.. great, great gift of music. I love the tracks by The Kinsey Report (Full Moon on Main Street), Katie Webster (Pussycat Moan), and pretty much all of disc one.. (2 disc comp.) any blues fans out there will love this compilation.. shades of early Fleetwood Mac.. it's amazing how much good music is out there that slowly trickles to me... it's always nice.. but I wonder, what else am i'm not hearing that is so very good..???

..and a happy new year..
let's hope its a good one..
