I know, I get to see him every week now!!!

I was watching The Biggest Loser (and feeling like such an asshole while doing so because I feel so bad for those people) last Tuesday and all of sudden, the commercial came on. The first thing I noticed was that he was practically bare assed and lying in bed (*swoon*). It does look fantastic, though, especially since it's from the guy that did Moonlighting (one of my faves) and Now and Again. Plus, I love Arquette and think she is beautiful. It should be very interesting. Thanks for thinking of me, though. :woohoo:

I read that it's actually based on a woman in Arizona, too.

Now and Again

I LOVED that show! Eric Close is such a cutie! I have watched Without a Trace a few times, and even though it's a great show, and Eric's in it, I just don't watch it that often. LOL

I loved Now and Again. Is it out on DVD? If not, it needs to be released ASAP (same as American Gothic, dammit). The whole cast was just magical on that show and I'm glad they didn't cancel after a few eps, we got a whole season out of it.

I saw a few eps of Without A Trace and liked it, but I just never stuck with it for some reason. I saw the one with Kirstie Alley and thought it was great.

So, now that that Jake Weber/Patricia Arquette show is coming on, I'll have to chalk up another TV show to watch now.

Who in their right mind would want episodes released individually or in best-of sets?! I want the full season!!!!!!

I bought American Gothic off of eBay and have been watching it the past couple of weeks. It is such a trip to watch the episodes in order, too. Paige Turco's hair goes from being brown and straight to red and curly from one episode to the next. Jake Weber's hair goes from brown to blonde and he looks thinner or bulkier depending on the episode. Sarah Paulson is a different age with each progressing ep. Gary Cole always looks the same, though. AND- best of all, the DVDs have four episodes that never aired. I didn't like it as much after Dr. Matt got locked up in Juniper House (because my favorite part of the show was the relationship between him and Caleb, and because the eye candy was gone), but it still is one of the best shows ever made.

Supposedly, they're making a movie with Lucas, Dr. Matt, Selena, and a few others coming back and then starting it up again on the SciFi channel. If that ever happens, I. Will. Die.

Oh crap, I missed it too and was looking forward to it. I love psychic stuff and Patricia Arquette. I think she looks so cool in the ads for the show.

However, instead my roommate and I watched the Best of Will Farrel and it is freaking hysterical. If you get it, make sure to watch the Conan appearance on volume 2 where you can see he is dressed as a leprechaun, holy crap I have never seen a late nite show so hijacked and so hysterical!

I asssume you're talking about the new show "Medium." *wonders who will say "what other TV show starring Patricia Arquette was on last night, stupid?"

OK, I am in LOVE with this show, I thought it was really well written, the acting is superb & they should have plenty of story lines to keep it going. It's on again (a different episode) this Thursday at 10pm on NBC. After that, I think it will be on Monday nights @10 every week. This is not really in order, hope it makes some sense.

Basically, Allison (patricia) is psychic, she's had visions for years, but basically ignored them. She wants to be a lawyer, but has second thoughts when she realizes that she can talk to the dead & "see" the crimes, helping to solve them. So hubby (is this Jake Weber? HOT!) has been writing down her dreams & crystal visions :sorry: & they decide to fax them to some cops & see if anything comes of it. Of course, one of her dreams matched an unsolved case perfectly & she helps solve the crime & save the day.

The show started with her dreaming about interogating a guy about his wife's death & he says "your skin is so white, the blood would look beautiful dripping down it after I sliced you open from your chin to your crotch" and she wakes up. So the guy at the end of the show (for real, not a dream) is that same guy from her dream.

She decides not to go to law school, and the law firm hires her (on the down low, heehee) to help out with cases for her psychic abilities. BTW, this is based on a real woman who lives in AZ (or is it CA?)

Yes, it DID seem like a movie, now that you mention it.

I really liked the part where she's talking to the 17 year old pedophile murderer (that's the case she helped solve, for those of you who didn't see it) & tells him "I talked to your sister." Who is dead, of course. So he thinks she's bull****ting, and she says "well, I'm trying to read you, but I get nothing. You're so pretty, you could be in a milk commercial. But all I hear from your soul is the screams of tortured animals and suffering children" WOW. EVIL!

Then she tells him that there are ghosts with him in the room - the ghost of the man who molested him when he was 8; and the ghost of the man who molested that guy in 1967, and the ghost of the man who molested that guy in 1955, etc. Very creepy, the kid was freaked. But so true about the cycle of abuse. :distress:

Anyway, as you can tell, I really like the show. Might rival my fondness for Desparate Housewives. Well, maybe they can coexist together. I CAN have 2 favorite shows, right? Until now, nothing's ever really replaced my love for China Beach, Thirtysomething & early ER.

Of the shows that are on right now, there are really only a few that I watch, yet it's the most shows I've ever watched. Alias (my favorite), Law and Order: SVU (the only good L&A show), Desperate Housewives (hysterical), and now Medium (Patricia Arquette AND Jake Weber? Be still my heart). Everything else sucks.

It's a very disturbing show, I didn't imagine it would be as disturbing as it was. And I'm glad that it isn't just about her and her visions, it's about her home life, too. That's a nice touch.

BTW, I forgot to concur that Scrubs is a great show. A few years ago, I used to watch something on network TV every night, Sunday-Thursday. Now, I really don't bother as much.

I currently watch Everybody Loves Raymond, 2&1/2 Men, Gilmore Girls, Scrubs, W&G, and ER.

Oooh, I love Scrubs and Arrested Development, too.

I watch Boston Legal every once in awhile, but since I was a big fan of The Practice, I find it a bit too cartoonish and over-the-top more often than not. Still love Spader, though, and Rhona Mitra is sexy as all hell.

I looooove Scrubs and Arrested Development. Hell, my new icon is Buster at the crane. HERO SQUAD!

Boston Legal is WAY too cartoonish, but I love me some Spader. There was an episode a couple of weeks ago that had Shatner shooting a guy that was holding James Spader hostage that was hilarious. I never liked the Practice until Spader came on. Although I did see that episode where DeMornay got her ass kicked by Camryn Manheim, and that WAS hilarious.

Oh, I think Jake Weber is hot too. It's this intelligent, smarmy, lizardy type hot.

I have the worst eyesight, so I couldn't figure out what it was. I can barely see anyone's avatar half the time.

The two episodes of Scrubs with Julianna Marguiles were two of the best, it just gets better and better. Everything about Arrested Development is hysterical. It will go down in history as being one of the most brilliant television comedies.

I was a big Practice fan for the first four or five years, then it sucked ass for a couple seasons, then it was great again for the last season. The last season was one of the best, actually. I'd for it to come out on DVD...alongside Picket Fences. :D

Oh, I think Jake Weber is hot too. It's this intelligent, smarmy, lizardy type hot.

That describes Spader to a T, too.

Amber (and anyone else who missed the pilot, like me!), it looks like the pilot for Medium will be airing on Saturday the 15th at 8PM (central), although there are two new episodes on between now and then.

How many times a day do I say "Thanks, Tivo!"? I think it's at least four.

Just read today that Medium got around 20 million viewers on Monday night, hopefully a good portion of the audience sticks with it. The real-life Allison said that it is going to be a hit, so we'll see. If it goes the way of American Gothic, though, I will be one angry camper.

They take twelve wann-be fashion designers from across the country and give them the chance to win everything they need to start their own fashion label. Each round lasts two days and they each have to come up with an original piece under strict guidelines. Like for example, in the first episode, they were given $50 to get all their materials...and they had to spend it in a grocery store. One chick made a butt-ugly monstrosity made of Life Savers and licorice, another made a dress of corn husks. At the end of the two days, they have a runway show where three judges judge the garments and send one person home. It's a great show.

So it debuts on a Tuesday, they rerun it that Thursday, & now a new episode is going to be on this Monday? Do I have it right?

I'll be so pissed if the network keeps moving this one around so nobody can find it & the ratings go down!

Allison Dubois, the woman who's life inspired the show Medium, was on The Today Show this morning and she is really interesting! She is beautiful and bright and she is very strong. She said that the stuff in the first episode that you wouldn't think was really true was actually the true stuff. I will definitely be finding more out about this fascinating woman.

You're welcome. The interview did not give much information, it was short. She did mention that she has worked with a university in AZ who has studied her process scientifically and were impressed by her. Ironically enough, it turns out she has a website! http://www.allisondubois.com/ The show, Medium, is based on her first book about her life. She has a new, second book out now. I don't know why she didn't mention it this morning!

Eh, 90% of the reviews disagree with CNN.com and I, as a viewer, disagree. So they can put that in their pipe and smoke it. ;)

Though, I must say, a nice sex scene between the two stars would make it even better.

Tonight's ep was fab, you should love it. :woohoo: I was happy, there's lots of Jake and the scenes between him and Arquette are hilarious, they've got great chemistry.

And it was SO weird seeing the guy who replaced Jake on American Gothic as the guy in her dreams.

Anyone else notice Gareth in Finding Neverland looking normal?

I liked tonight's episode, but I still can't totally get into this show. I called that he was doing a dead chick immediately, at the beginning.

I think the pacing is phenomenal. Most shows have to find the right balance within a few epeisodes, but they did it perfectly right away. It's not too slow, it's not too fast, and I love the fact that it deals with her at home with her husband and kids. And the Joe character cracks me up, he's got a real deadpan sense of humor like Maude.

HEY! This thread is about Medium, not your silly little Bachelorette! Let's try to stay on topic, shall we?

That being said, last night's ep was not as good as the pilot, but I liked it. Allison is just starting to figure out just how to use her gift. The ending was a bit predictable (I thought 'what if it's the wrong guy' the whole time), but then of course it wasn't the wrong guy ultimately. I think...

The guy murdering women to have sex with their corpses repeatedly - ick. Might have been too much - like the writers were trying too hard (although parts of the show are true, so maybe it was based on fact?)

i thought this ep was good. But, like you, I was like "ick. could they have picked anything grosser?"
Also, I thought that Patricia was too whiney, and Jake to boringly supportive in this ep.

Ooh, it's doing fabulous in the ratings...

http://imdb.com/news/sb/#1
'24' Sends Fox's Ratings Soaring
Fox, which has continued to languish in the ratings this season, got a big boost on Sunday when back-to-back season-opening episodes of its drama 24 averaged a 10.5 rating and a 15 share between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Earlier, the network scored a 24.1/36 for its coverage of the Minnesota-Green Bay NFL game. Although the numbers represented a tremendous improvement over any other ratings Fox had been able to attract with regular programming this season, they were not enough to beat ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (11.5/16) and CBS's Cold Case (11.2/16) at 8:00 p.m. or ABC's Desperate Housewives (17.8/24) at 9:00 p.m. Another two-hour helping of 24 on Monday averaged a 9.3/13, easily beating the competition. However, NBC's hit new drama Medium, by scoring a 12.2/19 in the 10:00 p.m. hour, produced the highest ratings of the night and put the peacock network ahead overall.

 A good show that might not be cancelled right away! Who'da thunk it?
