In Peru, elections are on sundays, from 8am or 9am, to 4pm. Then immediately TV show results still based on surveys. Surveys just made outside election locations.

But at 7 or 8pm aprox, they show partial results from official info. In US, at what time you know who won?

We should start having reports around 7pm Eastern. Do you get CNN?

The networks should have early exit poll results anywhere from 12pm-2pm today. But they've all sworn that they will not reveal the results until the polls close in those states (the earliest close at 7pm Eastern). I'm not watching TV right now but I'd keep an eye on the mood and demeanor of the pundits and see if I could draw any clues from their behavior if I could. Also, one thing to be aware of in early exit poll results is that Democrats typically vote later in the day than Republicans, so the earlier results tend to favor Republicans. They're saying that we're having huge voter turnouts almost everywhere. And they've predicted that a huge turnout favors Kerry. From their mouths to God's ears!

Tucker Carlson just said he didn't think people would stand in line for three hours to vote for more of the same.

I can't stand the SOB. But I was totally shocked that he said that. Do tell about the rape story.

He was at some conference down south and some woman he slept with accused him of raping her. He tried to pay her off, but then, or so the story goes, he had someone produce fake receipts to "prove" he wasn't staying where she said he was.

(Well, not his show exclusively, but you know what I mean). :]

I personally think the media should be prohibited from making any projected result comments or from calling any state for any candidate until all [polls in all states have closed. I think that is unfair because the polls on the East coast close hours before those on the West coast. I also think the same should be applied for the reporting of exit polls. I also think we all should be given a paper receipt of our vote.

But, it, sadly, is not my world!!!

I think so too. Guy at work who voted absentee made photocopy. I used a paper ballot instead of computer, and i got a tear off portion, but, of course, nothing which showed how i voted. But, yeah, I think the media should wait, too....
