OMG this one's my favorite so far.
First of all I'd like to say that I think you are and have been the best bass player in rock music since the beginning of your career. My question is (and I'm sure this is on the minds of many Mac fans),what does the future hold for Fleetwood Mac in terms of touring and music being released? Thanks for taking the time to do this!!!It is greatly appreciated! (Iggy Hernandez, Miami, Florida, U.S.A.)
Hi Iggy,
Thanks for the question and the compliment. I can't say I agree with you but thanks anyway!
As to us lot touring and recording again. Well, as usual it's "up in the air". Literally. We were talking about it on the plane on the way home from the last leg of the tour a couple of weeks ago. Everyone seemed to think it's a "good idea" and "maybe next year". So who knows? It's a typical Mac thing. We seem to stumble along with no set plan and so far it seems to have worked out O.K.
I'd like to think we'd be out again. We haven't even done the mandatory "Farewell Tour. Part #1" yet!
All the Best!

I'm stupid, so I paid him a compliment, then asked if he was still a repub. I loved his answers, he is friendly and FUNNY and self depracating. and he didn't seem to give "pat" answers like some others i read, like he really told a nice little story with a joke for his answers...*sigh* I love john.... :p

I will combine them for you if they end up in the 'out' pile, since they are fairly short.
Haven't heard from him since yesterday AM, hope his internet access wasn't affected by the earthquake! As soon as we get new replies they'll be posted ASAP. He said it might be sporadic. glad to see her answered my Kerry question :
Hello Mr. McVie,
Thanks so much for taking our questions. First off I just wanna say you are the backbone of Fleetwood Mac, and your bass playing is the best in rock music. I hope I can meet you someday. My question though, is kind of not music-related though. Lindsey Buckingham has referred to you in interviews as a "staunch republican," so my question has two parts. First off are you now an official US Citizen and eligible to vote here? Secondly, a fan who got the backstage tour from the Fan Club on this tour, said your tour road case had a JOHN KERRY for PRESIDENT sticker on the side. Is that true, and are you a US Citizen, and if it is true was it put there as a joke of some sort? Thanks! (Chris McLeod, Locust Grove, Georgia, U.S.A.)
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the questions. I've been a citizen since 1986. I think I still have "dual citizenship" with the U.K. but I figure I'll be here for awhile.
"They" put the "Kerry" sticker on my case for a joke. It's not there anymore!!
Thanks again! McVie

One can be socially liberal but politically conservative. Down here in the South I'm drowning in a sea of rebublicans... but some are very cool! All of my "fag hags" and even my parents are repubs. But they all love gay folks, love my boyfriend, and feel we should have equal rights and protections legally as straight folks. But for issues that are more defining to them they are republican. For my girl friends it's abortion. I'm as anti-abortion as you can imagine, but that issue alone cannot make me forgive the republican party of it's other stances on other issues. For my parents it's the defense issue. Way before 9/11 they felt Clinton was too soft on defense, and wasn't being proactive with some of the situations of the day regarding defense. So to them that was their defining issue. We all just have to keep reminding ourselves that just because someone is a republican doesn't mean that they support all of the current president's policies. None of us democrats can say we totally 100% agree with every policy our party stands for either. I personally couldn't have given a damn about politics until Dubya came along and attacked Iraq... then went on a spiraling path downward from there (Patriot Act, deficit, Marriage amendment, etc). And I think once he's out of office the country will cease being this divided. But this is the wrong forum for this... so I'll stop my rant
I too have been enjoying John's Q&A. I just wish he'd answer more questions.. and faster :distress: . He can't be THAT busy nowadays  .

LouieLouie, I agree w/ all the stuff you wrote above re: 'politics', well said.
Just wanted to add that although the time to submit ?'s ends on the 10th, I did tell him that does not mean HE has to be done by then. I am hoping that he'll keep at it for awhile after that, however sporadically...we have gotten almost 200 questions in (I think he broke the record for # submitted in so few days) --but so far I have pulled about 30 that I would like to still send to him, and I'm sure a few more will come in within the next few days that will be added to that. I am trying to get ones that range through all the eras; there's a lot to cover in a 40 yr career. Frankly if it takes him 6 mos to do those 30 it would still be well worth the wait, IMO.
Obviously I cannot apply any pressure here. Whatever he wants to answer, however long he wants to do it for, is A-OK with me, end of story!

Sorry for the delay w/ getting some answers up.... We are having an issue w/ messages (his answers) getting lost in cyberspace somewhere. Needless to say this royally sucks. We thought we had things sorted out regarding the ones we had lost-- John was a really good sport and re-wrote a bunch of answers-- and still, 7 of them never got to me.
Some higher power is having some very cruel fun at my expense.
Anyway 2 answers that did come in were posted today, hopefully more will be in shortly...but that's the deal. I have a new system now: I'm only sending out 2 at a time instead of the larger batches. If i don't get 2 answers back in a timely manner, he's gonna hear from me. :p

Thank you for doing the Q&A, Lis! It's been wonderful reading all the questions and answers. This one puzzled me:
Hi John,
. . . secondly, if you could play ONE Lindsey Buckingham song from any of his solo albums as part of a Fleetwood Mac concert, what would you choose?
Thanks so much, rock on! (Seteca, London, , United Kingdom)
Hi Seteca,
Thanks for the questions, . . .
I never got a copy of Lindsey's Solo albums so I can't pick a track. Any of his stuff is fine by me! Thanks again! McVie
I guess it's some sort of band etiquitte to give out free copies to your friends, and somehow John was missed. If a friend of mine made an album and I didn't get a copy, I'd buy it. Weird that John didn't seek them out. It's hard to know what to make of that comment, but it's odd. :sorry:

I dunno, I can't see Lindsey giving out copies of what was to have been his solo album..I mean we here all have 'bootleg' copies of it  but I guess the other band members may not have had a chance to really hear it. John pretty much said the same thing about how Chris gave him a copy of what she was working on, but he never actually 'got' her new album once it was released. Weird in a way but....whatever works for them...
I was so relieved when those 2 answers came in this AM, phew, I can breathe again. I think things will go smoothly now regarding e-mails not getting 'lost'. That was an unpleasant realization, to say the least! It struck terror in my heart LOL.

Hey Lis,:wavey:
I think you misunderstood John's reply - he said (in effect) that he never got a copy of "Law & Order", "Go Insane" or "Out Of The Cradle". He said "I never got a copy of Lindsey's solo albumS".
If Lindsey didn't give anyone a copy of "Gift Of Screws", that's completely understandable, but for John not to have any of Lindsey's 3 official solo albums.....that is (at least in my opinion) absolutely bizarre. Definitely not normal!!
When I asked him the question, I didn't for a second think that he'd give me such an interesting answer!;)
