Just a reminder to Lindsey completeists that Live Aid (dvd) was released today and it included the we are the world video featuring Lindsey. He also managed to sign his name dead center on the opening page. You can't hear him on the song or really even see him for more than 10 seconds, but thought there might be few out there that get everything.

Are we talking a dvd of the 1984 live aid concert?
Seems like theyr'e doing another 2004 version of "feed the world"..heard it yesterday in fact, what a load of....sorry, but not a patch on the '84 version( i need to see the video, I can't make out any of the voices at all!)

Yep the concert has been released in a 4 dvd set mixed in DTS 5.1 sound. There are about 6 hours of concert footage missing due to tapes that had been destroyed, but having watched the entire concert yesterday (10hours WHOO-HOO!) the dvd is well worth the purchase and has an added touch of lindsey mixed into the bonus features (still just talking about the video).

Ahh..yes, the concert, now that was one fab event  and to be mixed in 5.1 surround, sounds really good!
No, sorry, I was waffling on about Band Aid before and how they've formed the 2004 version using the "feed the world" song again.....
Lindseys appearance in the "WATW" was all too brief for sure, but he did look rather handsome  Kinda cool too he was making a wee bit of pop history as well.

yeah, it actually the third time that song will be released. In all honesty I am very surprised that none of the members of FMac performed at Live Aid. Christine probably could have hit wembley and it would have been toward the end of her solo tour or Lindsey could have easily guest starred on someone's track. Not that he couldn't perform solo yet, but since he hadn't toured I could picture him being uncomfortable with that spontaneous gathering.

Anyone know if there were reasons why none of the member performed?

I don't recall any female artists (certainly at the British end) doing it anyway, I'm probably wrong, but I can't think of any..seems likea more male dominated thing at the time.

I saw the video of We are The World (is that what it's called?) and Lindsey is standing at the back.

Boy did he have BIG HAIR!!!

The new version of Band Aid I don't think is as good as the original but then I'm a boring old fart.

I bought the "Making of 'We Are the World'" video just to catch a few more glimpses of Lindsey. Sadly it is really milliseconds. :( He seems to pal around with Dan Akroyd, of all people! lol

And I believe 1985 would have to be one of his worst hair years EVER:

Makes me wonder what Lindsey would think of those pictures now!
That one with Bob Dylan... yikes. That coat is just...horrible.

well, i'm sure we all looked pretty gross in the 80's. The difference is, some of us (Lindsey, bob) were famous rock stars...and some were not (you, me)
so, in the end, they still win...

Oh, but I like the jacket in the BD picture..it's weird and and wacky, a bit like LB's hair......don't ya think Kim Carnes looks a wee bit like Mrs B!!!

Actually My roommate and I thought Kim looked a bit like a very tired Linda McCartney. It took us nearly the entire song to realize it was Kim Carnes. As for those screen shots. Their great but different than what I've seen in the video on the DVD. We're these from a documentary on it or something or are there two versions of the video?

I have just shown my 74 year old mother the picture of Lindsey and she said (and I quote) "Bloody Hell he looks like Marj Simpson"

Just got this yesterday and it is so fun. I wondered why no one was there to represent FM. Judas Priest does their own metal version of Green Manalishi, though.

Just got this yesterday and it is so fun. I wondered why no one was there to represent FM.I don't remember hearing whether they were asked as a group or even individually. But the group was on hiatus; Stevie was experiencing studio troubles with her project; Lindsey wasn't going to perform by himself at a mammoth show like that; Christine wasn't going to do anything without Fleetwood Mac; & John & Mick wouldn't have done anything without their front line. 1985 just wasn't an active Fleetwood Mac year. The splintering & fracturing had worsened.

I could remember who played Live Aid that was connected to FM was a then unknown keyboardist named Brett Tuggle who, At that time was playing with Rick Springfield.
