The top is different. You have ot give the woman credit for changing all those shawls and accessories on the new tour. There were at least 15 new things she added to the wardrobe so I think you are being alittle harsh on that.

She does sound and look wonderful. I am definitly going to buy this.

only barely, cause i don't know who Stephen Sprouse is. Would he hold her down and dress her? oh, by the way, i was looking at the south beach diet book in whole foods yesterday. I noticed the meals are very specific, and there's no alternatives mentioned in the phase one meals. Did you eat exactly those meals? Luckily, online, i noticed veg. alternatives cause i was thinking "i don't want to necessarily have to eat all that cheese"

He's Debbie's designer.

The meals in that book are only suggestions to give you an idea of what foods to eat. You can make up your own meals, just stay on the list of foods you can have. You can also pretty much eat as much as you want of the foods on the list.

She already does most of the time. I think I once pointed out that she looked like a sausage that had spilled out of it's wrapper, yet was actively trying to get back in. Miss Nicks wouldn't know how to wear clothes and dress properly if her life depended on it. She tries to create the appearance that she's slender by wearing lots of black, yet she wears it quite improperly by wearing many layers and topping it all off with shoulderpads (of all things). The hair doesn't help most of the time, either.

Edited To Add: She was on the right track at the last Henley benefit. Very simple and elegant, yet still trademark Stevie. The lily also brightened her up and drew more attention to her face. She should go for that look more often, she looked radiant.

I'm not saying that Stevie's wardrobe couldn't use to be freshened up... but Debbie always looks like an overweight former-sexpot secretary trying to fit into dresses too short and too tight in a failed attempt to impress the new boss. IMO.

Stevie at least wears corsets to thin her waist, before she puts on something smaller. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I don't care if she's not thin... it doesn't matter to me what someone weighs. But I am at a loss to see how Debbie's style is somehow considered flattering, in comparison to Stevie's style.

Debbie looked HORRIBLE a few years back. She looked about 70 and fat in about 1999-2000. But she did a complete turn around and now looks amazing and slim ever since she got her hair cut. Now I don't want Stevie to ever think about getting her hair that short, but it worked for Debbie.

I think she looks good, she just needs to ditch those frocks that she insists on wearing. They simply aren't flattering, IMO, and they never have been. She wears those pads to take attention away from her hips and midsection, but it works the opposite way because the frock doesn't complement those areas. She ends up looking bulky.

I think Stevie... for the most part... dresses in a way that's flattering to her figure, while maintaning the "Stevie Nicks Style."
But she definitely doesn't help herself when she adds the extra layers of fabric (like what she wore during "Sara" on the last leg of the tour).

But I've always felt that she's dressed in a more flattering way than other no-longer-skinny female rock-stars.

Those corsets are the problem!! They don't slim her waist; they make her hips look bigger. Take it from someone who knows what not to wear when your hips are wide. Something like her pants and long tops hide the hips and makes her body look longer and therefore leaner. The corset makes her waist look shorter and there's the hip problem again. The dress dissention complimented was an empire waist. That's exactly the kind of cut that's most flattering... It emphases those boobies but hangs loose enough not to draw attention to the hips.

You're right about the layers. Those are such a stupid idea. I really don't know how anyone could beleive adding more layers is slimming! But her Sara look was so different and fresh that I didn't mind the bulk.

When Stevie shed the cardigan for Rhiannon and busted out the cleavage, she was hot!!! But first impressions are important, and when she comes out for the Chain in those layers all covered up that doesn't do it.

These things may sound mean but I love Steive so much. When I saw her in concert her aura made up for any thickness around the middle and she's a beautiful person. If she'd just dress in a more flattering way she could still knock 'em dead like she does when she wears those pantsuits in the Destiny Rules. But I guess all this does nothing since she is being advised by someone who can't figure out how to dress anyone over a size 6. She may have been able to dress Stevie then but not ever since.

JMHO.

Yeah, of course. When a woman gains weight, that's the first place they gain it.

As for push-up bras, Julia Roberts is as flat chested as they come, but duct tape and a good bra pushed the suckers up to her chin.

Stevie's clothes are just too tight. If she wore clothes that fit better and skimmed her figure instead of clinging she would look better. I don't really think she looks bad now, but she could look ravishing in something that fit well. Even just a small change like changing the first tier of her dress, the one around her hips, to a single color instead of that burn out velvet with the bulky pattern that just adds emphasis where you don't want it!

Exactly. I felt so bad for her when she said she wears black because it's slimming. She's deluded. It's only slimming when you wear it properly.

I wasn't sad for her, she was just telling in a funny way what every woman knows; her attitude about it seemed to me more philosophical than deluded... :)

You're missing my point. She's deluded in thinking that the color black is going to make her look slim when she wears it like she does. Black is only slimming when worn right, and that does not include 3,560 layers of it. :) I hope most women don't think black is slimming when a million layers are piled on.

I dunno how she would twirl in them, then one might get a glimpse of her actually butt, and that can never happen...But I would like to see her perform a whole concert wearing that for once. You've gone on record as saying that the fella who designs (well, designed) for Debbie should design for Stevie, and I just don't think Debbie has a flattering style for a woman her age.
That dress might not be indicitive of the type of dress you're meaning for Stevie, but, to me, it's indicitive of the types of clothing I usually see Debbie wearing... too young for her age, and/or too tight for her body.

Stevie certainly goes too far in the opposite direction, by covering up too much and trying too hard to conceal things... but Debbie needs to learn that in fashion, less is NOT more. Especially when you're 60+.

She clearly isn't thick, though, and Miss Nicks could try a raw food diet to aid her in reducing the size of that Mack truck she calls her rear end. Or Remifemin.

Stevie can remain the size she is right now... I don't care what she weighs and never have. I'd be ok with it if she still weighed what she did at her heaviest.

And, diet or no diet, you can't fight body-type... barring cosmetic surgery.
I had a good female friend who could lose enough weight to get her waistline down to a TINY measurement, and she still had extremely wide hips. She hated that, and it frustrated her, but that was her body-type and there was no getting around it.

Stevie's locked into a style that doesn't always do her justice, but I'm still thankful she hasn't gone Debbie's route.

But, we will agree to disagree because nothing Stevie wears these days flatters her. She wouldn't know how to dress if her life depended on it. Debbie has had some real clunkers, and many at that, but at least she does something different and doesn't let age get in her way.

But, we will agree to disagree because nothing Stevie wears these days flatters her. She wouldn't know how to dress if her life depended on it.

See, I think there are many outfits Stevie wears these days that flatter her... it's just that her basic "stage uniform" isn't one of them.

She can be more casual and colorful in her off-stage clothing, but feels she has to stay true to the handkerchef hems and lacey shawls, in order to live up to the public's idea of Stevie Nicks.
Sometimes what she wears on stage does still work... other times it's not as flattering as something else she could have worn instead.
But I disagree that "nothing" she wears flatters her.

Debbie has had some real clunkers, and many at that, but at least she does something different and doesn't let age get in her way.

Sweetie, if you're still wearing those tight leather pants when you're 60, more power to ya... but don't be surprised if others laugh about it.

I'm not saying someone should dress like Granny Clampett, but micro-mini skirts and fishnet stockings at 60 years old isn't flattering... it's kinda sad.

Tina Turner pulls it off because she has the playfullness and charisma to pull it off, AND because she dances so intensely that she NEEDS to wear shorter skirts. But it should be noted that she doesn't wear minis offstage these days.

Yes, but I doubt you'd criticize Miss Nicks if she wore something too tight while she was "thick." ;)

There have been times when I've said, "Oh, Stevie... what were you thinking?"

I never said any such thing, my dear.
I recall saying that I didn't feel the performances were nearly as dreadful as folks were making them out to be (the shippers might be happy to note that they're not the only ones prone to blowing the tiniest things out of proportion ;) ). I'm a Stevie Nicks fan... I make no apologies for that. God forbid I actually enjoy what she does, without constantly wanting her to dress differently, sing differently, write differently, produce her albums differently.
It's not that I looooooooove every teeny-tiny thing she does, and it's not that I think Stevie is immune to fashion faux-pas or lyrical or vocal snafus, it's just that I don't usually bother to complain about the things that don't knock my socks off.
If that makes me look like a sycophant, then so be it. ;)

By the way, I readily admit that I defend her... I was just taking the opportunity to point out that you defend Debbie the way you've always razzed me (and plenty of others) for defending Stevie. Just a friendly reminder that it's not something us "Chiffon Heads" hold the market on. ;)

Definitely, and I'd trade to have the video of it :D

Although I will give you that she looks a LOT better than she did on the Divas show...she still looks like a 60 year old trying to look hot in her daughter's outfit to me. I still find her pretty scarey!!
No way does she looks 60! I can only wish I look that good when I'm her age! Crikey!

Uhm...

Where in that quote did I say those were about the song parodies? I clearly stated that you defended Stevie relentlessly after those awful performances (when, in all actuality, every one of them sucked but John).

But, dissie, sweetheart... I never once said that Stevie's hair looked frizzy due to the fault of a camera, or that she sounded off because of a poor sound system.
Whether what you commented on was in regards to the song parodies or not, it sounded like you were attributing those particular arguing points to me, and, frankly, I never said them.

I said that I felt the performances weren't nearly as dreadful as people were making them out to be, end of story. (Though I'm pretty doggone sure that I did agree that they also weren't anywhere near the best they could have been either.)

I never found it nasty. I believe I said that while I didn't necessarily agree with it, I found it quite funny. Get those cataracts fixed, man!

You asked Kate why she didn't take offense at the "little ditty le Stew posted," because it was "just as nasty."
Perhaps Kate just felt that saying Debbie is a faded sexpot with a poor choice in wardrobe isn't nearly as biting as the comment about Stevie's "Mack truck of a rear end." Smilie faces or not. ;)

Yet you turned it into a tirade against the dress. :p

Eh, I was having a bit of harmless fun... no more cutting or snide than about 90% of the things posted around these parts to ruffle people's feathers. ;)

I'm doggone proud of that parody, I should add! :D

I get laid frequently, this is as laid-back as I get.

Dude, if this is laidback, I'd hate to see you when you're going through a drought! :xoxo:

So, what d'ya say? Are we gonna have that Battle Royal Sparky suggested? It'd be a great way to make money for charity!

Of course, we can't let Jason help organize it, or he'll have us wrestling in mud, that cheeky little monkey! ;)

By the way, there were more emoticons in the above post, to further illustrate that I'm taking it all in jest, but I keep getting the message that I've included too many!

"I either say too much, or I... I don't say enough...."

Grrr.

If you didn't, I apologize, I haven't gone back to look for the old Leno threads. ;) But you still attributed my post to the wrong thing, it was never about the parodies.

That was a sarcastic comment made in jest, as the emoticon denoted. :p

Maybe, maybe. But that still doesn't negate the fact that her ass is huge.

First things first. Are you referring to the Battle as Royal, or Sparky as Royal ? If it is the latter, I am going to need to rustle up a throne, a crown, and some red velvet cape and faux Ermine jockstrap getup to wear to this event.

It is good to have this clarified. There are, as a matter of fact, a few existing items that could be altered a bit to complete the ensemble required to attend/ and or officiate this event.

Royalty ? Hmmm...there are many who will eagerly testify that I am a Royal pain in a**, anyway.

I think Stevie has better style then Debbie does based on the pictures Dissention has shown us. Stevie may dress more her age but it certainly makes her look much classier then Debbie does in those pics. I mean she looked downright trashy. She has a better body then Stevie. But Stevie has a prettier face, a better chest, and a classier sense of style.

As far as Stevie's Leno song last year- are you talking about the one with SYW one night and then Peacekeeper the next? I really liked those performances! Especially the SYW one. Stevie was very thin then. And I know I am the only one who liked Stevie's black dress with the button up jacket! I missed it on this leg of the tour! :(

Unfortunately, the laughing emoticon that I added eluded you. It was a joke. Why didn't you take issue with the little ditty Le Stew posted? It was just as nasty. I know why! It wasn't about Stevie, it was about someone else!

Your laughing emoticon did not elude me. I saw it. I just didn't find your joke particularly funny or good natured.

The comment didn't bother me because it was about Stevie per se. But I guess I could have been more clear. An analogy if you will...When I was a little girl anytime someone would raise their voice at me I would cry and would often hear such comments as "oh, you're just so sensitive." I'm sure you know the tone of voice...the one that says, "yeah this statement is innocuous enough, but don't fool yourself into thinking it's meant to be flattering...it's not." For years I tried to create another image for myself--becoming quite the master over such frivilous things as tears. ;) Until finally one day I decided to be just try and be comfortable in my own skin. Still I can honestly say that there is nothing that bothers me quite like being accused of being "sensitive." It's like picking at a very old scab. And while I know it is a rather preposterous idea that Stevie Nicks ever has or ever will visit such a message board, I am a firm believer in karma. Knowing that weight and her physical appearance has at times been the fruit of many an insecurity and has even led her to walk away from something that she so obviously loves (performing) because of not only the way she felt about herself but also because she could no longer bare the scrutiny and the looks of disappointment.

So yeah, emoticon or no  emoticon, your comment bothered me because your picking at a scab--a well publicized scab. And I guess there could be some hypocricy in my failure to defend Debbie Harry. But the fact is, outside of the music, I don't know much about her and so I readily admit the failings of my human empathy in that regard.

And if this whole idea makes me a dull, humorless, goody-goody girl scout, then so beit. Just please don't say it makes me "sensitive." ;)

I live in Southern California, and the local PBS station, KCET, has yet to assign an airdate for the Chris Isaak XMas Soundstage!! Anyone else in LA who's wondering about this?! I emailed KCET, and am awaiting their response.

I'm thinking that they may be holding it to air closer to Christmas... oh, and there is a commercial for it airing on cable tv!! I saw it last night on VH1. It's specifically for the Isaak cd, but shows clips from and mentions the special. They mention Stevie by name and show atleast 2 closeups!

I want to see this show (two of my favorites, La Nicks and Mr. Wicked Game, together again)!!

Hey Josh... long time, no see. How are things?

I've been keeping an eye on the schedules for my local PBS stations, too, and so far, nothing.

They probably are waiting until a little closer to Christmas. At least I hope that's the case!

I hate you. You suck hardcore.

Right now i'm being teased thanks to fabulous Comcast Cable. I can hear Soundstage but I? can't see it. Why, you may ask? Only HDTV subscribers can watch it on the special PBS channel. So sorry we pay like, 8 million dollars a month to have two digital cable boxes but we don't have a HDTV -_- Mofos. </rant>
