The one that immediately pops up in my head is Just Like a Woman....... That would probably be the number one least favourite.

I don't think I've posted to this thread, and I don't want to go back through to see, so I'm posting my list now:

Dislike:

Gate and Garden (WTF is she singing about?)
I Will Run to You
Sable on Blond (again...WTF is she singing about?)
Desert Angel (Operation Desert Shield! Operation Desert Storm!)
Love's a Hard Game to Play (Brett Michaels? WTF was she thinking?)

Could've Done Better:

Rhiannon (studio version)
Welcome to the Room...Sara
When I See You Again (she stares at the stairs...OMGWTF?)
Sometimes It's a Bitch (Again with the heavy metal has-beens)
Too Far from Texxaaas (Nice song, dreadful vocal)
That Made Me Stronger (The "can you write this for me, he says no you write your songs yourself" line is what sinks this one)

I know that I have previously expressed my displeasure with her rendition of I Still Miss Someone...but it has really grown on me. I have also grown to love Alice...indeed, I think OSOTM may have surpassed RAL as my favorite Stevie album. :D

I'm not exactly a Stevie fan so this isn't the best subject for me to respond to, but she does have a lot of songs that I do really enjoy, so I'll try to be fair about the ones that I really don't enjoy.

Crystal (from the Practical Magic soundtrack) Lyrically this is a very beautiful song and sounded beautiful on both FM and BN and I'm not saying that because Lindsey sang it. It could have been equally as beautiful if she had done the vocal but only while she was still a young woman. Her now rough voice does not do the song justice.

Unconditional Love - I know that she didn't write this song, so she can't be blamed for the words, but she can be blamed for choosing to sing them. There's something about the line "The one condition of love is there are none at all." that just irritates me!

Planets of the Universe (from TISL) - I don't much care for this album at all but this song in particular bugs me. I've heard the demo version of this song. I LOVE THE DEMO VERSION OF THIS SONG. But this-- this just rips out all the emotion of the demo (everything that made this song great) and puts SYNTHETIC BEATS to it!!! WTF????

Goodbye Baby - never liked this song even as a demo. I know its a very personal song for her but I could do without it.

Goldfish and Ladybug - The lyrics make a nice a little poem, but just don't quite cut it as a song.

Twisted (Enchanted) - And no, its not because Lindsey's not on this one... the music is awful (yes I know its a demo) and the vocal is slowed way down from the Twister version. I skip it everytime.

Rhiannon (piano version) - The thing that I love most about Rhiannon is the guitar line - so of course if you replace that with a piano I'm not going to be happy.

Free Fallin (Enchanted) - As I've said previously, I have issues with cover songs in general and I'm not thrilled with what she's done with this one. I do actually enjoy her version of Zevon's "Reconsider Me" though.

As others have stated -some of the remakes /covers (with her Older voice...)just wasn't a really bright idea. i.e.:

Free falling -hated it when Tom Petty whined through it too, but Stevie..what were you thinking?
Silent Night-lord, she sounds like a goat..niiiggggghhhhhhhht! dreadful
Running through the Garden-should have kept on running...

Honestly, Stevie is my inspiration,I sound like her when I sing ( a little) and I love singing along and listening to 95% of her music. Liked her better with Lindsey vocalizing along. Will always turn the volume way up for: Frozen Love,Crying in the night, Silver Springs (original) When I see you again, and recently their work on Say you will like, Say Goodbye and Smile at you.

What can I say, I love the Buckingham/Nicks sound and always will

Oh god, I totally forgot about this song... and for once it isn't Stevie's fault that I hate it!!! It's the fault of whoever is playing the guitar. It isn't the music itself that bothers me... I can't stand it when guitar players don't lift their fingers up when sliding along the fretboard from one chord to another. It creates this god awful scraping noise that overpowers any actual music they're making and grates on my nerves! UGH!!! sorry, just had to vent about that one.

I have a total different perspective on this. I think Stevie is a complex artist and life has made her even more complex. It's great to listen to her Buckingham/Nicks sound, but it's just one part of her creativity. Her voice right now has a quality that many great artists never had, it's uncompromising. For instance, the emotions of Running Through The Garden, sung by her actual voice, arrive to me with a much stronger impact then some of her songs sung by her seventies' voice. An example is Silver Springs: it's an incredible song, and to hear it performed by her more mature voice, it's a totally different, more engaging experience.

I don't know, I prefer her old demos from when she remakes them in the later years. And Silver Springs I am torn. I think the Dance version is #1, but after hearing the 70's one on the RUmours remaster....I don't know. That one is damn good, and very angry! And I know on that one, the emotion is all very fresh. But on the Dance, it was like a resurgence of the same feelings, which is very cool, too. I thought Silver Springs on LIB was awful though. Am I alnoe there?

I think the majority of people that post on this board prefer the simplier Stevie- That is why we like the simple demo's and the "sweet songs" although you can feel the anger on Silver Springs(Original Version), it has "that" sound...with the slide guitar whining that just captures you and makes you listen to the music-not just the words. As much as I admire her talent for writing mysterious songs that we can all ponder the meanings of....there is no question that throughout her career Lindsey has complimented her beyond compare....She knows that .As does he. and I somethimes think that has alot to do with the anger of their songs to each other. Not just the love lost but the spirit-the other sense of self that each has with the other...Without sounding too mystical or "out there" I believe they are ONE- he is grounded while she is floating/ She is reasonable, logical-he is tempermental/ she is a dreamer, he is reality...I don't know I think in their own minds..They are forever a part of the other.
Make any sense to anyone else////or am I just rambling...??
Just my own thoughts on anger and destiny>>>

Blah. I don't really care for Stevie's "sweet" 70's voice. Take Silver Springs for example...I cannot stand the Rumours version. I find it totally lacking.

To be honest, I miss Stevie's 81 - 83 voice. That was her best vocal period, in my opinion. But, I also love her voice now.

I agree totally about Stevie's 81-83 voice, but disagree about not liking the old voice. That voice would come in "second" over nowadays' voice.

Of course I care! Hmm..maybe I should retract my statement about the 70's voice..there's times when I like it, times when I don't.

The Original version of Silver Springs is not the one that you hear on Rumors released....I don't know where it is from but both Lindsey and Christine sing backing vocals...I think it may have been from the boxed set of the chain from years ago...I find it hard to believe that you can't listen to Beautiful Child or Gold Dust Woman and not think her voice sounded GREAT-Sweet, husky, sexy, mysterious...whatever. You prefer the 81-83 voice? Like which particular songs...that were released, not demos?
I am curious...

I have that version of Silver Springs as well. I still prefer The Dance version.

Um, as for the 70's voice... I dislike the vocals on Landslide, Dreams, Silver Springs, and I Don't Wanna Know. By the time Tusk came around, her voice was changing already, and I do like the Tusk voice. Beautiful Child is one of my favorites of hers..

Anyway, I think her voice was just so much more powerful from BD to WH. She may have lost some of the high notes by then already, but to me, Edge is her absolute best vocal ever. Sleeping Angel, Gypsy, Violet and Blue, Blue Lamp, Stop Draggin My Heart Around, Sable On Blonde, Beauty and The Beast....the list could go on and on.

I don't like the goofy circus sounding organ in I Still Miss Someone. I also really don't like the song Street Angel. Sounds like Phil Colins music, and probably the more dullest of Stevie lyrics.

I *love* NIghtmare (I used its lyrics when doing a paper on Hemmingway in high school and got an A! - no, I didn't plagerize, I footnoted Stevie - you cannot know the dream, until you've known the nightmare....by the way, Hemmingway was a drag, so Stevie atleast spiced it up for me when having to do the paper). And I love Imperial Hotel. So I guess I'm weird. Or older than some of you and more acceptable of the 80's tunes - lol!

I love I Miss You - one of my faves on that album. And also Fall From Grace is a all-time favorite song of Stevie's to me now. I also love Reconsider Me.

I hate It's Only Love. I dislike Sorcerer on TISL (although I *love* the FWM demo of it). I dislike Love Is Like A River. There are some okay parts to it, and I like some of the lyrics, but not the music at all.

Silver Girl is weird because it eminds me of a song I wrote about Stevie when I was in high school. BUt I thought mysong was only so-so, and I think Silver Girl is so-so - lol! But it's much better than my song though!

I have to be in the mood to listen to It's Late. So I could do without that one. Although if I am in the mood, I enjoy it.

Otherwise I'd say I pretty love almost all of her songs. Some remain all time favorites with me, ever since I became a Stevie fan around 79-80. Then there are some others that come and go as my favorites that I listen to over and over again.

Blue Lamp, Gypsy, If Anyone Falls, Angel, Wild Heart, - those are a few of my all-time, have always, and still do just die for Stevie songs.
