I'm sorry, i know i started the last thread about the same topic but i need to vent badly....what the hell is up with this woman's answers?:

Q: Hello there, Stevie...I was especially moved by track #3 on the new Fleetwood Mac LP, the one dedicated to the people of New York post 9-11. Can you tell me a bit more about the song and your inspiration in writing it? I am a long time fan and think its a brilliant piece of work, as good as anything you have done.

Stevie's answer:

It’s about 9-11. I was in New York that morning, and then stayed in the city until Thursday night. It’s just about that time.

Gee Stevie don't hold back or anything. I'm not wasting my time trying to come up with a superb question only to have it shot down in four or five words.

SHEEEEEESH!

someone bring this woman a bottle of brandy. she used to say (in the days)
that she would LOVE to talk to "you"...i remember her saying that she felt at the end of one of her shows she would like to have a podium and take questions.

i want the babbling stevie back.

Isn't it strange? In interviews she usually is much more open. Why in your opinion she's keeping her Q&A on this cold tone?

I'm sure it's strange for her to answer these questions. She likes to get to know people and talk to them. The babbling Stevie is still with us. :o

She hasn't been like that for quite some time now. I first noticed it around TISL.

I don't know. I don't really care because she doesn't seem like that in real life. For example, my Grandpa does email but gets straight to the point and doesn't waste time with details in his messages. I think this is because he isn't comfortable with a computer. The same could apply to Stevie.

Also, I am sure she has thousands of messages and couldn't write more then a sentence or two for each. Although, if I were her I would just reply to a few with some meaningful sentences even if she didn't get to answer that many of them.

so there goes that theory... :)Yeah, not only does everyone have to wait months and months for answers, she gives answers that any of us could've come up with on our own. And you know she must get lots of interesting questions, but she chooses to answer lots of boring ones. And one could find answers to some of those questions by going through magazine articles or just asking someone else on a message board. I'm sure lots of people have asked her strange questions no one has ever asked before, but of course she wouldn't answer those.

We've all wondered about it for years. I'd rather hear Stevie tell me what it is she's saying in "Seven Wonders" than answer some fool's boring question about what it's like to sing love songs to an ex-boyfriend.

No, seriously. She got off to a very bad start six or eight years ago with her online fanbase, believing all the **** her friends & employees were feeding her about how cruel & dangerous we all were on the Internet.

She has got a bit better in recent years (the decision to go official with Nicks Fix was strictly a marketing ploy), but nonetheless still is wary of the Web fanbase. The combination of fear & loathing possibly prevents her from wanting to open up much online. JMO.

I submit that it is "nevah" because
A) it sounds like it and,
B) nevah is a word used througout the song, unlike the other choices

Point taken. I don't know what she's saying in "Seven Wonders..." No matter how high I turn up the volume, it's never clear. "Never" seems like the natural choice..."Sara" and "Tara" make some sense. I always thought "era" because it sounds cool to me. Now that I think about it, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

Anyway... about the Q&A's.
I've always assumed that Stevie is given the questions, she jots down a few simple notes/answers, and then an assistant types them up and sends them to Mr. Kinney.

Quite honestly, it doesn't bother me much. I think it's a nice gesture.
Sure, she could be a LOT more involved in the process, but, then, she could also do absolutely nothing.
In fact, I believe Stevie was the first of the 'Rumours'-era Maccers to answer fans' questions online (not including those two AOL chat-sessions with Mick and Christine), and, even though the answers are slow in coming, she's the only one who's done so on a continuing basis... not just a "limited-time offer" kind of thing.

Don't get me wrong... I'm right there with everyone who wishes Stevie would be more "chatty" in her answers, and that she'd answer a larger number of the more-interesting questions. But I still think it's cool that she's doing it at all. :)

I think so too - I think she delegates this in the sense that she answers it and someone else edits/types it.

I mean look at the 9/11 journal stuff, which was so much more comprehensive and downright loquacious  I think she clearly took a more hands on approach there.

Of course, this is all just my opinion!!!!!

Maybe someone should ask her in the Q and A "Why aren't you more specific in your answers because we want DETAILS woman and this "yes no" tripe ain't gonna cut it"

Also, I am sure she has thousands of messages and couldn't write more then a sentence or two for each.

That excuse doesn't wash. She only answers two or three of those stupid questions every once in a blue moon, surely she can take the time to write out a thoughtful response once in awhile instead of a simple sentence that goes nowhere. She doesn't get fanmail anymore, either, so I can't imagine she's replying to much of anyhting but those questions these days.

Yes, actually, I did. I contracted Rasmussen.

How could they send her a letter? She has no fan mail address.

Again, the topic at hand is her ridiculously miniscule responses to the "Ask Stevie" questions. If you're argument is that she doesn't write good answers because she's too busy writing notes every six months for the Nicks Fix or because she's replying to birthday wishes, it makes no sense.

Didn't I read someplace that she's writes things ALL THE TIME..... so I think she would be more likely to write something more complete. I still think she has staffers do it. Why the mac'ers don't take a hands on approach and know what is going on still astounds me. That's why even though I don't listen to alot of country music, I still have to give "high cuddos" for the way they treat their fans. Hands down the best of any entertainment area. (Fanfest, charity softball games......ETC.)

Yes, that was the topic at hand until you said "She doesn't get fanmail anymore, either, so I can't imagine she's replying to much of anyhting but those questions these days." I then replied that she said she got the birthday wishes, which I equate with fan mail - so she must be getting something  And - I know people who have received notes from her in response to things they have sent. So, I base my conclusions on that. If you know differently - so be it.

As for her terse answers - I, like many, always want more, but am happy to have anything, etc.

Oh don't bother with managment addresses, they don't always forward them. I think all this can be summed up in a very simple way. Look at the Wynnco site and look under Stevie stuff. There you will see a FAN letter given to Stevie that ended up with a past drummer........and its for sale. So, if it was REALLY important, how did it end up with another band member and now for sale? The person probally put alot of heart felt things in there and it ends up - basically - in the bargain bin for sale. Just another piece of stuff to add to the collection. Glad she appreciated it so much. (Sorry it's not mine, and no...I don't know who it is...but I would be pisssed if my letter was treated so poorly, Okay Stevie, don't answer...even trash it.....but to pass it on just to be sold? eh.......)

Who's to say Stevie didn't read it and/or reply to it?
Perhaps it was given to Bobbye Hall (her percussionist) for a specific reason... something in particular that Stevie had felt Bobbye should read.

What Bobbye did with it from there, is out of Stevie's control.

It's certainly a possibility, at least.

Somehow I have the feeling that if 47 people all piped up within the next 12 minutes saying they had received responses, you'd still be doubtful. ;) :xoxo:

For what it's worth, I've received a response, and I have friends who've received responses, too.

I doubt she responds to every piece of fan-mail she receives though. In fact, I'm sure she doesn't. But if you send it through the proper channels, your chances of it being read and responded to are far greater.
But send it to her home address, and it'll most definitely be sent back.

It's ok, I will be vindicated, i sweah.

I have little interest in what exactly Stevie is saying in "SW". I will bet, however, that she hasn't the foggiest, Klonopin hazed idea what the hell she sang in that recording session.

Yes, and it's my biggest fear that i will never find out the answer. Because, i've gotten a bajillion stevie lyrics wrong, and not cared, and to this day don't care much. But I actually think I am right on THIS occasion. It's like a supernatural lyrics moment for me... :wavey:

Also, I am sure she has thousands of messages and couldn't write more then a sentence or two for each. Although, if I were her I would just reply to a few with some meaningful sentences even if she didn't get to answer that many of them.

I agree...I like to think that would be my preference too. Among other ideas that have been presented, I imagine Stevie's thinking that she wants to get to everyone and make them feel special. Maybe she's not realizing so much that more in depth answers would make us all feel special, even when it's someone else's question.

actually, it should be more like "drunk, cocained idea what the hell she was saying." you gotta remember she recorded her songs for TITN while she was on the RAL tour.

sorry, didn't mean for the above to sound snobbish! :)

Just to throw yet another option into the SW lyric debate, I always thought she was singing, "Aaron," a nod to her granddad who taught her to sing.

Listen again and see what you think.

The difficulty is once you have convinced yourself of a particular lyric, it is hard to not hear that lyric as you listen to the line.

That can't be true. If that were the case then how was WTTR...S written? This song is obviously about rehab. I have always heard that she came in for like two weeks and did her songs but I thought this was after rehab, can someone clear this up for me?

Are you sure about that? I was always under the impression they recorded that album after Stevie got out of rehab, after the Rock A Little tour.

I'm possitive the album was recorded after she got out of rehab... how else would you get a song like "Welcome To The Room Sara"? Clearly written about being pretty much forced by "Frontline Managment to go into rehab - and her not being happy about it and firing them.

"Front Line baby... When you walk out that door... well you cease to exist"

well i remember very well that in an interview either she or someone in the band commented on how she was doing vocal tracks while she was still on her solo tour. she may even have said it when i saw her in concert that year as she did mention that FM was working on a new album. yes, i distinctly remember hearing that they would send her stuff while she was on the road and she would check into a local studio and put vocals down.

it is very possible and most likely that she did do some recording after the tour was over. but we don't know what tracks these were.

listen to something like the boot of "juliet" and it's VERY obvious that she's in her RAL mode.

She didn't record that much to begin with, so she could have done a little here & a little there throughout the year because certainly the rest of the band was recording that whole year. Lindsey mentioned how great the music was at the Tough On Toxics benefit in late August 1986.
