Done. Though I have not seen The Incredibles nor Eternal Sunshine... both of which I want to see, especially the latter.

I think F 9/11 was The Most Important Film to See in 2004. Unfortunatley for righties, a documentary is not a good format for them because it inherently seeks the truth.

Bless my heart, even I voted for it and I think MM is a hack. But, it is my thuming of my nose to the election results  Plus, despite the shoddy representation of facts, they are still facts and that is important no matter MM's presentation

Hey - I voted for it - give me a break  :p :wavey:

I was shocked to see that it wasn't up against The Passion. I voted for it.

If that drivel The Passion wins anything at the Oscars, I'll stick needles in my knee.

Was The Passion "drivel"? Honestly, being a sensitive soul I had to cover my eyes through a lot of it. However, I felt that it really showed who Jesus was. Mel made this movie to show Jesus' sacrifice as a human being for the sins of all mankind. "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do."

I did not grow up a believer. I'm not a converter. If Jesus died for our sins, this movie helped me understand that sacrifice. It was more brutal than I could take and I had to censor it for myself. If you believe Jesus existed and he was the Son of God then this movie might lead you to a greater understanding of His sacrifice. I found that moving.

I know not all believe that Jesus was the son of god. I want to know though how this movie was "drivel".

The events are accurate, however one chooses to interpret them, am I right? So can we deny that he suffered immensely?

For the record, I didn't see the movie, so I can't say whether it's "drivel" or not. I'm just throwing out stuff here.

what a waste of _______ time...

Once the catergories of Best Smile (Gimme a tire-tool and I will cave their teeth in) & Best Hair (Shave these idiots with a USMC basic training haircut) showed up I bailed out of this "Who's ass can we kiss the best" contest.

Rather watch my cats take a dump than go back to finish voting for those awards...

Btw, Nuthing against F9/11 (bka-"Krispy Kremes Strike Back")

I thought it was drivel, but that's just me. It was a barrage of constant pretentiousness, the music was horrid, Bellucci couldn't act to save her life, and as far as filmmaking goes, I didn't think it was anything special. I don't feel it had any reason for really existing and found Gibson's motives to be disturbing. It was all an obvious ploy to make money and he made it in spades.

And being an atheist, I don't believe a single thing that was in that flick. But even if I was a "believer" and liked the movie, it still would not be Oscar worthy, IMO.

LMAO - I agree - even the lovely and talented Goldie could not really coerce me into anything - except of course if she, as a woman (AND WHAT A WOMAN :xoxo: ) stars with the tears, then all bets are off for any man then

AND - I think I need the spell Lord Child phonetically (sp.?) - LAWWWWWDDDDDD CHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLDDDDDDD

Also - Diss - I think the woman who played Mary (a Jew no less) was terrific in it as was Cazeziel (sp.?) - I thought they were great and showed talent. I make no comment on the content and no comment of Gibson - just the talent of the acting - at least to me

The Jewish woman was fantastic, really great, but Caviezel was not very believable at all, IMO, and I thought he was really stretching his acting muscles to the point where the viewer could see the strain. The make-up and effects did better acting than he did.

I haven't seen any of those films except Spiderman 2, which I didn't care for. One of my friends recommended Eternal Sunshine to me and said I'd like it. I'll have to check it out. I haven't seen the Passion, either.

I haven't seen it. From what I heard/read, it was too violent for what I watch. But most people I talked to liked it, even non believers. I heard a lot of praise for the cinematography and some of Gibson's artistic choices.

At another board where I post, I remember reading a review of the movie from an atheist poster in Australia. (You'd love her...she's a strong critic of American foreign policy. ;) ) Anyway, I loved reading her insight. She said it didn't change her beliefs at all, but she didn't find it offensive. She talked about "universal truths" being found in the film, such as those who do nothing about corruption are as guilty as those who are corrupt. Anyway, I'm rambling.......

Hey!!! that's my girl! Oh, wait, i've never seen her act except for a few minutes of the matrix...okay, carry on... She's still gorgeous... :p
