Thanks Tiff! :xoxo:
And Pip, right before I saw this thread, I was thinking about resurrecting the "My Heart" thread from a few months ago to let everyone know Tiff had posted it along with that awesome soundboard show. So, I guess I'm a big mouth at heart! :D

Beautiful! (Although I can sort of see why it was left off TISL, but nevertheless, beautiful!).

Windows like the eyes to the soul
From across the room
And the crowd fades away
You stand alone
Like nothing’s changed
Your face, your name
After all these years
It’s still the same
And you’re not to blame
Our love affair onstage - sighs!!!!

Not a fan of My Heart at all, but I LOVE the alt. version of Bombay Sapphires. That song has grown on me like a fungus in recent weeks and has become a big favorite.

Thanks a million, Tiff! :wavey:
I've been anxiously waiting to hear the full length song ever since that minute-long snippet circulated a while back, and it more than lived up to my expectations. :D
I'm not sure if any of the Stevie sites have full lyrics posted yet, but I've been listening to it for the last 20 minutes and decided to type them out.
So here they are if anyone wants them....
My Heart
Shadows, and the first sign of light,
Lifted my heart
As if some kind of wings lifted me up
And so became... your face, your name
After all these years, it's still the same
And you're not to blame
Well, my heart still stops
When I stand before you
And my heart still breaks
When you take my hand
And my eyes still close
When someone speaks your name
You understand it's all the same
Windows, like the eyes to the soul
From across the room
And the crowd fades away
You stand alone
Like nothing's changed
Your face, your name
After all these years... it's still the same
You're not to blame
Well, my heart still stops
When I stand before you
And my heart still breaks
When you take my hand
And my eyes still close
When someone speaks your name
And you understand it's all the same
Ooh, my heart still stops
When I stand before you
And my heart still breaks
When you take my hand
And my eyes still close
When someone speaks your name
And you understand
Well, my heart still stops
When I stand before you
Ooh, and my heart still breaks
When you take my hand
My heart still cries
When someone speaks your name
And you understand it's all the same
It's all the same

I'd be willing to bet that, as she did with "Thrown Down," Stevie decided to leave it off 'Trouble In Shangri-La,' feeling it would be a more effective Mac track.
Too bad it didn't make the cut for either album though, it's a really strong track and worthy of a prime spot on an album, IMO. :)

I agree with Dissention on My Heart being over produced. I think the song's ok but could be better if it were just simpler. I do like Bombay Sapphires and I don't miss Macy Gray's vocals.

After listening to this over and over, I think this would be an excellent song to open concerts with. It just has that right tempo....not too fast, not too slow.
BTW...this Bombay Sapphires is freakin' awesome. :D

Thanks so much for sharing these songs with us!
My Heart is ok I guess. I think the melody in the chorus sucks - blech. However there a some parts I really love. It's kind of up in the air for me.. It's nice to hear though.
The alt version of Bombay Sapphires is so unbelievably better than the album version! I can't understand why they didn't use this one...

Besides for the terrible music, the lack of melody drives me bonkers (just like with Say You Will). It sounds like she tried hard to find one, but failed miserably. Maybe that's why it wasn't on TISL, she wasn't happy with it. I know I wouldn't be.
I LOVE Bombay Sapphires, but I kinda miss Macy Gray. It still kills the album version, though.

I like My Heart quite a bit, except for the very beginning "shaaadows...and the fiiiiiiiirst sign of life" I think the chorus has a nice melody and is very, very pretty. :) I don't like how stevie sounds on those stretchy notes during the non chorus. Sounds a bit of a struggle... :o
Bombay Saphires does sound better, that's for sure. It's not my fave, though. but i like it better *now*.
Oh, and my heart reminds me of a song that woulda been on OSOTM. that pretty, jangly guitar...

funny , those lines were my favorite part of the song "fiiiiiirst signs of light." Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess..lol.. Someone would say she never tries, and is lazy and doesn't even want to attempt any note that's relatively stretched if she had not done that..
Although I think most of the song is kinda boring, hence the reason it likely never made the album.

I just downloaded this (Thanks, Tiff!) and I have to say that I feel the same way I did upon hearing the initial clip . . . The lyrics are beautiful, but the music and Stevie's vocals could use some work, IMO.

I kind of like this song. It seems that they are really trying real hard to keep a riff going with that little bomabstic progression - definitely agree with the comment about it sounding a little like LAHGTP. Very much a hair metal binga-bam-boom-boom riff. I do like parts of the melody quite a bit, but it seems kind of 3/4 finished to me. Thrilled to hear it though.
I don't think that Sheryl wrote this music or produced it. Could be Mike Campbell, but not sure about that either.

Ahhhhh!!! I love this song. Finally something to listen to- this dry spell has gotten me down in the dumps.
I just love Stevie's voice. It is so unique, raspy, whisky, nasally and husky. I love Stevie's voice post-Enchanted the best. Anyways, this song is very catchy and would make a great single and opener for an album. In fact, wouldn't it rock if she made this her title track for her next album and "My Heart" came out this Valentines Day? :xoxo:
I know I'm a silly dreamer- more likely February 14, 2009!
