One thing I've noticed about random hook-ups is that the people involved are usually more concerned with safe sex than regular daters. So, using that logic, it's not me who's skanky, it's the ones who don't randomly shack up because they could be catching a beach full of crabs or HIV without knowing it, or even caring.

This type of diversion has been occurring lately in several threads in several forums. Offhand I can think of at least five threads that I've looked at in the last week who've gone the way of the dating service. Methinks some folks are lookin' for love on all the wrong Ledges. Lookin' for love in too many threads. Posting around, hoping for PMs of what they're dreaming of... OK, I'm getting loopy. Well, Tui, I am moritifed if I have offended your sensibilities. Your use of the word "preferences" unfortunately implies you have issues with sexual orientation rather than sexuality itself. I certainly hope I have misinterpreted that.
There is a group of us who have our own little banter going on about a number of different subjects - politics, sex, music other than FM, work, etc. - and the conversations have a habit of spilling into other threads in which we participate. I daresay some of our friendships have become bigger than the topics. As long as I have been around The Ledge, this has been true. I think it is a natural thing that happens when people get to know each other on the net. It is a community and coffee klatches happen. Sometimes they happen at the lemonade stand, the barber shop, the church, and the market all at once.
And sometimes they are all about each other's business. For months it was all politics, lately it has been sex. I guess it's on everyone's mind.
As for the Muppets, I am full on Kermit, and believe me, it has never been easy being green
tuigirl
11-25-2004, 01:55 PM
Oh no, you haven't offended me Sparky, "preferences" was perhaps the wrong term to use, but like Nancy, I have seen a few threads lately that have gone into sexual accounts ie a wee bit too much info sometimes absolutely and I was merely suggesting that it would be better to either start your own sexual thread or PM each other rather than let a thread end up, talking about each others encounters/ sexual desire or whathaveyou.

sorry folks, but I'm thinking a whole NEW thread about your sex lives might be a better bet, then we can be forewarned about the content and then decide for ourselves whether we want to read it or not. At the end of a Muppet thread is a bit offputting at this time of the morning....
I think when we are talking about a site that involves a romantic soap opera such as Buckingham Nicks it's going to stir the passions a little bit. But I have noticed most threads end up turning sexual at some point ( a lot of rather frustrated ledgies I suspect  ) Not that I'm complaining but maybe we should open a sex chat forum or something!!
I never thought of it like that. i mean, i hate when people talk in the morning, but... Also, I like to hear about *** in the morning, or anytime. But i guess it makes sense that not everyone does. Thanks, Tui :wavey:
Yes Amber, you are right, anytime of the day or night I too can usually participate in a *** chat but I agree with tuigirl, it can sometimes be rather hard in the mornings............ :]

I seem to have the same problem every morning too...That's if yer talking about what yer talking about with "it can sometimes be rather hard in the mornings"

I don't see a major problem with it. Sex is sex. It's a part of life. I don't see why it's such a taboo. I'm comfortable in my skin and talking/reading about it doesn't make me uncomfortable. Sex happens (Thank Goodness).

Not in my neck of the woods... :(
damn. And I'd successfully stayed out of the sex talks up until now...

Exactly. If it wasn't a part of life, none of us would be here discussing it. Sex is sex, you have it or you don't. It's a beautiful thing. And fun.

Methinks some folks are lookin' for love on all the wrong Ledges. Lookin' for love in too many threads. Posting around, hoping for PMs of what they're dreaming of...
Yes, I'm just itching to get propositioned for an orgasm by some anonymous schlub on a message board. ;) I may be a sexual person, but I'm certainly not trash.
I don't know what you mean by "dating service," because I haven't seen anyone proposition another. Obviously, sex is a touchy subject with some people when it shouldn't be. Personally, though, I think this has become a hub-bub because the sex talk includes open conversations by gay men such as Sparky and Tower. Pretty sad.

sex was just that annoying box on an application that said "Male" or "Female", Though "Not having any currently" or "Looking to get some" should be the other options

Guys, guys, guys (and gals)..I'm not saying please don't talk about sex and contrary to what you may think Dissention, no, I don't have a problem with the gay guys on this board at all..what I'm saying is...MAYBE there's a better place to put these subjects like on a thread (specially designed for sexual chit chat) or to PM each other. This is I suppose, seen as thoughtfullness on your part, for those other Ledgies (and I'm guessing there may be others) who, early in the morning over a cuppa, don't fancy knowing what you got up to the night before, thats all.

I thought you had a sense of humor, dissention! Well, let me spell it out for you. I WAS JOKING. So no, I do not believe you or anyone else is seeking sex through the Ledge. Please. Give me a break. Save all that righteous indignation for when you take issue with something I actually MEAN.
Clue for the future: Serious complaints do not involve songs from the soundtrack to Urban Cowboy.

You're the last person to be lecturing about righteous indignation, my friend.
I do have a sense of humour, but unfortunately, it is hard to gauge when someone is joking or not on a message board. People always take me seriously when I'm obviously joking, so it happens to the best of us. :xoxo:

As much as I love Debra Winger, the prospect of watching John Travolta's bulge for two hours did not, and never will, appeal to me. So, I haven't seen the whole thing, not would I know the soundtrack if I heard it. ;)

I find it hard to get my humour across online at times... Words are sometimes useless things when written down on paper or on screen, no inflection to make the sarcasm really stand out..

In fact, what the hell is a Gonzo? (no porn answers please  )
He's an odd creature, bit like my boss.... Actually I wouldn't want to see more than one of them, it would ruin his uniqueness...
