On the stevienicks.info site, there is an mp3 of Nora O'Connor's cover of "That's Alright." Has anyone heard this? Or heard of Nora O'Connor? I didn't know who she was, but I've been doing a bit of looking around on the web about her. I really like this song, and I'm thrilled that she did a cover of it.
I like it! Of course, it helps that I love that song. :)

And here is the bio from her record label's website. Apparently, she's been a popular country/rock/folk attraction in Chicago for quite some time.

I hope her version of That's alright (which I like) will become a hit, so maybe Stevie would give a thought to sing it again.

I would really love to see a more well known country star do that song...like I don't know...maybe Sara Evans? Anyone have any ideas? But not someone like the Dixie Chicks. I cannot even listen to their version of Landslide. It just ruins the whole song for me.

Well, given my aversion to mainstream country artists, I would rather not have any of them touch any of Stevie's songs. :)

I liked it. I don't know who Nora O"Connor is. Since this is the song that cemented my FM/Stevie fanaticism, nothing will ever be quite as good as the Mirage version.

I liked it too, it is a nice version. It lacks the depth of passion of Stevie's vocal though (of course).

The first version of this I heard was the Buckingham Nicks demo (titled "Designs of Love"). The song has been around awhile, apparently. I thought the Mirage version wasn't quite as good as that one.

I think they are SOOOOOO different. Stevie's voice was radiant on the Mirage version, but the BN version is perhaps a little better because to me she sounds so young and innocent as opposed to the Mirage years

This just goes to show you how truly underrated Stevie Nicks is as an artist of singular talent- in her songwriting, singing and her ability to convey emotion.
There are many in the past (and even today) who write off Stevie as some witchy, mystic space cadet. This performance of "That's Alright" glaringly shows not how mediocre Nora O'Connor is, but how fantastic Stevie Nicks is.
I have always loved this song, and thought it quite underrated by the public at large. Stevie's vocal performance from the Mirage version is absolutely spine-tingling!
I don't have the exact quote, but one of my favorites of Stevie's was when it was pointed out to her by Mick Fleetwood during the gearing up for the recording of Mirage that "That's Alright" was such a great song and he couldn't imagine how he had forgotten about it. Stevie's response was, "Well, I didn't forget about it!"
She is an unbelivable songwriter and one of the best vocalists ever, in my opinion. No Bob Dylan, my ass.....

She is an unbelievable songwriter. I'm excited when I hear other artists cover her songs, because it shows that more people are recognizing what a great songwriter she is.

ok, but she really isn't a Bob D. I think she's great, but Bob d. is really the pentultimate. His contain social commentary, and millions of layers. And yes, I think Stevie IS an underrated songwriter, but I still think she's no Bobby D. I mean, that guy is extra....

Well, I heard the Mirage version in 1982, when I was living in Vail (i.e. middle of nowhere). :o I didn't hear the B/N version until about 20 years later. Between that and MTV (you could only get television in the mountains if you had cable) playing Sara, Tusk and Gypsy 24/7, I was hooked. Her voice on it was just glorious, with a nice country twang, although not as country as the B/N version.
