Stevie supposedly wrote this song and the Williams Brothers recorded it, but has anyone ever heard it? Whats the story behind this song?
Thanks for any info!

Stevie supposedly wrote this song and the Williams Brothers recorded it, but has anyone ever heard it? Whats the story behind this song?Yeah, she wrote it. It's a pretty intense rocker -- it's no wonder Miss Bland never talks about it. (It's sort of pre-"Damn the Torpedoes" Tom Pettyish.) It's on the Williams Brothers album with "Some Become Strangers" (from '86 or '87, I think). I saw the Williams Bros open for that "Luka" lady many years ago at a theater in Los Angeles. They didn't sing "You Like Me" but they did sing "Strangers."

"You Like Me" is pretty terrific, and the lyrics are brimming with Stevie's 'Rock A Little'-era feistiness.
I've always wondered if there's a demo out there with Stevie on lead vocals. Would be surprised if there isn't... so I guess it either hasn't surfaced yet, or someone isn't sharing.
I don't think Stevie purposely doesn't talk about it, I think it's just one of those songs that has fallen through the cracks, like "Freestyle" or "You're Not The One." Great song that it is, it's not even discussed much within the fan community.
By the way, I thought Christine was "Miss Bland"!
(Just a little joke meant for Homer McVie to enjoy. :sorry: ;) )

I had an MP3 of it at some point, but I lost it somewhere. I remember liking it a lot, though.
Wow, I've never heard of this song! How cool. I don't know about you, but this song screams of Lindsey :)
**********
Lyrics:
Don't read your words into my words
Don't let the weight on your shoulders pull you down
No matter what you heard, dont believe everything that goes around
Oh your rage I see through
You Like Me don't you
You can't hide the feeling
Your lies I see through...
You like me don't you...
Don't read your words into my words
Remember the words...don't do it
Wrote me a letter of hate or of love
Well I could do without it
You stand and accuse me..
and you want to know..who is it?
Well you oughta know who is it
Oh your rage I see through
You like me don't you
No you can't hide the feeling,
Your eyes I see through..you like me don't you
Never say I don't need you to love me
Cause I need you to love me
And as hard as I try...you know you can't hide the feeling..

Woot! I got it downloaded. If anyone else can't get to Johnny's page and is interested, I can email it to you. :)
Now I remember why I liked it. It reminds me of LWTG for some reason.

I have the Williams Bros CDs -- all of them actually. They are/were pretty good. And they were pretty cute in their day. Anyway -- their version of YLM is great. I have it if anyone else needs it...and their version of Some Become Strangers (which they wrote) is very mellow and moody. Worth a lisiten also.

Danielle... Stevie wrote the lyrics and Mike Campbell (from the Heartbreakers) wrote the music. The Twins-Williams simply recorded it. :)

My apologies to everyone receiving that frustrating "website unavailable" notice. Unfortunately, the best advice I can give, is to to keep checking back every hour.
Hopefully everyone will be able to get it eventually. If not, I know that Greg (DeadliestPoison) has generously offered to email it out to people. I'd offer to email it, too, but I'm on dial-up, so it's extremely time-consuming for me to do so.
