You've had many dreams come true, but if you were granted one wish, what would it be?

Stevie's answer:

If I had one wish, it would be for world peace….

What a laughably generic response! What is this, the Miss America pageant?

Generic, perhaps, but still a nice thought, no?

Maybe I'm being a little crabby tonight, but what else was she supposed to say? "My wish is to make another million dollars" Or, how about, "My wish is to one day eat pasta and bread again."

Of course, I guess if she learns to twirl a baton while it's on fire, she just might be a shoe-in for Miss Middle-Aged America after all. :)

It is a laughable and cliche response, but in times like these (especially after the tragedy of last night, imo of course) it's an appropriate response.

Given our past discussion about how unsatisfying Stevie's Q&A answers are, this one stuck out as a prime example. Sure it's a nice answer, but how about elaborating a bit, being more specific? How about a little personality?

How about a little personality?Even though I agree with the answer and I think it's much better than some things she could've said, I still agree with what you're saying. Elaborating and actually showing that she has a personality would have been nice. My favorite is still the one about "Doing the Best I Can (Escape from Berlin)." Classic.

I swear she doesn't actually write these. This is not something Stevie Nicks would say (word for word) if she was asked if she had considered making a country album: "Yes I have, maybe some day I will!" Someone else writes them- trust me!

Someone else writes them- trust me!I bet she said that. Stevie's been saying that very thing about doing a country album for more than twenty years.

P.S. For "country album," you could also insert your project-to-be of choice, like Rhiannon album, autobiography, children's book, etc. It's always "I will do that some day."

Points to ponder

In reviewing the "ask stevie" history, her responses have usually been brief. Given the amount of questions she receives, and the sorting through of those of questionable content (you know who you are  ), I think we should be thankful she has an open-end forum and responds at all - IMO. She may also choose to respond in brief and take her sweet time due to the picking-apart of the words she decides to respond with.

Who knows?

Given the amount of questions she receives, and the sorting through of those of questionable content (you know who you are  ), Are you referring to me & my question? I asked Stevie/John/Kelly/Karen/Liz/Chris, "What do you do if the intro to your song starts & suddenly you feel your gut screw up with scramps?"

Has anyone read the "Illume" question? Someone asked what Illume means in the song and "Stevie" (I'm still suspicious that she's actually the one answering these things) said that it means still having hope in a bad situation. But here's the thing, isn't "Illume" (apart from being a word with the conotation of illumination) a brand of candle? I saw some at Central Market the other day and I was thinking, hmmm...."Illume, says the candle that I burn" was probably born from Stevie just staring at her Illume candle one night. Am I reading too much (or perhaps too little?) into this?

I didn't read the journals, but this sounds about right for Stevie. She probably was just staring at her candle, and thought "what a great word" and it snowballed from there.

If there is an interest in reading the journal entries, it may provide insight into her A's to the following Q's:

Hello there, Stevie...I was especially moved by track #3 on the new Fleetwood Mac LP, the one dedicated to the people of New York post 9-11. Can you tell me a bit more about the song and your inspiration in writing it? I am a long time fan and think its a brilliant piece of work, as good as anything you have done. Stevie's answer: It’s about 9-11. I was in New York that morning, and then stayed in the city until Thursday night. It’s just about that time.

On your song illume on the Fleetwood Mac album called "Say You Will", what does Illume mean?? Stevie's answer: Still having hope in a very bad situation.

Illume is derived from "illuminate." I can say that "headphone" means orgy, but that doesn't make it so.

I like to imagine the response process as sort of Stevie Nicks Mad Libs.

Think about it. I could ask, "Hey Steves. What's your favorite movie?"

The response would look something like this: "I like ___________ (movie name). It's fabulous!"

Q: "Angel's" really cool, yo. Hit me up with some info about it.
A: ___________ (song name) is a really ___________ (adjective) song. It's one of my favorites.

Q: [life story] So my question is... are you still doing Liddy?
A: _____ (interjection rhyming with 'swell'), __________ (band member's name) is a really __________ (adjective) person. However, ___________________ (vague is-she-or-isnt-she answer).

Try this link...it tells all about it.
http://www.la.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/cgpportal.woa/wa/path?urlpath=%2Fattractions%2Fsightseeing%2Fmagiccastle%2F7132

Originally built as a private home in 1908, the Magic Castle is the headquarters of the Academy of Magical Arts, a club made up of over 5,000 magicians. Part Disney's Haunted Mansion, part Friar's Club and part Vegas showroom, the Magic Castle offers up intimate performances and full-scale magic acts every night of the week.

It may take some doing to get a reservation for dinner--technically you can only go with an invite from a member, but most big hotels can get you in. There's a $15 entrance fee, plus the cost of dinner and drinks. The Palace of Mystery seats about a hundred people, and offers shows at 8:30pm, 10pm and 11:15pm every night. The Parlour of Prestidigitation, with six shows a night, is a much smaller venue that gets you close to the magician. Definitely check out W.C. Fields' trick pool table on the bottom floor, but also save time for the smallest theater, the 22-seat Close-up Gallery.

Since it's an academy, the Magic Castle offers a weekly, six-night class for $295 to adult beginners. Want to bring a little bit of the castle home with you? Pick up something from the gift shop, which you can visit without a reservation.

Unlike the rest of LA, the Magic Castle maintains a strict dress code policy, which means jackets and ties for men and cocktail dresses or pant suits for women. Jeans and sneakers are a big no-no, and don't even think about trying to sweet-talk your way in. You'll be turned away at the door.

"Question 122 - from Shannon Stevens in Portland OR:

Stevie, what was it like having Lindsey's neice on tour with you? We loved reading her tour diaries, she seemed to really adore you, and we were wondering how you felt about her? And will she continue to work for Fleetwood Mac now that the tour is over? Thanks for answering our questions!

Stevie's answer:

I absolutely adore Cory! Since we are no longer touring, she is not working for the Mac right now. But whenever I am on the road, she will always have a job if she wants it!".

I hope Cory will be in Stevie 's crew for the next tour, with her computer and ready to report.
