Nevermind...I'm going to have to think this one through on my own...

I know of 2 that worked out and I’m talking happily married. First time lovers from different worlds had little to do with it. They grew and learned from each other over time. I’m in a similar doubt situation with my niece. I look at the jerk she’s with, and ready to marry this spring wondering why. She’s a gorgeous young lady with a great career wanting to marry this slug. I fight hard not to judge him but this blow hard clings to me like flies on sh!t.

I’m the kind of person that’s very protective of my family and friends in a detective sort of way. When I’m introduced to a bad vibe person giving a terrible first impression I want to know everything about them possible. A couple of connections and budda bing budda boom. He has prior records, jail time, and a shady bunch of friends. He gets off of parole in February and word has it he’ll be right back to his usual no good.

Knowing all this there’s nothing I can do to stop her. It’s a fatal attraction with a long story. I have to let go and let live. I know all kinds of sneaky sh!t I could do to have his parole violated sending him back to prison for 10 years minimum but I don’t swing that way. It could ruin something meant to be very beautiful.

WARNING! All I need to hear are two words from my niece’s mouth. “Restraining order.” If he tries to violate that? It will be one of the biggest mistakes he’s ever made in his life. :D All that sucking up he does to me has become his enemy. What an idiot LOL.

Thanks, Insane, it's nice to hear that sometimes it works out, thankfully there arn't any major probs with the guy, it's just I'm not sure she'll be happy after real life sinks in...I hope your neice comes to her senses...Of course from what it sounds like the guy may land himself back in prison before anything actually happens. Oh and if your wondering I just decided to remove the question after all there is not much I can do about it except just be a friend, mostly b/c any advice i give would not be very positive and I'm sure I'd get the respose of "you just don't understand."

Lux, I'm sorry but you must have viewed the thread after I took the origional question down, it originated with me wanting to know of anyone that knew of any couples that had actually worked out, where it was the first serious relationship for one of the people involved. Basically one of my friends is getting married to the first guy she has ever had any type of relationship with and I'm a bit worried for her. So I was looking for a little "faith" b/c I don't know anyone that it has ever worked for...In fact everyone I know that got married to their first "serious" person divorced them.

My Mom never dated anyone seriously before my Dad, and they have been happily married for over thirty years now. :)

Some friends of my sister's were high school sweethearts- but did break up briefly in college - then got back together and are now happily married - they've been together for about ten years now - so they're still a bit young I guess in terms of coupledome - but they seem very happy and they love each other
