View Full Version : Desert Island

I'm sure we've discussed this before but if you were stranded on a desert island which member of the band (past or present) would you want to be stranded with you and why?
I would choose John because he would be a good laugh and I think he would be very practical in terms of building a shelter, looking for food etc.
Christine would also be a good choice for the same reasons but I think John would be physically stronger and able to protect me from wild animals etc.
Mick would be quite good because he is so tall but I fear Lindsey and Stevie would be hopeless. Stevie would be good fun but I think I would have to do all the work and Lindsey would probably just whine that he hadn't got his guitar with him or something.
Any thoughts?

omg, this is so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~
i would have 2 pick stevie tho, even if she wasn't good @ finding/building shelter or finding food & such, i would risk mayb not lasting as long if i picked another more useful bandmember, just 2 sit & chat w/ the enchanted one   ~

Are you sure about that? John's short, too, so he wouldn't be very good at gathering. Christine and I could make coconut and banana wine, scratch Mick's name on the side of the decanter for a laugh, get lit, and retire to our cave. :woohoo:
Hey, a fella can dream.....

I'd have to take Mick just because he's so tall he could reach coconuts with ease. Not to mention that he'd be able to make music the easiest since he's a drummer. Just find a few rocks and we'd be jammin' like it's after a Survivor reward challenge.

I'd take Stevie. With only two people on the island, it would be important to have someone there to keep the conversation going, and I'm sure there would never be a quiet moment. Besides, being around that much ocean/desert, I'm sure she would be able to knock out a few thousand extra songs from all the inspiration. Plus, platforms could be used as hammers for building shelter and for bashing wild game over the head for dinner. Chiffon = fishnet. And all the big flashy jewelry could be used to signal rescue planes, or start a fire if we got the angle to the sun just right.
I'd never take Lindsey. I'd be at the hut trying to make coconuts and grub worms different, and he'd be lying around practicing the guitar!!! :D

Yes John is kind of short but I think he said something in his Q&A about wood working or something like that so he would probably be able to build a shelter. He can probably catch fish as well. If he caught them I could bash 'em over the head and then he'd have to do the messy bit but I could cook them (if he'd made a fire that is)
Actually I don't think I'd be all that much use on this island!

Stevie would be helpless. Mick would drive me nuts with all his talking. John would be too quiet. Christine would be tough and dependable. But, I think Lindsey is the only one I'd want to have sex with, so he wins. I can gather food, kill animals, and build stuff by myself. Then again, that Billy Burnette was kind of cute too.

this is really stupid -
but i'd have to vote for Lindsey and Chris because they'd be able to have a conversation about something other than Fleetwood Mac (or themselves).
My gosh I don't think I'd want to be with any of them. I can't see any of them being of much use on a desert island. If I had to pick it would probably be Stevie but I'd make her sing to me all the time. Hey, I'd settle for an Ipod with all of my FM stuff on it!

I think while Lindsey would whine a lot I still would pick him. It might get cold at night and I would rather cuddle with Lindsey to keep me warm. ;)
Who knows maybe we could find a practical use for his hair.

Sparky has the right idea.
Stevie would be useless and work my nerves after awhile, I think. It would be cool at first, tho, oh, and no romance. Mick, like John said, talks too much for my liking, so no. John would be cool to have around, but he's more like an uncle figure, so no romance there. LOL!! Christine would be fun too, we could have some great girl talk or something and she has a great sense of humour, again tho...no romance. Jeremy would be a great choice, if it were like 1969 or something. I'm not into cults, thank you. LOL Peter, :(, before the LSD took over, sure. Danny, sweet, shy, Danny...from what the rest of FM members say about him, I don't think he'd be fun to be around. :distress: Bob Welch would be cool, but yeah, no romance. Bob Weston was a cutie back in the day, and I think he's not bad today...so he's a maybe. Don't know much about him, except if there's another gal on the island, he would cheat on me. LOL Rick Vito and Billy Burnette, don't know much about them, but I'm sure they'd be nice to be around. Bekka, nice gal, I'm sure, no romance.
My choice: Lindsey. ;) He's hot and he'd keep me entertained by finding various stuff on the island to use on his record...when we finally got rescued, even tho I'd try everything in my power to make that NOT happen.

It would be all mine!!!!!!!!!! :]

I just got back from a weekend away and this thread cracked me up!
No way would I ever pick Stevie or Mick. Just the rambling alone would drive me insane. Lindsey... he sure would be lovely to look at, but frankly on a desert island I need a man with more than good looks. Imagine him fishing or building a shelter etc.....no way. So we're left w/ Chris and John..and really I don't know if Chris could hack island life at this point, she's been pampered for too many years now. :p John, on the other hand (and some of you have said he's short-- he's really not, I think he's like 5' 10... maybe just next to LB and gargantuan Mick he looks shorter than he is)-- but anyway, I think he would by far be the most useful in terms of diving for/catching/cooking fish, making fire, finding/building a shelter etc.
And since a few of you have focused on who would make the best eye candy for the duration, I should also add that i think John is a handsome chap, his profile is to die for, and I could live w/ cuddling up w/ him in a cave. I also think he would be good for some intelligent conversation during down time (although we might have to tread cautiously when discussing anything political....and my other fear is that the the lack of cigarettes would make him irritable. ;) )
I wish he would've answered that question in his Q&A LOL. I don't think anyone would have been too furious over not being chosen to be his companion on a make-believe desert island. It would've been interesting to hear his opinion!

I' ve voted Stevie because I'd die to see how she would handle such a situation :D , but I totally agree, John would be my choice among the gentlemen in FM too; his sense of humour, intelligence and self-irony make him for me more appealing than Lindsey (yeah, I know... ), or Mick.

This was funny, but i happen to think Lindsey would be the worst rambler of them all. I feel like i'd have to go..."just shut up and take your clothes off, dammit!!! yes, yes, your cocunut/palm string guitar is very nice...you gonna play that thing all night, or what?!!!"

I agree he does ramble. However-- since in my eyes he is stunningly gorgeous-- I'd be inclined to more easily forgive him than I would Stevie or Mick. ;) Aside from looking fantastic, though, I still think he'd be useless on that island.

I still say Stevie. Didn't Mick write in his book something about Stevie running around the Hawaiian islands on a "dot of acid" (maybe when she met Sharon Celani)? THAT's the Mac island experience I want. After twirling around the island (and having it twirl around us) for 18 hours, who cares if we live or die? :p
As for this whole "snuggle up with Lindsey" thing, I have two words: Anne Heche. Sure, you'd be one degree of separation closer to doing Ellen Degeneres (which I bet would be a BLAST and I wouldn't mind at all), but ... just ICK.
Besides, sooner or later, he'd get jealous that you were more popular with the seagulls, and he'd follow you around imitating you, and then kick you in front of all your flying friends. Then, you'd have to smack him and throw a husk of coconut milk in his face (since Christine isn't around). Then you'd be stuck with him, as he sulks and practices the guitar...

Imagine all the cool Spirit Catchers Stevie would create with local flora and crap that washes up on the beach! Sure, they're kinda fugly, you'd trip over them constantly, and you'd never get any sleep from waiting for The Blair Witch to pop out from behind the nearest palm tree.

I just thought of another thing... (I know ... GIVEITARESTALREADYSHEESH!!!)
The answer to this question is really simple -- we have all the proof we need from the "Hold Me" video...
- Lindsey couldn't break a simple pane of glass in one try with a heavy object.
- Christine's a big whiner when it comes to sandstorms.
- The first big pit full of worthless, jacked up guitars you come across, Mick and John would fall in, and you'd be all alone.
Stevie, on the other hand, not only looked FABULOUS, she also managed to astral-project herself in order to create an oil painting of herself, and then she carried said painting across the TOP of a sand dune IN PLATFORMS (and probably as high as the Hubble Telescope while doing so).

Mr. Buckingham..without a shadow of a doubt. I am picturing him emerging from the ocean, sans clothes, curls dripping with salt water, blue eyes sparkling in the sunlight. AGHHHHHH. heaven. He could practice his bamboo guitar all day long, as I work. Then he could sing me to sleep every night in our comfy hut. He would tell me all his secrets, write me fabulous love songs and I would never, ever want to get rescued!! (the Anne Heche thing doesn't bother me, he has showered since then)
Second choice would be Stevie. Even though she would be useless, she would make for GREAT conversation.

He's such a cool dude I don't think building a shelter or hunting for food would be a big deal to him as it isn't to me.. Gotta be laid back.. He's also a funny guy and if I'm gonna be stuck with somebody humour in difficult situations is a requirement and I'm sure Bob knows a bit about that.. ;)
Second choice would be John McVie for mostly the same reasons.. But he's second choice because Bob plays guitar, I play guitar... I fear if it was myself and John (being a bass player) we would "butt heads" and have the odd musical difference..

Lindsey's my choice. Yeah, he rambles on A LOT, but he's a guy, he'd get horny eventually and stop talking in circles/cycles and wanna have sex, thus I could then acheive one of my lifelong goals....................... ;)
I'm thinkin he rambles, plays guitar, fiddles, fidgets, etc. in his sleep, IF he ever even sleeps. That could become somewhat annoying.
.......It would be cool to talk to Stevie for hours on end, but nah. Still gotta choose Lindsey.

Well this is my post so I want everyone on my damn island!
I will share my hut, 3 bedrooms with Billy Brunette, Christine, Sara Fleetwood, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. Billy will sleep in my room bc hes hot and I bet hes a good lay. Chris and Sara can have one, and Pat and Neil in the other. We need a militant female rocker like Pat on the island to help build everything :D . Stevie will just cry and wanna make a necklace out of leaves all day.
Stevie and Lindsey can have their own damn hut on the other side of the island and drive each other crazy  . Anyone that breaks any laws will have to be locked up with the 2 of them and have to interrogate them over the TITN studio sessions.
Sharona will be on hand to stand there all day long in her black uniforms like a totem pole to scare away any other island visitors. She fits this role the best since she looks like Morticia Adams anyway. Bobbe Hall will be around at night to play the bongo drums for everyone--not Mick bc then he will just want to put his damn vest on; and after the last tour I think we have had enough of that for a while lol. Bekka and Lori Perry will be on hand to help out with meals, esp since all that Stevie can do is stand there wine and cry. Her brother Chris will be there to to do every damn thing for her.
Waddy will be there to babysit all the kids :xoxo: . Jimmy Iovine will be our negioater if we need one  . If we get off this damn island, John will be our captain  of our boat and sail us back to civilization. Im sure by the time we leave we will probably wanna leave Stevie and Lindsey behind bc we are sick of listening to them bitch 24/7. Lindesy will still be in his hut working on his next solo album thats never gonna come out anyway. Christine will send Stevie back into the woods to gather so more coconuts as a trick, then we will sail off  .

This is insane!
Mick - The height would come in handy, but his rambling would not come in handy. If we ran into natives, I'm sure they would take him in as a god or some deranged situation like that. The solution to the rambling would be a crafty coconut shell mallet. A simple whack on the head and no more rambling on and on.
John - He can do anything practically! We know he spends 99.9% of his time on the water. I'm sure he would know what would be good to eat and not good to eat. There are all those perks of him woodworking, fishing, conversating, etc. The only downside would be his nicotine habit. Maybe we'd find stores of cigars and rum.
Lindsey - The most eye-candy worthy of the boys. He would not try to help you. A guitar would be made and then forget it. I see Lindsey whining immensely probably more than a girl. I understand about the long, lonely night and cuddling.
Christine - She's resourceful and smart. After all those years, I'm sure she learned something from Johnny. The conversation would be amazing and hysterical. There wouldn't be much help for body warmth on a cold night.
Stevie - Her clothing would come in handy. The platforms would be used for hammering and such. If she had the platform reeboks, who needs firewood? The dire situation would cause the mad poet to come into play. I'm certain she would whine about missing her dogs, comforts of home, etc. On a cold night, there would be plenty of body warmth. Once she got over the initial shock, there would be many clever ideas coming from that mind of hers.

Jesus! Anyone got a bucket of water?
