I don't know if anyone else is that interested in this, but Amber said she found it generally interesting so I'm posting about it. :)
I just made my Mom another Fleetwood Mac/Stevie/Christine/Buckingham Nicks CD. I think this is the fourth one. She already liked some of the songs, so I couldn't go completely wrong. I'm trying to make her into, well, at least half as much of a fan as I am. Here's the tracklisting-
Worth the Ride: A Fleetwood Mac/Stevie/Christine/Buckingham Nicks Collection
1. Christine Perfect- "Crazy 'Bout You/I'm On My Way
2. Christine Perfect- "Wait and See"
3. Christine Perfect- "Close to Me"
4. Christine McVie- "Forgiveness
5. Fleetwood Mac- "Sunny Side of Heaven"
6. Stevie Nicks- "Candlebright"
7. Stevie Nicks- "It's Only Love"
8. Stevie Nicks- "Trouble in Shangri-La"
9. Stevie Nicks- "Planets of the Universe" (extended album version)
10. Stevie Nicks- "If You Ever Did Believe"
11. Fleetwood Mac- "Smile at You"
12. Fleetwood Mac- "Hypnotized"
13. Buckingham Nicks- "Races are Run"
14. Buckingham Nicks- "Without a Leg to Stand On"
15. Buckingham Nicks- "Django"
16. Fleetwood Mac- "Jigsaw Puzzle Blues"
17. Fleetwood Mac- "Albatross"
18. Fleetwood Mac- "Why"
It's called "Worth the Ride" because of the obvious "It's Only Love" reference and because she's going to play it in the car to and from work (a good 35-40 minute drive).
Even though she doesn't care for Lindsey, I'm hoping she'll dig "Without a Leg to Stand On" because I think it's such a great song.
Between this and the other CDs I've made her, I think I've run out of stuff that she'd like, since she only likes select Christine stuff, hardly any Lindsey, and she doesn't like any Stevie songs that are anything like "Talk to Me" or "Sister Honey."
So, what do y'all think about that weird collection, anyway? I think I come up with the most bizarre sequences for the tracks I put on CDs. And lots of songs that have nothing in common, huh?

I think it's a great compilation. :) As far as not liking "Sister Honey" goes, your mom has wonderful taste. ;)
My mom is a Fleetwood Mac fan and the person who is primarily responsible for introducing me to them. I think it's just about the best thing she ever did for me, besides all that giving me life stuff. :woohoo:

Thats quite a varied collection of Mac songs. You know I would put something of Lindsey's on there. I am curious what doesn't she like about Lindsey? He is not so bad. I guess that everyone has their own taste. I am not found of Christine's earlier work but that's just me.

I think it's a strange collection, and a great idea. But you say you've run out of stuff she'd like, so that makes a little more sense. I think it's really nice that you did that.

That's cool that your Mom got you into FM; mine got me into The Beatles, but she hadn't heard much FM until I got a hold of her. :)

I am not found of Christine's earlier work but that's just me.How do I begin with my Mom and Lindsey? The only Lindsey song I've gotten her to genuinely like is "NGBA," and even so, she prefers the instrumental versions from the Rumours re-issue. She doesn't like his voice at all. She thinks it sounds whiny and smarmy. She prefers Bob Welch's voice over Lindsey's anyday. She doesn't have any patience for him when he starts yelling stuff, like in "Not that Funny." In addition to all of that, she doesn't like his lyrics. She much prefers Stevie's. And she has expressed her disdain for the "packin' up, shackin' up" line more times than I can count. I tried to get her into "IKINW" several times because it's one of my favorite Lindsey songs, but she finds it kind of annoying and doesn't like the music. I finally got her to say, "I guess it's a good song; I just don't care for it." It's hopeless. Sorry Lindsey fans.
:sorry:

I think it's really nice that you did that.Yeah, it's a weird collection because it's like, all the leftover Buckingham Nicks songs that she didn't already have on another CD (sans the other ones that are predominantly Lindsey) and all the leftover Stevie songs that I think she would like. She already has every other version of "POTU" in existence. Her fave is the slow one on the Rumours re-issue.

Yeah, I kind of figured that it was his voice. He can be a bit yelpy  at times.
Well, from Out of the Cradle there is "This Nearly Was Mine" which is just an instumental but of course he did not write it.

Good compilation! It's not the most 'obvious', but I bet your mother will like it!

My mother prefers Lindsey's stuff to any other members', she's always complimenting his guitar playing... and I believe I might have a problem getting her to bring my 'Out Of The Cradle' cd out of her car's cd player.

But, yeah, you'd think my Mom would at least like to listen to more of his stuff because of the fantastic guitar-playing, but I'm afraid that's secondary to her.

I'm sorry, which stevie songs does she like again?Does that have something to do with No Doubt?
Solo or with FM? I'll give ya both
"SDMHA"
"POTU"
"Silver Springs"
"Sorcerer"
"Kind of Woman"
"Stand Back" (one of the few distinctively 80s songs she likes)
"Edge of Seventeen"
"Beautiful Child"
"Insider"
"Nightbird"
I'd say those are her faves.

Mine too. I was playing my mom Tusk and she was really liking Lindsey's songs. She liked the beat and the energy of his songs but was kind of bored with Stevie's songs.

Does she like Storms?
As for Lindsey songs, how about "Stephanie"? If she enjoys instrumentals, how you can not like that one? Beautiful. I wonder if there are any songs from Out of the Cradle she might like...that is such a masterpiece.

I wonder if there are any songs from Out of the Cradle she might like...that is such a masterpiece.I downloaded "Stephanie" but when I tried to play it, the file was messed up. I got it from Nancy's site but it was the only one that did that. Did anyone else have that problem? That's the only reason I haven't heard it.
As for "Storms," I was pretty surprised that she didn't think it was all that great. When I first played it for her, I put it on a CD that had "Beautiful Child" as well, and she said "Beautiful Child" was much better and didn't seem all that excited about "Storms." I thought that was odd because it seems that everyone loves "Storms" but her.
I don't have Out of the Cradle, but I'm tellin' ya, you Ledgies are selling me on it. I always hear about how great it is so I know I'm gonna have to get it one of these days.
