Naughty, Brit! It means they have to sell their brand new house, build a new one on another property. You know they wanted to put in an 8th bathroom but ran out of room  ;)

Frankly, I'm perplexed as to why you'd sell the house you've been working on for a few years that you call your "greatest accomplishment." Strange.

OK..so what do you do with 7 bathrooms for goodness sake? Have a shower in a diff room every night???? That would drive me batty......
Also, does this mean, any thoughts of a solo album coming out of the new studio are doomed? So many questions!!!!

Umm sorry Patty. I have some other pages with the listing..it has his address listed so I did not post those links..don't want to list his addy on the boards. I can send you the link through email or PM if you want. The house was listed for sale on September 11, 2004 and I was thinking that about your photo just this morning. I cannot get over how beautiful the view is from this home..the only thing is, you would not even know any kids even lived here... Not a toy or swingset in sight. Beautiful grounds nonetheless.

I have a couple of guesses some silly, others not so silly about why it's up for sale....
1) Maybe Lindsey prefers living in the Four Seasons hotel... He spent so long living there maybe he just can't adjust to a house!
2) Maybe the whole house was rebuilt and decorated to be sold at a profit, although if he actually owns the land too it seems kinda cheap
3) Do you think he's actually sick of living in LA and wants to move away? Does he want to get away to start over in another city or even state thats safer with better social influences for his kids to grow up?
4) Has W's re-election made his mind up to get out of the USA to protect his family? He's seen a few countries this past 18 months maybe he's seen somewhere he prefers?.... We have heard hints about his political feelings in his music
5) Stevie has a few spare rooms in Arizona and he's decided to take up her offer to move the family in!
6) He's earned sooooooooooooooooo much money on this tour, 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms are just frankly not enough!?!?

Wow, that house is gorgeous, but honestly it's not very cozy, can't imagine raising 3 kids there. They must not have photographed the rubber room in the basement where they keep the young uns' so they can't break any of those expensive valuables.

It is gorgeous, but I too wondered where the kids' stuff is? One of the things I noticed in the kitchen was no high chair. Maybe Lindsey and Kristen found the location of the house was not kid-friendly, especially when they get involved in activities that require car pooling. Maybe there were too many fans driving by all the time and they worried about the kids' security . . .

Maybe there's another baby on the way and they need some more bedrooms ;). It's a gorgeous home. The Town and Country article really didn't do it justice. As far as it not being cozy... it looks alright to me. Too neat, yes, but it's expected that they would put all the kid's stuff away before photographing for a style magazine or a real estate listing. I doubt most of the houses in design articles or on Cribs really look like that all the time.

I was thinking something similar, maybe it's back to Kristens home state (is it Wisconsin?)..you know farm house/chickens/horses, whatever..how cool would that be...or..what about, he needs the money to build Buckingham Record label Ltd to finance his solo work and up coming artists..

I didn't want to post over there because I didn't want to start any new drama. I've gota tell you, I loved your post about this topic at the BN board. Even if I don't agree with every point, it was very well thought out speculation. Very entertaining too! You know how to spin a good yarn.
Who the hell knows what the rich and famous really want out of life?
Are they really like rest of us? I wonder...
It sure is a shame he's letting such a fabulous property go. I can think of somebody who likes to live fabulously especially while suffering.
If you have to suffer why not be fabulous while you're doing it? Sound familiar?
maybe the purpose of the article was to increase the value for selling purposes?
and maybe he's leaving the country because of dubya.. lol, thought the same thing

I can't wait to see how people are going to pounce on this as somehow being about trouble in the Buckingham's marriage. Everything is eventual and no one's been making any ridiculous claims about the "love triangle" that is supposedly made up of Lindsey, Kristin, and Stevie for quite awhile.
I can just imagine the thoughts going through the heads of the folks who just know that Lindsey and Queen Fairy Farts are having a torrid love affair and are going to get back together.

All the marriage drama or lack thereof aside, can we start critiquing the house?
Because JESUS. TV in the bathtub? Lime green lamps with THE HEADBOARD? A painted-on-the-wall bookcase? A photograph on ONE SIDE of another bookcase, but not the other (composition, plz?)?
Someone get an interior designer in there. Jesus.

Their biggest faux pas is having table lamps on the kitchen counters. The thought of that alone makes me physically ill. I quite like the headboard, but I don't like anything else in the bedroom. IMO, the whole house looks too "new rich," as in someone from a working class background hit the lottery, then bought and dressed up a house according to what they thought was in style without any of it having the slightest bit of warmth or history. Very dry and bland. I question the sanity of anyone who says that house is their "dream home."
Don't even get me started on the whole Spanish theme, it's such old hat and if the Buckinghams were going to go for that look, they should infused it with something fresh.

Dissention, even YOU could admit that it's not that big of a jump to consider that as a serious possibility. Or have you just not been paying attention since, oh, 1997? What is your hypothesis on this situation anyway? I'd love to know why Kristen & Lindsey have decided to sell "their greatest achievement" only 2 years since it was completed. If you have the whole truth, believe me, I'm listening. I'd LOVE to hear it.

You hit the nail on the head, Meredith. I wouldn't hypothesize as to why they're selling their house because I don't have one shred of evidence that would aid me in coming up with one. ;) For all I know, the whole thing was an investment opportunity. We all know that Lindsey is good with his money.
I've been paying attention perfectly well since '97 and there is nothing to suggest any of the wild things that so many people like to post and believe. People see what they want to see. You could give me a million examples of things that have occurred onstage, but not one of those things has any credibility to it. Stevie and Lindsey are entertainers and the drama is what made them so famous and is what continues to propel a lot of their success today. They play it up for the crowds and are totally conscious of what they're doing.
I also do not analyze interviews and try to find deep, hidden meanings when it comes to their comments like a lot of people do. I don't listen to their songs and automatically believe that the songs are about each other. And, quite frankly, there is nothing to suggest that anything is wrong with the Buckingham marriage or that Lindsey secretly pines over Stevie. It simply isn't realistic and if I wanted to, I could come up with lots of "evidence" that suggests that Lindsey has a thing for that background singer Jana. People see what they want to see. I have no problem with it, espeically if it helps in making someone enjoy the music even more. But let us not publicly insinuate things that we have no clue over because it isn't fair to either one of them. I know lots of people like to vilify Kristin online, but I don't and find it rather brazen and ignorant. Many seem to think that they can tell what's going on in her relationship with Lindsey or how she's feeling just by studying the look on her face at a concert. I don't think so and find that whole notion utterly laughable.
Obviously, this isn't necessarily directed at you, darling. But can't you see my point? I can point at all the "evidence" and other such nonsense if I wanted to, but it doesn't make the whole thing seem any more palatable or believable. None of us even knows them personally, let alone know them well enough to make such grand statements about what we believe to be occurring in their private lives.
PS: Your quite the match for David's snarkiness today.

I do think it's utterly plausable that they are possibly splitting. Who knows! But it doesn't mean that Stevie has to be involved in any of it. I see rejoicing elsewhere at the impending end to the Buckinghams marriage and the hope that he will be ending up in the arms of Stevie. The romantic in me would love to see this but also remember that 3 young children are very involved in anything that 'might' be occuring

Of course it's plausible that they're splitting, just as it's plausible that Stevie is a lesbian and that John really put the John Kerry sticker on his own case. But whenever this whole "love triangle" business comes up, I don't hear anything plausible; I hear romantic fantasies that are even more flighty than anything Stevie could write or sing. Sometimes I wonder if the woman who has made her living by actually living in a dream world is more grounded in reality than her fans. I don't think she studies other celebrities and their facial expressions, only to jump onto a chat board and proclaim how such and such loves what's-his-name and how intense and passionate their unspoken love is. No offense to anyone, but call a spade a spade. And the spade I currently see is telling me that none of us know a goddamned thing.

Investment? You decide.
For nineteen years, Lindsey Buckingham lived in a 4,000-square-foot hilltop house in L.A. that was distinguished less by architecture (he calls it a third-rate post-and-beam faux Neutra) than by its status as a monument to the blue-eyed, high-cheekboned Buckingham's days as a rock-icon bachelor.
"A lot of things happened up here," says the dry-witted singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer, whose recording sessions in his garage for Fleetwood Mac's mid-eighties reunion album, Tango in the Night, were so ego-charged they ended with his famous decadelong [sic] hiatus from the band. "It was crazy," he concludes.
Lindsey is fifty-four now and cozily domesticated, with a wife, Kristen; a six-year-old son, William; a four-year-old daughter, Leelee; and a third child born in April. During their preparenting days, the couple avoided the house and its ghosts of excesses past, preferring the polite luxury of the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. It was two years' worth of mounting hotel bills and the sight of a very pregnant Kristen trudging through the grand lobby that finally signaled the need for Lindsey to put his old place on the market and search for a permanent family home.
Then he heard news that changed everything: potential buyer Richard Donner, the director of the Lethal Weapon films, planned to raze the house and "make it like a castle, with subterranean parking," says Lindsey with a shudder. Suddenly his appreciation for the property and its site – a westside promontory with a spectacular view of the L.A. basin, from the beach to downtown – was renewed. "Location-wise," he says, "we couldn't have done any better."
Slouched on a sofa in Kristen's new ground-floor study, Lindsey, in faded black jeans and a softly wrinkled linen shirt, idly picks out a tune on a blond-wood Spanish guitar and recalls coming to "the conclusion we'd be better tearing it down ourselves and making something totally our own. It was great – like making an album." He laughs and then punctuates the sentence with a quick guitar-string arpeggio. "Times two."
They began in the summer of 1999. Agreeing on a look – the 1920s Mediterranean Revival style of architect Wallace Neff – was easy; getting the size and siting right was a different story. "Too big, by about 5,000 square feet" is what Lindsey remembers thinking of L.A. architect Kevin Clark's first two designs, one of which aimed the house exclusively toward the Pacific. But strategy number three succeeded beautifully by reorienting the house to incorporate sweeping vistas of the downtown skyline and the Getty Museum and by scaling back the proportions to those Neff himself might have come up with for one of his movie-colony clients.
"Back then, people didn't build houses that were out of proportion," says Kristen, a photographer by training (she met her husband on a shoot for one of his solo albums). She signed off on a final floor plan that included four bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a study, a family room and a trio of ground-floor loggias. That last touch was partly inspired by her memories of porches in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, the small town where she was raised, and by the balmy southern California climate. "Sitting outside while you watch your kids play ball on the lawn – you can't beat it," she says.
During the months before construction began in fall 2000, the Buckinghams pored over books, met with experts and drove around southern California, checking out historic sites for details they hoped would give their new house a lived-in quality. "Kristen would say, 'How will we find an example of the way we want the stucco to look?'" Lindsey recalls. "Then we'd check out the Biltmore Hotel in Santa Barbara and say, 'Okay, this is what we want.' It became an obsession." (Over the years, the two had already applied a similarly single-minded approach to building their now-healthy collections of art, books and photographs.)
Inside the house, it's easy to pick out architectural elements in the spirit of various Mediterranean Revival styles, including arched doorways, beamed and painted ceilings and a wrought-iron railing that snakes up a curving stairway. When it comes to categorizing the decor, however, Madeline Stuart, the voluble Los Angeles-based interior and furniture designer who began collaborating with the Buckinghams in 1999, is at a loss for words.
"I'd love to come up with a name for it," admits Stuart, who grew up in a 1920s Spanish-style house in Beverly Hills and is the daughter of a producer/director father and a decorator mother whose work was favored by film stars. "Maybe something about how it lacks pretense and formality yet is comfortable and elegant."
Stuart is preoccupied with the idea that if you were to visit the home of one of her other celebrity clients – actor Jason Alexander, director Gary Ross, production executive John Goldwyn – you wouldn't detect a designer's hand. "I want people to walk in and think that everything has always been there, that it feels natural," she says.
At the Buckinghams', this means a highly dedicated eclecticism: fur-topped antler stools for watching TV in the family room; the master bedroom's 1930s leather-and-nickel chaise that, local lore has it, formerly belonged to Brad Pitt; Mexican dining chairs covered in cracked red leather around a table in the sunlight-filled kitchen; and a seashell-encrusted armoire in Leelee's room, just one of the many eccentric pieces Stuart and Kristen bid on successfully at the 2001 Christie's auction of the estate of Tony Duquette, the late L.A. decorating legend.
The vintage effect comes across so well, in fact, that it's not always easy to discern what's genuinely old and what's a custom-made Stuart/Buckingham knockoff. "If we couldn't locate it, then Madeline and I would research it and have it made," says Kristen, who found herself for the first time sketching things like drawer pulls, light fixtures and patterns for the tobacco-tinted terra-cotta floor tiles that vary slightly from room to room. "Once Kevin Clark gave us the original drawings, I just thought, I want to change this and this and this," she says. "The chance to draw something and have it built – that's amazing, really amazing. I thought, Wow, this is going to live on for years."
While Kristen has overseen the finishing touches, Lindsey's been on the road for much of the past twelve months, criss-crossing the United States, Europe and Australia with Fleetwood Mac on their "Say You Will" tour. But when he's home and walks out into the backyard, with its 280-degree view and its new swimming pool, he starts to imagine a future filled with... pool parties. "Kristen and I have always joked, 'If we build it, they will come,'" he says, gazing at the palm trees rustling overhead. "People who've been friends of mine for a long time need a place to come to reflect on the last twenty-five years of their lives. They seem to like being up here – it's so welcoming."
It's also exactly what he'd envisioned while encamped at the Four Seasons: a family place that has helped him put the past into proper perspective. Adjacent to the house, just beyond the gurgling French limestone fountain that Will and Leelee like to zoom around in their toy cars, is Lindsey's new recording studio, filled with maracas, tambourines, bells, a mixing console and twenty-five guitars, where he can hole up to work and sleep. The studio is constructed of old, pitted bricks Kristen found on the Internet and imported from Ohio; so the architectural historian who appeared on the premises one day not long ago can be forgiven for expressing alarm. "He's putting out a book on old homes in the area, and he thought he'd missed us," says Kristen, laughing. "We simply could not convince him that this was new. I consider it one of our biggest successes."

Investment? You decide.
You must be new to the world of celebrity real estate. If I had a cent for every article where a celebrity gushed about their new home, only to sell it shortly thereafter, I'd be gushing about my new house...only to sell it shortly thereafter.
Like I said, no one knows what's up. Maybe they are splitting, maybe they aren't. But what I find ignorant and downright STUPID is how people jump up and say that he's divorcing his wife to shack up with Stevie. I mean, my word, get some couth and some class.

I've been paying attention perfectly well since '97 and there is nothing to suggest any of the wild things that so many people like to post and believe. People see what they want to see.
But can't you see my point? I can point at all the "evidence" and other such nonsense if I wanted to, but it doesn't make the whole thing seem any more palatable or believable. None of us even knows them personally, let alone know them well enough to make such grand statements about what we believe to be occurring in their private lives.
To be honest, I don't care one way or the other whether Stevie and Lindsey are together or not.
In fact, the re-coupling of those two head-strong people would probably prove disastrous... so I guess I'd be inclined to prefer they not get back together.
And, frankly, any tension between them, in so far as unresolved or unrequited feelings, can only be a good thing, because it lends itself to the music.
But, I have to say that I think it's a tad ironic that someone who's a confessed gossip-lover, would so quickly poo-poo any gossiping or insinuating on the part of other fans. ;)
Sure some of it is wiiiillllld and ultra-inplausable, but I've read other bits of celebrity gossip that were equally wild and inplausible, but no less relished by those reporting it.
It's the nature of the beast, as they say.
So there's my 2 cents on the topic.

There's a difference, in my opinion, between the trashy celebrity gossip that I love (the kind that is so ridiculous that it's unbelievable) and "gossip" that is simply imagined by fans and passed around fan circles, based on nothing more than a spoken word or a facial expression at a concert. I love gossip, but I laugh at those who actively create it and then believe it. I guess I can differentiate between fantasy and reality. ;)

No, but I am aware of PR gone terribly wrong. Like I've said elsewhere, this came out the day of the Atlanta show which was at the start of the second leg of the US tour. Things had been leaked out that didn't make Lindsey sound like the happy family man he was supposed to be and this gave more clause to fuel the ANTI "FAIRY" FIRE, I suppose. As far as him shacking up with Stevie, rock on if they do but I feel sad for those children no matter what's going on.

Yea, and the fan was one of YOUR friends that was in the Four Seasons in Atlanta who watched Lindsey makes small talk with a big breasted Cheetah Girl in the bar. He wasn't the only one who saw, it was seen by quite a few other people and posted on Mick's board too. Needless to say, he didn't go to any bars in his hotel after that. Perhaps one day when I buy myself a clue and some common sense I can have a conversation that isn't shrouded in some chiffon coated fantasy. The whole song is about one person. It's self evident. You think she was writing along, about how "maybe he fell for her again, she watched it happen, every day, day by day...night by night" and "maybe now he could be good for her, and they should be together"
when suddenly
she thinks...hmm, lets see, i was talking about this other guy, in a continuing narrative, but I'll put something about Lindsey going home right here...

It's not surprising in the least. If his fans can create pornographic fan fiction about him for the lucky schlubs who have access to the Internet and can create gossip about his supposedly rocky marriage, I wouldn't put a single thing past them. But it certainly doesn't shine a good light on them and shows what their priorities in life are.

however - I think their "thing" if there was one, was way past. I think if Lindsey's marriage is breaking up, it wouldn't be about Stevie.

I'm not saying you said no one knew anything (although later in your post, you do say you don't know anything regarding the issue at hand). I just think that saying everything's peachy on the Messner/Buck front could be speculation, depending on the amount of information one knows about their relationship, just as saying there's trouble in Lindsey's Shangri-La is speculation (as many are saying).
Like, I could say "Oh, the sky's green." But that doesn't make it so. Just like saying MessBuck are getting divorced - just because someone says/specs it doesn't make it so. Saying they're happily married doesn't necessarily make it so, either.
I'm trying not to take sides with this at this point. I'm really just trying to get my facts straight about the whole thing, since there are so many things flying around right now.

I never said everything was peachy keen in the Buckingham household. For all I know, they slap each other around nightly and shag like minks in heat afterwards. For all I know, Lindsey sleeps in the guesthouse. For all I know, Kristin is holed up in the Four Seasons. For all I know, everything is peachy keen. The POINT is: I do not know anything. I think they intended to sell it from at least that long ago if not from the begining of the project. I agree that it's a financial mistake unless the costs to rebuild stripped more from the piggy bank than they thought it would. Hell if I know.
-
Yeah, she said one line was about him. If you know for a fact that the entire song is about Lindsey Buckingham, I'm all ears.
In the SYW Doc- The part where she's sitting on the couch talking about TD. She admits that it's about Lindsey. She says basically: Thrown Down is a song that was written on the last tour, the Dance tour, and in it's own weird way about my relationship with Lindsey.... you get to a point in your life when you can write philosophically on these things.... and it's great that Lindsey and I can write things that are about each other and were about each other and still mean something to us now.
[That is not a direct quote but the gist of what she said. ]

There was no "shipper-hate train." I plainly stated that I couldn't wait to hear what the romantics would do with this house hoopla, especially since I hadn't seen or read any of the crazy stories in a long while. If you took that as "shipper-hate," that's your prerogative. I call it as I see it, always have. If I think something's ridiculous, I say so. And the stuff that a lot of you guys spread around with such glee is off-putting. Honestly, how in the world would any of you know whether or not Lindsey is still in love with Stevie and vice-versa? How would any of you know whether he married his wife just because she got pregnant? How would any of you know whether his wife is a "bitch" or not? It grows more absurd each time. I don't begrudge anyone who believes such things, but I think it's rather classless for people (not you) to sit around the dude's hotel bar to see which busty blonde he's lusting after. I think it's rather desperate to read into the stupidest things in an interview, analyze them, get a few dates together where they showed "passion" onstage, and then proclaim that they're passionately in love. :sorry:
I gossip, as Johnny Stew pointed out, about celebrities and I like to do so. But I don't actively create it or believe it. It's fun to throw around, but it doesn't mean anything because I know nothing about them and their personal lives and I don't take anything as fact.
:sorry: I guess we all don't understand the truth when it's glaring right in front of our eyes. Maybe someday you will be more fortunate like us "delusional" romantics. Just because you (you civilized non-shipper, you) don't like what you're hearing doesn't mean it's just ugly speculation.
Your idea of truth is unsubstantiated gossip, so if that's what you mean when you say I don't understand the "truth," you're absolutely right and quite astute. To see a facial expression at a concert, interpret it, and then proclaim it as "THE truth" is bogus and you know it. And even when someone says "something went on at this concert," another person pipes up and says that isn't what happened at all. People see what they want to see, doesn't mean any of it is true.
PS: LOVE the new avatar.  That's one of my new favorite movies.

My "truth" is not the truth you're referring to here. It's not made up of kisses and hugs and looks and talks or any onstage behavior-- or any interviews for that matter. And you know that's not what I'm talking about as much as I do.

With 3 kids, a 4-bedroom house seems kinda small - and compared to other celeb houses, this entire property seems rather small.
Courtney Cox-Arquette and Cher have both been known to buy houses, redecorate them, and sell them for mega-bucks. Maybe the Buckingham clan has outgrown this place and Kristen needs a new project? Sheesh, for $21 mil, I would hope the furniture is included, sans LB's recording equipment, of course. I'm sure Picasso did a painting here or there that he considered his "greatest accomplishment." Isabella Rossellini is STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNING. I don't think a more perfect woman could be created.
The version I have (it's not the best quality, but it's alright) has Tracey Ullman and Willis having an affair. She convinces him to steal the potion and they high-tail it to Europe, leaving Meryl and Goldie to fend for themselves. About 70 years later, they all run into each other by accident and Tracey and Willis look phenomenal, while Goldie and Meryl look like utter ****.

That's because they cut Ullman out completely.
I guess that test audiences hated the ending, so they re-shot it and had Meryl and Goldie fall down the church steps and shatter into pieces. Since that ending didn't gel with the Ullman subplot, they cut her out.

I just got the limited edition of Dario Argento's "Suspiria" in the mail and I have it on right now. That is one scary flick, did you ever see it? It's freaking me out.
Omigosh, i watched it during holloween and got a huge late fee, cause i was scared to watch it (suspiria) but it turned out to be not that scary, so i was pissed. I loved it though, but mainly for the set design. Did you see those even lined, perfectly colored hallways? I was in heaven. it was the same thing with Ice Storm, another movie i loved, where the colors and shapes lined up perfectly...but i did love that movie...(suspiria)
aw, man, i saw naked lunch in the theatre... when i was 18.
I really want to see those interviews from videodrome. But what else did Roeg do? i feel like there's some movie i like, that he did, that i can't grasp...

Oy, Suspiria is chilling. That Goblin soundtrack is nightmare-inducing. I love how the opening credits have a narrator, but then you never hear from him again. The part that really horrifies me is when Susie's roommate is being stalked through the school and she ends up jumping into the room full of razor wire. My skin crawled. And the end, where she's exploring the secret passage? I almost fainted.
Argento made some really freaky flicks back in the day. You should see Phenomena with Jennifer Connelly. That's so weird that I can't even describe it. He made one called Opera that was just ridiculous, but so inventive that you have to admire it.
I had read The Ice storm, so I was kinda disappointed with the movie. But it was pretty good. Love Sigourney and Joan.
Here's a list of Roeg's movies:

He hasn't made a decent flick since The Witches, though.

Another one you might like is Robert Altman's 3 Women with Sissy Spacek and Shelley Duvall. It's surreal. One of my all-time favorites since I was little. It was never released on video or DVD until May, 25 years after it was released. I was relying on a crappy copy I taped from PBS.

Omigosh, i guess i was mistaken about roeg. suspiria wasn't that scary to me. but, yeah, it was weird about the roomate. I guess there just wasn't as much gratuitous gore as i was fearing. I thought the soundtrack was obvious, but good.
I'm so glad i didn't read ice storm before seeing it. The movie really touched me, in a special way. Joan Allen, quiet desperation, woot. but i'm suprised you didn't notice the design touches in either of them. Like, there is this scene, where joan allen is standing in the kitchen, and her outfit and the lines of the set all perfectly match. the whole movie is like that. But i'm a real fan of symetry and color match to make symbolism in movies... :D
But i love Kevin Kline, too, and the child actors in that movie were perfect. And you really can't say enough when you find child actors that don't irritate the **** out of you. Hmmm, i should read the book now that i've seen the movie, yeah? :wavey:

It's a beautiful movie; the cinematograpghy, the direction, the soundtrack, the performances (especially by Joan Allen and Sigourney Weaver IMO) are close to perfection. Actually I'm an Ang Lee huge fan and love every movie he has done, so maybe I'm a little biased. :D

I was never a Katie Holmes fan, but Pieces of April won me over. Honestly, that whole cast was exceptional, but her and Patricia Clarkson were amazing.
You should watch The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover in its entirety, it's breathtaking. The restaurant is so exquisite and the indivdual sections of it are all different colors (white for the bathroom, red for the banquet hall, green for the kitchen, etc.). You are so right about the guitar player living there, you'd never know it. I know when they do these photo lay outs for houses they try to make them look like something out of a magazine, no personal items, no toys etc....just very clean and simple, so that your not trying to appeal to only one type of buyer, but who knows, if he had left all the Fleetwood Mac stuff maybe some really rich Mac fan would buy it (some really rich Mac fan, now that's funny  ) But then again if he hasn't been living in the house very long maybe it never was decorated with the personal stuff, but your right welshwitch, very odd!

I thought the house was very nice, great views, nice pool and a lot of spacious grounds, the styling of the house itself is wonderful but the interior furniture just doesn't fit with the property.. I also think it's filled with unnecessary furniture. All the rooms had the same tones which is good for continuity but you couldn't escape the theme, I'd have used more subtle colour shades and variety myself. Browns, whites and creams are good in that they don't tend to date, too many yellowish hues for me there though..
I'm sure it will sell though, plenty of rich tasteless people in California, one of them will buy it... I cannot picture LB having lived here as it stands right now... The interior is just not him..

Long thread!!!
I just wanna throw in my speculation as to why LBs house is for sale...
.....................................BLACK MOLD!!!!!
That's right.... STACHYBOCHEROUS!!
He shouldna scrimped when selecting a remodel contractor.... for TWO YEARS water has been seeping in EVERYWHERE... and when the dog started getting sick (I didn't want to say one of the kids, because I'm just kinda funny that way), they took it to the vet and discovered a rare lung ailment caused only by STACHY! The Bs hired the same guy Ed McMahon used to rip the walls apart in the house and that's when they found it....
......................................BLACK MOLD!!!
When they called the Klean Up Krew for an estimate, they decided it would be more financially viable to sell the place. After all, it is kinda like celebrity memorabilia and you know how everyone LOVES memorabilia!

No matter how roughly countrified his home may appear, this person will have a “lace curtain” mentality. He likes frippery and his tastes run to the gaudy. Nowhere, in fact, is the L/O schizophrenia so obvious as in his home. The heavy and cumbersome side by side with the frivolous.

In the most recent issue of Vanity Fair magazine, there is an article called Nightmare On Sunset about a recent string of home invasions in Bel Air, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades and Beverly Hills. According to the article the residents are ..."in the grip of a crime wave. Over the last year, masked crews-and one solo bandit known as the Bel Air Burglar-have made off with tens of millions in loot, leaving the LAPD stymied and vitims swapping theories about how the thieves know exactly when and where to strike.
(snip)
Overall, the LAPD likes to stress, serious crime in Los Angeles was down 13.6 percent in 2004 compared with the previous year. And of all the areas in the city's 468-square-mile sprawl, the star -studded neighborhoods of West LA are among the safest, monitored no only by several police forces but by private security compaies as well. Yet almost every day, it seems, ninja-like burglars, black-masked and black-grabed, are spotted climbing over security gates and recorded by surveillance cameras smashing rocks through plate-glass windows and prying open safes or simply ripping them out of walls and hauling them away.
(snip)
Like many of the victims interviewed by Vanity Fair, the doctor and his wife have since moved, in their case to a sleekly contemporary home in another neighborhood. They have a new maid and what they hope is better security.
(snip)
All year, other crews with M.O.'s of their own have hit hillside homes. There's the gang of three black burglars who specialize in heavy lifting; they cart of plasma TV's into waiting vans. "They walked out with a safe that weighed hundreds of pounds," recounts one LAPD detective, A Russian crew seems to case houses by working as air-conditioner installers-one couple returned hime from a trip to New York in April to find their house on Tower Road ransacked and $50,000 to $60,000 in jewlery stolen, just after air conditioners had been installed...
(snip)
Burglaries, as LAPD deputy chief Moore likes to point out, are a crime of property, usually committed when no one is home. Hardly anyone during this spree, he says, had been hurt. but that changed on July 28, when a maid and her husband who worked for singer John Ondrasik of the band Five for Fighting, had the bad luck to surprise an armed burglar at the singer's Encino Avenue home. The maid's husband, 44-year-old Carlos Canton, was stabbed several times by the intruder, who was described by the LAPD as wearing dark clothing, possibly a security guard uniform. Canton survived the assault but was badly hurt.
(snip)
Last summer, the homeowner's association of Brentwood Park sent out a routine newsletter that mentioned, in passing, that the neighborhood had experienced at least 25 recent burglaries north of Sunset, 8 south of Sunset, 6 "follow home" robberies (when a victim in a car is followed home and then robbed), and one attempted child abduction."
Not all of the victims names were disclosed in the article. Among those who were named were Loree Rodkin, Sheila Vance, Beatrice Niven, Paris Hilton and Davis Factor.
So, after reading this, I was just wonder if this could be the reason for the Buckinghams to sell their new house. If I was home alone with three children and my husband was on tour a lot, it would certainly make me think twice.

Yikes. I certainly hope that the Buckinghams weren't forced to give up a magnificent house they spent years building and customizing as well as a property Lindsey has owned for 20 years because of a spate of burglaries. That would be a real shame. :(

From the article: "The police told me that our ring like to hit houses on weekend nights between seven and eight," recounts the wife of a major Hollywood producer, whose Benedict Canyon house was burgled last February as the trend grew more apparent. "It happened to us on a Saturday night at 8:07."
The producer's wife feels sure the thieves knew that the housekeepr was off on Saturday nights and that the house would be empty. Brazenly, they threw a large lawn sculpture through the living room window, ran up to the master bedroom and stuffed as much jewelry as they could into a pillowcase.
(snip)
The fence had a pawnshop on Western Avenue. The Beverly Hills police had swooped down on it with a search warrant, then gone to the fence's house, where they found his wife wearing some of the jewelry just stolen.
(snip)
Interestingly, the fence's wife worked in the real-estate field, for a title-escrow compan. The producer's house had been on the market for a year. Was this, perhaps, the conduit of inside information for this particular Cuban Crew?
(snip)
Some of the victims have quietly sold their houses and moved to other neighborhoods, hoping thieves won't follow them there. At least one victim, Loree Rodkin, has decided that a house in the hills now is too scary a proposition. Instead, she's bought an apartment in a highly secure high-rise building."

Two words... GATED COMMUNITY.
You would think at that price, it would be. I remember seeing something on TV one time that showed these thieves posing as repairmen to gain entry into homes. Wouldn't you think that Mr. and Mrs. Richie Rich would let the guard shack know when they're expecting repairs and the repair people would be on the "list" for that day in order to gain entry? Who knows.

Just wanted to let you all know that Lindsey and Kristen closed on a new house on December 21, 2004.
I work in the real estate industry and came across the information in my travels.
I hope that their home was not struck by the burlgars in Bel Air and congratulate them on their new home. :)

It's 3 miles away from their old home. I don't get it

So much for ambiguity.

Someone on another board had posted that they purchased a house in a location that I know to be incredibly close to the location of their Bel Air home. It just doesn't make sense to scale down and move 3 miles down the road. Maybe to them it does but I don't get it.

Frankly, I'm perplexed as to why you'd sell the house you've been working on for a few years that you call your "greatest accomplishment." Strange.
Uhmm - - - could it have been . . . for MONEY???
NOT like an artist like Lindsey is INTERESTED in that!???
From Steve Martin, 1978 or something:
"OHHHHhhh so it's a PROFIT thing! . . . "

It might be big but the square footage is significantly less than the house on the Hill and they have more kids. Plus, you have no idea that he actually MADE money selling the house on the hill...unless you are privy to his financial documents.
