FOX PULLS ITEMS WITH FAKE KERRY QUOTES :

WASHINGTON (Oct. 1) - Fox News apologized Friday for posting phony quotes from Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on its Web site.

Carl Cameron, a Fox reporter who covers the Kerry campaign, wrote an item that looked like a news story with made-up Kerry quotes, said Paul Schur, a Fox spokesman. The item was not intended to be posted on the site.

"Carl made a stupid mistake which he regrets," Schur said Friday night. "And he has been reprimanded for his lapse in judgment. It was a poor attempt at humor."

The phony item posted early Friday read in part:

"Rallying supporters in Tampa Friday Kerry played up his performance in Thursday night's debate in which many observers agreed the Massachusetts senator outperformed the president.

"'Didn't my nails and cuticles look great? What a good debate!' Kerry said Friday.

"With the foreign-policy debate in the history books, Kerry hopes to keep the pressure on and the sense of traction going.

"Aides say he will step up attacks on the president in the next few days, and pivot somewhat to the domestic agenda, with a focus on women and abortion rights.

"'It's about the Supreme Court. Women should like me! I do manicures,' Kerry said."

The item also quoted Kerry as saying of himself and President Bush: "I'm metrosexual - he's a cowboy."

After withdrawing the item, Fox posted a statement on its Web site, http://www.FOXNews.com apologizing for the error. It said: "The item was based on a reporter's partial script that had been written in jest and should not have been posted or broadcast. We regret the error, which occurred because of fatigue and bad judgment, not malice."

Cameron has been a political reporter for Fox News since 1996, Schur said.

Asked about the incident, Kerry spokesman David Wade said: "America would be stronger if only George Bush could admit his mistakes as easily."

"It was a poor attempt at humor."

That's for sure!
It's not that it was particularly rude or malicious, it was just plain unfunny.

The most humorous thing this guy could come up with was, "Women should like me! I do manicures"??
Mmm-kay.
I guess we know that Carl Cameron will never be the Last Comic Standing (well, unless he shoots Pauly Shore, of course).

David Wade got a great dig in though.

Well, with his "humor", he could easily win Last Comic Standing. Those contestants SUCK!

I think Faux is mad because of an "assumed-named" emailer whose email was read at the end of the O'Reilly Factor recently, I cannot believe the Faux staff did not catch the frikkin' funny name when it was first seen:

Jack Mehoffer

It'll be interesting to see what CBS news has to say about this. But then again, FoxNews is above reproach, right?

Update: They've now got a story up claiming that a group called "Communists for Kerry" has endorsed John Kerry. And oh yeah, they also photoshopped one of the debate photos to make Shrubbie look taller.

Omigod, that's so lame. You'd think (or, perhaps you wouldn't) that they could come up with something better...is the American populace really that...uh...(don't want to offend...)
Well, lets just say I'm constantly amazed at what people believe and think and are influenced by.. etc. "confuse me?"

And they bitch about Carville? After the footage of Cameron kissing Bush's ass and talking about how wonderful he is and how proud he is of his wife for participating in Shrub's campaign, now this **** gets posted. What utter ****.

And Novak broke his hip. Not to dance a jig, but at least we won't have to suffer through him for a few weeks!

Bad news about Novak--apparently he's still able to write. But hopefully this will keep him off the air until after the election. I just hope his buddy Rush doesn't loan him some of his painkillers.
