So in Patty's thread about her work bonus gift card I was lamenting the fact that my work only has a party - no bonuses....
Well - I was not sure about going to the party as many people I thought would go weren't going - but I decided I should make an atempt to be social - so I went....
Well it turns out they were giving out door prizes...wine, pointsettas etc...the big prize was a Kodak digital camera w/ loading dock...I crossed my fingers and kept saying in my head..."let me win let me win let me win..." then they drew the name..and I WON!!!!! :blob1: :blob2: :blob1: :blob2:
I'm moving into the technological world - I'm SO excited as I wouldn't have been able to actually buy a digital camera for myself....
Anyway - so that is a nice little bonus I did end up getting from work - just thought I'd share :D

Whoa! That is so cool. Congrats Deanna!!
Thanks - I now totally overwhelmed with all the info about this camera though - I've begun reading through the manual - then I need to read the dock manual lol....my crappy 35mm film camera wasn't this difficult....but it also isn't as fun...I just learned that my new camera has a video w/voice feature!! Woo Hoo!!!
I'm SO excited....

I think your best bet other than reading the manual is to just experiment with it. You'll end up teaching yourself and feel more comfortable that way. Of course, if you're not sure how to turn it on/off, then you might want to take a peek at the manual :p

Sometimes the instruction manual means something to me only after I've played with it for awhile, and this is especially true of cameras.
Congratulations! It's one of those things where you're thinking it would be great if you were the one to win, but it never works out that way...but this time it did! Cool!

Congrats on the digital camera you will love it!
Read a bit of the manual and just experiment with it. I got mine last January and I really did not try to use until the end of April right before the Madison show. That was the first time that I really used it. I don't recommend doing that, however.
How many mega-pixels is it and what kind of zoom does it have?
I am curious. I have seen many people get great Mac concert photos with Kodak digitals. ;)

Yay DD, that is soooo awesome. I am green with envy, hehe. What is the model of the camera? I am shopping around as I hope to get one as soon as I can afford it. I'm a photophile or whatever you call us picture peeps. I'm so excited for you that you won this :woohoo:

So, what, you think you're better than me just because you got a camera & I got an ornament from my job? Huh? Is that it?
JK, that's awesome! Congrats! :blob1:

Originally when I saw the title of this thread I thought you were going to write about what you bought yourself for Christmas. This year I was not supposed to buy myself anything but there were a few things I couldn't help myself on. I found a pink sheer poncho on Macys.com yesterday for $5.99 so I had to get it! I also got myself a crescent moon pendant like Stevie's because I was getting one for my friend and I wanted to have the twin. It's part of the gift! ;) What have you guys purchased for yourself?

Well my new camera is a Kodak cx7430 I think - I resisted the temptation to bring it to work with me....I knew if I did I'd get nothing done today...
It's 4 mega pixels with 3x zoom -
Since I'm so dumb about digital cameras I've no idea where this one is onthe spectrum - but it kicks ass thus far  - I'm already having a blast!!

Well, they go all the way up to just over 6 mega pixels with interchangeable lenses so yours seems to be a good, upper-middle level camera. I hope it takes great pics!
