I have a DVD burner in my PC. My question is this. If I am copying a DVD that is 120 minutes long how come it shows as a few minutes over 2 hours?
I have a blank 120 minute DVD and I kept getting an error message when I put it in to record. I finally figured it out that the DVD I was copying was over 2 hrs long but I still can't figure it out if it says 120 minutes on the front.

The DVD that I was copying was a DVD-R and the blank that I had was a DVD+R. I don't know if that makes a difference.

OK I have had it. I am going to either smash my computer or throw it out of the window. I am SO pissed!!

NOW, I can't get the DVD to copy at ALL! I have tried a few different DVD-Rs to copy to DVD+Rs and I know that I can do it because I have in the past and the show is only an hour and a half.

I don't know why it is not working but I am ready to scream. I have a trade that I am doing and I had some other plans for the DVDs too. This is ruining my holiday right now.

If I knew a little about your OS I might be able to help you. You could download Belarc Advisor at http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html Let it take a snap shot of your PC and paste it with your problem here for an answer. http://www.computing.net/ Great help on that site!

I do have a question for you though. I told a friend about your trade site. He visited the site and contacted you. You replied that yes you trade 2 for 1. He got very excited and bought the CD-R Pro’s you requested. He sent a list of his wants as you requested on 11/13. He’s yet to get a response back from you after 3 more e-mail’s. I told him about you because you’ve been trading a long time.

He wanted them to be Christmas gifts and was hoping the trade would go fast. I told him your probably very busy even though I see you logged in to this board and others frequently. I know he is dying for a response from you but has had nothing in almost a month. Are you still trading? You could at least answer e-mails from people if your advertising you trade and have them go as far as making a request list and buying the blank CD’s. JMO

Good luck with the DVD problem.

If your friend is from Maryland then I know the one. I have tried to contact him but my emails keep being returned to me. I even put a message on my webpage for him to contact me. I am very sorry.

I really don't even know what is going on right now. I just got another error message with another DVD. I don't even know if I am going to be trading for a while right now.

I can give you the name of a few other traders who have a lot of stuff, however.

Have you any anti-virus software running? Sometimes it stops burning programs working properly.

Hmm, yeah I do but would that tell me that my DVD is incompatible when I know that it's not?

Hmm, yeah I do but would that tell me that my DVD is incompatible when I know that it's not?

something, a program possibly, could then, if your PC has previously burned from this DVD disc before, have changed and now it's not recognising the disc... The only thing I can guess at to reslove it is, if you are running Windows XP, click on your "start" menu in the bottom left corner of the screen, select "All Programs", then select "Accessories" then "System Tools" then "System Restore"

Select this and click on "restore my computer to an earlier time" Choose a restoration point before your problems started. What it will do is undo any changes made or porgrams installed since the time point you choose to go back to. What it won't do is delete any files from your PC.

Hope the advice helps..

Hmm, yeah I do but would that tell me that my DVD is incompatible when I know that it's not?Yes it could if your running Symadtec, or Snoton. Try running msconfig and turn off the anti-virus in the start tab. Get rid of that AOLhell 8.0 too. LOL. Yes my buddy is in Maryland. I called him and he checked his mail server from a different PC. He found nothing that was blocked or sent back from your e-address. The e-mail problem has to be on your end. He said he would try another trader.

Ok I am going to shut down the PC and try it again without the virus software.

Thanks for the help!

No it's not but I use to have one. Why is that bad?

Anyway it seems that my DVD burner will not burn certain types of DVD-Rs and that consists of most of my collection.

Now I am going to have to see if there is someone who burns DVD+Rs that can do them for me.

Compaq's products since about 1998 have become nothing more than cheap, very low grade Chinese components that are assembled by 15-20 cents an hour slave labor, which in most cases are children? I’m sure the kids need the money but….

Most have integrated video and sound on the motherboard and a host of junk on them that no one needs. They are also highly proprietary. This means that you can only get parts that are made by Compaq. Compaq's Are generally what you get is all you get. Upgrades are hard and VERY expensive. When the system crashes it's gone. Sure they have a quick restore CD, but I have seen sh*tloads of trouble with those.

Every one I’ve worked on I hoped it was nothing in the BIOS because working around in that mess will give you diarrhea. If you still own that old Compaq and it crashed? Remove the tower cover and you can use the soldering for Silly Putty. Everything else can be put in the garbage.

I don’t mean to talk down on those owning a Compaq I just see a lot of troubles with them. The owner causes most troubles, but the same owner troubles are fewer in computers with better hardware and operating systems.

Patti, check out this site before you give up on the DVD problem.

PM me if you can refer an active trader with a wide selection of Stevie material. I haven’t been active in trading for years so I’m at a loss on who to refer him to. Dave in Florida? LOL He’s a very professional person to deal with and my collection is very limited. I’ll send you a PM later explaining the urgency for a trader. It’s appreciated.
