View Full Version : Stevie's new album
I wonder how long we'll have to wait for Stevie's new abum?
Hope it's not too long
This might seem like an inane post but just felt like i should post, because of the lack of posts from Stevie fans.
I think that all major Stevie fans should get off their arses and post a couple of messages!! (i know that i am one of the guilty, lazy fans who doesn't post that often - but i always read whatever anyone else has to say, so come on Stevie fans get typing!!!)

Well, your title got me to read your post! I thought you had info about a new album! :p
I agree...hopefully we'll hear something about a new album soon, even if it's just news that she's in the studio.

Hopefully not too long- I love that weathered, whiskey, raspy, nasally voice! I am adicted to Stevie's vocals as of late. Ever since TISL her vocals have been really really cool and her songs have been great. I thought TISL was great and then SYW came out and I was blown away. With vocals like the ones on Smile at You and Everybody Finds Out how can you not love Stevie?
Anyways, I hope she marches herself into the Studio ASAP and make a double album and then tours her butt of (with lots and lots of tourdates in the Florida area!)

I thought "Trouble In Shangri-La" was the most varied of Stevie's albums...Her vocals were wickeder and more passionate than they have been in years. So, I'm waiting with bated breath for ANY news regarding a new album. There are sure to be many worthy unreleased songs in her archives in addition to new material she's written.
...And the "Smile At You" performance was a knock-out.

I'm sure she'll be in the studio soon, but that means next to nothing. It's all about how long it takes to make the freakin' thing. Street Angel took three years and TISL took six.

Bue she also said in interviews that she purposefully put TISL on hold for The Dance and then the Enchanted tour - so . . . In fact, she even went into that when TISL was released when she said although it has taken six years, the actual time worked on the record was something like a year because she kept putting it on hold, etc. :woohoo:

That's all fine and dandy, but three years is not "soon." :woohoo:
It's nice that she's going back to the studio, but do any of you really think we'll get anything within a year or two? Hell no. Three years at least. And you can quote me on that.

I know, unfortunately.
But I've got my fingers crossed for a Lindsey one soon.
Hopefully, because she doesn't have any more FMac commitments (or at least not that i know of anyway!), she will go straight into the studio, get the work done - find some exciting producers and collaborators to work with (Rufus Wainwright) and get the thing released pretty quickly. I have always thought Stevie should record a country-ish album (which would follow in the footsteps of Bella Donna)
Incidentally, i just heard the new Chris Isaac duet and Stevie's voice sounds very good on it (though the song is mundane as most Christmas records are!)
I also thought Stevie's voice was in amazing form on the tour, so she should capitalise on this and get stuff recorded.
I vote for She loves him still to be on the next record!!

Back when Stevie first started her solo career she wanted to work with cool people like Jimmy Iovine and Tom Petty, these days she seems content to work with people like the Dixie Chicks (bleh!), which makes me very sad indeed, so I can't imagine her wanting to work with Rufus, as much as I'd love that.
I'd also love it if she did a countryish record but I'd want her to work with people like Ryan Adams or Rick Rubin (let's face it she ain't gonna be working with Ethan Johns, despite recording one of his songs, unless he hates his dad!), rather than John Shanks (sorry folks I don't rate him despite loving TISL!)
Hmmm, but I guess the Dixies are marginally better than the likes of Kenny G and Bruce Hornsby.
There is one thing I like about Bruce Hornsby though....
... his Range ;)
Cool is subjective, but all of those people she has worked with in the past were popular, which is probably why she worked with them I guess. For the record, I LOVED the Kenny G stuff

I totally agree about Ryan Adams (I''m sure he would be would be amazed about working with Stevie! and Rick Rubin is an interestesting choice - but, i know he seems to push and challenge people - which is what i think Stevie needs, and is capable of producing!)
Stevie neds to stop choosing the safe Rock producers (like John Shanks/Sheryl -even though i think they did a good job on TISL!)
I think her voice is so great that she could meet these challenges and produce some really amazing stuff,
Just to mention, though, Ryan adams is another performer who is largely influnced by Country music, so that is a thing they have in common!! (As well as the Whiskytown version of Dreams, of course!!)

I don't think it'll take Stevie years to finish and release her next album.
'Street Angel' and 'Shangri-La' had somewhat unusual circumstances behind their delays, but all previous solo albums were released in a pretty timely fashion (especially when Mac albums and tours are taken into consideration).
Even the 3.5 year gap between 'Rock A Little' and 'Mirror' was due to the 'RAL' tour, which was spread out over the better part of seven months, the Betty Ford stint, the promotion of 'Tango' and the world tour that followed (which was spread out over 1987 and 1988), and then the promotion of 'Greatest Hits.'
So when you figure that the gaps (how ever long they may be) between Stevie's releases are historically filled by a tour for the previous solo album, the recording of a Mac album, a tour for said Mac album, and then of course more solo recording, the length of time is really to be expected.
I don't think it's going to be an extremely long wait between now and the release of Stevie's next album.
My previous prediction of late 1st-quarter/early 2nd-quarter 2005, is definitely being optimistic. But I'd be surprised if the next album isn't in our hands by the end of next year.

When I, a 16-year-old, went to the show in San Jose in June I thought "I'm going to be one of the FEW people there under 25." Much to my surprise, there were LOTS of younger people there, rocking out! :]
yep! all these youngins in the front row with me!!! Did you have good seats?
That show was awesome, I only thought i would be front row at concord, but someone "arranged" front row for me in San Jose, and also, that was the day before my 30th b-day, so it was like an extra special treat... :p

Hell yeah I had good seats! About 60 feet from the stage, Stevie's side. I was seated behind her family, so when she shook her tambourine at them and looked at them lovingly it was like she was looking right at me! I don't know for sure which family members they were, but I think one of them was her brother (is he the guy standing next to her in the enchanted booklet in the b&w photo next to the one of Don Henley?) There was also a young girl, about 15 or 16, with dark hair who told us they were her family. And a woman with dark blond hair was in front of us, too.
I thought it was great; I cried during "Sara." Were you dressed up like Stevie, or no?
I'm glad the show was an extra treat for you!

Wow, that's really cool, i didn't realize her family was there. And i'm sure it was a bit of an extra treat for you, if your b-day is July 8th! Yay, Cancer treats!!! Well, I wasn't really "dressed up" like Stevie, but my favorite outfit, which i wore, is kind of a stevie outfit, think Stop Draggin My... I had on a tight cotton crossback thin strap low v-cut tank top(black), and a flowing, but clingy around my hips skirt...a thin rayon one, that is asymetrically cut at the bottom, so it goes just below and just above my knees(black and ballet shaped) ...yeah, it was a Stevie outfit, but a subtle one...and really cute on me - it's my fav. summer outfit... :D Which just luckily happened to be Stevie-esque. But did you see how some of the people were decked out? with the hat, and the big layers (I hate big layers, they just chub me out).

I'm a boy, and I didn't dress up like Stevie or Lindsey or anyone. BUT in the future? I have my eye on a Fleetwood Mac belt buckle from the '70s, am going to get a pair of bellbottoms from a place in Pasadena among other stuff. I'm white, about 5'7", brown hair, blue eyes, pale skin...Guess I'd be most like Lindsey...

I'm glad you think being a Cancer is awesome - I don't love it, but i can say this, if you're in theater, you're probably good. I was good, but that's beside the point. Being Mick would be awesome, I'd just be mini-Mick, about a foot shorter than the real thing. I could grow my hair semilong!I remember thinking your hair reminded me of Princess Leia! And, about the Cancer thing, I was in theater for three years and I loved it and people told me I was good. I've been told I have expressive eyes...The astrology thing has more merit than I thought.
"Beautiful Child." One of the most beautiful songs ever written. My eyes watered. Great, great, performance.
And...Don't get your hopes up; I'm not "cute." I have a long nose and a low forehead in my awkward years. I think you looked good, but I can't remember much about the June show.
I WISH I WERE AROUND FOR THE EARLIER MAC! I wish I had seen the Danny Kirwan/Bob Welch era Mac...The Rhiannon "exorcisms" later...The Tusk tour...And so much more... But the renaissance over the past 3 years has been fantastic. Yeah, I guess you could say I'm a big fan.

Right On!!!! That's cool you like Danny Kirwan/Bob Welch. I haven't gotten into that, for you see, it was Stevie I first fell in love with (without knowing anything about her or the band - I've always had a thing for throaty voices)

Sweeeeet...I bought it from this girl, for $18 ($3 for shipping, $15 for video) and she makes DVD's, she was actually shocked that i wanted a video (I just got my first computer Sept. 24, so now i can watch DVD's) I can give you her email address, but i don't know what her schedule is like or whatever. Also, the original video that she "advertised" wasn't supposed to have 53 on it, she put extra cause she had extra tape. But you may be able to request stuff. But i also have to tell you, some ledgies said it was "bad" that i paid for this, and that i should be able to get most of them for free by trading...I didn't have anything to trade, so I thought it was a great deal. But, lots of people on here have trade sites (Estranged4Life, Paula (Skinc - wait, that's not right, but she has a weird "C" in her name, and various other people) so, PM me if you want her address, or just say it in this thread and i'll PM it to you. I mean, i think it was worth it, but many ledgies were "outraged"
to me, it was more convenient at the time to just send money, then get a tape back.
Way to go, never dropping a line. I actually had a terrible "dramatic" experience in 8th grade where, for some reason, i didn't memorize any of my lines (young and arrogant?) and it was very humiliating... :D

Thanks...Although I'd do just about anything for Gypsy or Stand Back videos, I don't know if I'd order the video or not. I'll have to really think it through. (Besides, I spent all my $$ on Sunday buying "In The Meantime," a near-mint vinyl copy of "Buckingham Nicks," "Kiln House," and John McVie's solo album. ) I'll be sure to look into the trading stuff as well.
I was "Gollum" in the my 8th grade production of The Hobbit. I ended up stealing the show, very appropriate seeing as Gollum loves stealing. XD.

XD.
I'm going to bed now; I get to take the PSAT tomorrow! Fun!
It's been very nice talking to you, Amber! Good night!
Goodnight! Gollum? you're obviously a genius. So, yeah, 53 videos...let me know, otherwise, i hope you can trade them...sounds like you have some serious stuff to trade with, anyways! good luck on the PSAT! I scored 97th percentile verbal, 82nd math... :( Nice talking to you as well - I had to rollerblade up to the store real quick...
