I think this thread gets started every year but here goes:
What Christmas movies, if any, do you just HAVE to watch at least once every year?
My list:
-Smoky Mountain Christmas - Dolly Parton - I LOVE this movie
-Mixed Nuts - hilarious!!
-While you were Sleeping - not sure if that's considered a Christmas movie - but that's when I watch it :)
-A Muppet Christmas Carol - it's the only version I can sit through - otherwise I'm SO sick of this story...
and finally...
-It's a Wonderful Life... Probably my all-time favorite movie - it makes me cry EVERY year - when Harry Bailey says "To my big brother George, the richest man in town...." LOVe it....
So what are your must see holiday flicks??

A Christmas Story (usually bits & pieces during the 24 hour marathon on TNT)
Charlie Brown Christmas (when they're humming "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" around the tree & their mouhts turn completely round, lol!)
Scrooged (Bill Murray & Carol Kane are hilarious)
It's a Wonderful Life

Curtis, this is why I love you! :xoxo:
How 'bout when he yelling outside her window and then Nussen Dorma starts playing...awwww :(
Some of my other faves are naturally Christmas Vacation:
Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny ****ing Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse.
Hey. If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is. Hallelujah. Holy ****. Where's the Tylenol? :D
The others are A Christmas Story and the first Home Alone.

Only two "must sees" for me:
1. A Christmas Story
2. White Christmas--my favorite *ever*, Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen. It just doesn't get any better than that, people. "Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters."

For the love of God Dissention, please don't insult everything that I hold dear in my life. Especially not The Prince of Tides. Just this one time please
And the reason why for it being considered a Christmas movie, cause it takes place during Christmas, and dammit it makes you feel good. Also Jeff Bridges is so yummy in that!

The only Christmas movie that matters is Christmas Vacation. We watch every year and laugh just as hard every freaking time.

Omigod with the Christmas lights I love this movie! And Julia Louis Dreyfus playing the snooty neighbor is too much!

Well, It's A Wonderful Life obviously. It's one of my absolute faves.
And yep, I always cry. "Bert, doncha know me?" aww...
But I alway watched Scrooged too. I worship Bill Murray and he's fantastic in it. Carol Kane comes a close second in the movie though "Frank, what's this? It's a TOASTER!!!"
And I'll say it loud and proud, The Muppet Christmas Carol. Those singing vegetables get me every time.
A new one, that I'm sure will be become a Christmas fave too, is Elf. I just think Will Ferrell is a comic genius. I just love when he gets excited over the announcement that Santa will be in the store next day, jumping up and down shouting "Santa is coming" Santa is coming!" And then the next day realising it's just a man in a fake beard, telling him "You sit on a throne of lies!"
So funny.
I love it when his dad James Caan reluctantly tucks him into bed too... hehe
Elf is so funny! "Santa's coming? I know him!" I saw this at the theater last year and almost peed it was such a riot. Then, I watched it again the other night because my roommate bought it :D

OK, all this talk about Christmas Vacation makes me want to post some more quotes:
Bethany: Is your house on fire, Clark?
Clark: No, Aunt Bethany, those are the Christmas lights.
[Todd and Margo Chester, the Griswold's yuppie neighbors, appear.]
Todd: Hey Griswold. Where do you think you're gonna put a tree that big?
Clark: Bend over and I'll show you.
Todd: You've got a lot of nerve talking to me like that Griswold.
Clark: I wasn't talking to you.
Clark: Well I'm gonna park the cars and get the suit cases, and well, I'll be outside for the season.
Clark: Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?
Eddie: Naw, I'm doing just fine, Clark.
Clark: 'Tis the season to be merry.
Mary: That's my name.
Clark: No ****.
As an entourage of suits - lead by Clark's boss - passes by single file]
Clark: Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, kiss my ass. Kiss his ass. Kiss your ass. Happy Hanukkah
Ellen: What are you looking at?
Clark: Oh, the silent majesty of a winter's morn... the clean, cool chill of the holiday air... an asshole in his bathrobe, emptying a chemical toilet into my sewer...
[Eddie, in the driveway, is draining the RV's toilet.]
Eddie: ****ter was full.
Clark: Ah, yeah. You checked our ****ters, honey?
Ellen: Clark, please. He doesn't know any better.
Clark: He oughta know it's illegal. That's a storm sewer. If it fills with gas, I pity the person who lights a match within ten yards of it.
Eddie: I don't know if I oughta go sailin' down no hill with nothin' between the ground and my brains but a piece of government plastic.
Clark: Do you really think it matters, Eddie?
Eddie: You surprised to see us, Clark?
Clark: Oh, Eddie... If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am now.
Margo: And why is the carpet wet, Todd?
Todd: I don't Know Margo. ( I can just hear him say that and it cracks me up)
Eddie: Every time Catherine would turn on the microwave, I'd piss my pants and forget who I was for about half an hour. ROTFLMAO!!
Ellen: Clark, I think it'd be best if everyone went home... before things get worse.
Clark: WORSE? How could things get any worse? Take a look around here, Ellen. We're at the threshold of hell.
Damn, that was a good laugh! I would have Chevy Chase's babies if I could. :p Sorry I got out of hand.

Even though I'm a Jew, a lonely Jew, on Chriiiiisstmas (from South Park, thanks, Kyle), I do still enjoy my holiday sappiness and hilarity (Mr. Hankee)! And my all-time holiday favorite film is A Christmas Carol. I like the George C. Scott one the best, and the diva ones with Susan Lucci and Vanessa Williams are great. I also love the b/w original, with Alistair Cooke (?). I love A Christmas Story too, and growing up, I had to see Rudolph and Frosty every year.
I need to rent Elf - I adore Will Farrell!

Like Brit said, it takes place during the season. It's hard to watch a Christmas-like movie around Easter. You just relate movies to the season. I also only watch Stepmom in the winter, because of the time the movie takes place. And for some reason, I relate Wizard of Oz to March. Maybe that's due to the fact it's played on the TV every year at that time.
