View Full Version : Do you think there will be an October Surprise?

The three most common theories I have heard are: 1) Osama Bin Laden is captured 2) Cheney feigns illness and is replaced by Giuliani or 3) a red level terror alert halts the election.

Frankly, I don't see any of these happening. I can't believe that any swing voters would be swayed by this. But I suppose never say never.

I haven't heard this but I wouldn't be surprised-gas prices fall to somewhere near reasonable and Bushie takes credit...

The smell of desperation is in the air. And these bastards will say anything and do anything to remain in office--no matter what it takes. Be afraid-be very afraid. But having said that, I think that the K/E camp pulled their own October surprise on Sept. 30th when JFK kicked Shrubby's ass in the debate!

Osama, right around Halloween. I theorized that Cheney would be taken off the ticket, but it's too late for that now.

Never say never about replacing Cheney. Notice that they trotted out Rudy to act as a surrogate and master spinner for BushCo on Thursday night after the Debate Debacle.

Yes. Rove has flat out said so.

That's going to happen. Bush has ordered our emergency reserves be tapped into just in time for the election.

Yeah - I have a hard time believing that Bush & co. will *let* him lose...there's been so much speculation about the Osama thing - I think that may be unlikely as there's been so much talk about it - it would not look so good - but then again...they'll try anything....I'm very interesting to see what transpires in this month leading up to the election...

Karl Rove said last week that they don't have one, they have TWO October surprsies in store. Don't count your chickens, my dear.

Wouldn't that be counterproductive to announce your October surprise(s)?

Oh, well. I don't care who wins; I just can't wait for this to be over with.

One, Osama pulled out of the closet he has been locked in. Dead or alive. Two, gas prices fall. Three, some awful dirt they dug up on Kerry trotted out.

How could Osama being captured for ANY reason be a BAD thing. Or gas prices going down, be a BAD thing. I can't believe you guys are dreading these things when in fact they would be amazing.

Catching him would be great. I don't doubt they did catch him and are holding onto him until he can be trotted out to save the election for Bush. As far as gas prices go, I would like for them to go down for good, no just artificially for 2 weeks before the election...for again, political effect.

What about a Democratic surprise? I saw a picture of Bush in Rolling Stone in his frat boy days, dangling over a stair rail, chugging a bottle of booze. There HAVE to be pictures, home movies, etc. of his exploits. Possibly with Kitty Kelly stirring up all the muck, they may finally surface.

How great would it be to see him hunched over a huge pile of blow, straw in hand, dazed and confused a la Patsy from AbFab?

You think Karl Rove is capable of being counterproductive?

I never stated that specifically capturing Osama would be a bad thing in itself - what i was trying to get across is that there's been so much talk about the Bush camp using it as an election tipper that it wouln't look as good in the eyes of many if he were to be captured like a week before the election........

Gas prices - also didn't say them falling would be a bad thing - but when used in the way that they are using these things - that's not good - they'll just go right back up again and then continue to climb...I dont care what little bone Bush throws my way....I know he still could give a rats ass about the majority of American people.

 I just paid $2.05 for unleaded tonight. I know it's that high in other states all the time, but that's almost unheard of here. Just this afternoon it was around $1.80, now all of a sudden it's up $.25????

Sure-he'll let the prices go up and then it looks even better when they fall-sorry to be so cynical but Bush brings that out in me. If he had no connections to the oil world I wouldn't be saying anything...
