Mom, Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter reportedly doing well
Sunday, November 28, 2004 Posted: 6:55 PM EST (2355 GMT)
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Actress Julia Roberts gave birth to twins Sunday morning, her publicist told CNN.
Roberts, who is married to cinematographer Daniel Moder, delivered Hazel Patricia Moder and Phinnaeus Walter Moder at a hospital in Southern California, said Marcy Engleman.
"Mother and babies are doing great," she said.
Roberts, 37, married Moder two years ago.
Roberts was born in Smyrna, Georgia, and attained fame in 1990 for her portrayal of a prostitute in the sentimental romantic comedy "Pretty Woman."
Ten years later, she won the Academy Award for best actress and a Golden Globe for best actress in a drama for her work in "Erin Brockovich."

I'm glad they're ok. I'm glad she'll be making less movies, now.

Seriously. They'd be better off with dumping Scrabble letters into a bag and picking at random. There's been some horrendous Hollywood baby names in the past year. You're not being original, you're setting your kid up to be made fun off not just for the fact that his/her parent is famous but because you've given them some genius name that would be better suited for a dog trying to get into the kennel club. Sheebus...celebrities...

What drug was Julia and hubby on when they decided the names for these children? Hope mama and papa are there on the playground when the name calling begins because it will happen. Glad they are all doing well but geez, what is wrong with some of these people who name their kids horrible names!!!! Hopefully, they will go by their middle names or change their names when they are older. I raised three kids with nice, normal names. Kids just are not nice when they are in grade school or middle school and Julia better be prepared to explain to her two children why she named them horrible names. Hope these kids are tutored at home for their sakes.

When I named Sara, I took into careful consideration her first and middle names (Sara Nicole) so that no one could possibly make fun of her. Even made sure her initials didn't spell out something. On a side note, if she would have taken my maiden name, her initials would have been S N M.... think about it..... ;)

The name "Phinneas" reminds me of Phineas Gage. It makes me think the kid got his head impaled.

And I thought Apple was bad. I'm only hoping that each one of those names is a family name and that Julia and her husband decided it was more important to honor those people than give their children decent names. Maybe they have already thought of reasonable nicknames?
I just can't imagine cradling my beautiful newborn babies in my arms and seeing a Phinneus or a Hazel.

Personally, I love weird names. It spices everything up. When I have kids (or adopt) they are going to be named weird, too. Sebastian Fritz is on the top of my list!

If these little tykes keep her from making movies, I'm happy for her. :D It's bad enough that I see a commercial for "Closer" every time I flip on the boob tube. She couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. I suspect she hit it big because of the casting couch.

I saw a little snippet of the Today Show this morning and they were talking about the names. Patricia (great name, btw) was Danny's mother's name and Walter was Julia's father's name. The guy Katie Couric was interviewing didn't know where the first names came from.
I've heard of the name Phinneaus before. I read a book where the lead character was named that. They will probably call him Phinn (Fin) or Phinny, (Finny) or Phinley (Finley)
I actually kind of like it. I want to name my kid (if I have a boy) Finley (somewhat similar)
Here is what it means:
Phineas (different spelling)
Hebrew: Meaning uncertain; suggested definitions include oracle, dark-skinned, mouth of brass, and a serpent's mouth
Kind of strange. I found another meaning where it said it meant 'loudmouth.' I guess that fits b/c I think Julia has one of the largest mouths I have ever seen on a woman. How many teeth does she have in that huge mouth of hers anyway..120?

This chick came in to my clinic the other day. She's Asian, can't remember her name (it was very Asian though - Lee Wang or something...) Anyway, apparently she tossed in a new middle name when she came to the U.S., so now it's Lee Electra Wang. No joke!
Also, I used to work at a home for teen moms. There were 2 instances where the mom wanted to name their baby & we had to stop them: Placenta and Chlamydia (again, no joke!)
Friend worked as a nurse at Children's Hospital in Buffalo for a few years. Met a baby named ****head (pronounced Shi-Theed) and twins named Lamongello and Orangello (accent on the "ong") The G sounds like a J, so it's like Lemon Jello and Orange Jello.
You just can't make this sh*t up, folks! :D

Are those names a joke from somewhere?? My brother used to tell my mother, 100% serious, that he was naming his kids Orangejello and Lemonjello and would pronounce it phonetically as Orangello and Lamongello, with a soft G. It must be from somewhere! It used to crack us up.
I actually really like the names Hazel and Phinnaeus. Phinnaeus is a traditional Southern name, and it can be shortened to Finn. My pants would probably come right off for someone halfway attractive named Finn. Swoon. I love Walter, too, I think it's a wonderful name for a kid- little Walt.
If I ever have a baby girl, her name is Flynn. Maybe Flynn Elisabeth. That's if I'm ever allowed to actually procreate.
