At work we all got a $75.00 gift card to Stop & Shop (a supermarket) today for a Christmas bonus. :blob2: We used to get a party at some country club out in the stix that I hated to go to but this year they gave us the cards so everyone would benefit.
I am sure that I can get some blank CDs or DVDs, hair color and of course food! :)

That's awesome! Congratulations! Don't you love free money? For the holidays? that's weird, i need haircolor right now, too :p
Last year my Xmas bonus was $200, but it might not be this year. In any case, i can't wait.
Enjoy!

It's great for the holidays. I would love to get cash, however. Hopefully you will get a great Xmas bonus this year, Amber.

Wow..good going for getting that Xmas bonus, sure does help with those wee extras...Lucky you, unlike us, our £100 bonus was taken away this year!!!  Yes, we got 15% on our storecard instead of 10%, but that finishes in Jan (started in Oct) but it's highly unlikely, I saved £100 on my shopping! Nope, I'd rather have the bonus thankyou....

Yay Pattie! I'm a contractor at my firm and in the past we were uninvited to the holiday party. It used to be a large affair, but last year it was in the company lobby, I skipped it. However this year it was a really nice one at Lucky's. They had appetizers and beer and wine to your heart's content and a great band. It really was great and it lacked the pretensiousness of a black tie affair. I do like to get dressed up and clean up rather well ;) IIDSSM, but this year things are very tight so buying a dress was not in the budget. Anyway, the party was quite nice, even though cash money would have been great.

See, thats why I hate the party. I would have to buy a fancy dress and shoes to match, etc. I kove to get dressed up myself but I have nobody to even bring to the party and I feel so alone. It's too much of a pain plus the drive to N Kingstown. Just to let you know Rhode Islanders do not like to drive very far in this small state.
I am more then happy with the card.
Blank CDs and Entenmann's Devil Food Cake. :blob2:

Yahooo!!! Those cakes are so freaking good. Mmm, chocolate...
I didn't mention that Lucky's is a 2 minute walk from the office too, so it was convenient, and completely free. Plus we got out of work early. Still, I'd rather have the money! Hehe. Enjoy your free spree!!!

I wish we got Christmas bonuses at work - but I"m happy because my car and insurance payment got canceled for December - and my CC bill was SUPER low for December - so I save a lot of money that way...which is what I'll use to Christmas shop...
I am going to my work holiday party - but a TON Of people aren't going - which is, to me, a bad sign - I'm the newbie so I just thought I'd go - but wasn't going to if I couldn't find a date - but I'm just taking a guy friend....oh well...free food isn't so bad - but I"d MUCH rather have cash or a store card somewhere

Congrats on the gift card!! They are the neatest things as you can buy whatever you want and not get something from work that you don't want! Spend it well!!!

We don't get bonuses or parties, but they do give us a week off paid! I'm off from the 23rd to the 3rd! Bring it on!

We don't get a Christmas party this year because of our merger. Normally they're a big to-do. They fly everyone in that's not in Chicago, they put us all up in a hotel, including the people that live here- last year we shared rooms at the W. They took us to this great place in Hyde Park last year, that was totally casual. We all just bowled, played pool, did karaoke (yikes), had palm and tarot readings- it was so funny, and weird. I remember the trolleys kept us there until about 2AM, and then we all headed over to Crobar. HAAA.
Instead of getting one this year, they're just doing a dinner for the Chicago staff at Maggiano's, which should still be nice enough. I love free martinis. We're also getting a winter recess, starting this year, with the new company's vacation policies. We're off the 24th through the 31st!
I hope there's a bonus. I managed to get two last year- one from my senior boss, and then one from the team I work for.
I think I'm just lucky- our Christmas parties are actually FUN.

Well, I went to the Stop & Shop near me and they did not have anything that I was looking for. I was so mad!
I am going to try another store but so far I am not too happy. :distress:
