I live behind the Shrine, and while award shows are usually a pain in the neck for us (crowds, detours, limos swiping your parking spaces), I decided to take a walk over since Alan Rickman ( :xoxo: ) was nominated. Someone on the production staff was kind enough to give me a lanyard & wristband and invite me in to stand along the red carpet. I really only went for Alan, but it was pretty fun to observe. Took a few photos if anyone is interested: http://photobucket.com/albums/v255/sayyouwill/EMMYS/.

Teaser:
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/sayyouwill/EMMYS/sharon.jpg">

The most "fan friendly" arrivals were Star Jones, Ellen Degeneres, and Jon Stewart. By far the biggest fanfare was for Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt. I applaud them all for their patience with the box of red carpet photographers... talk about rude.

GREAT PICS !

I went down and checked out the set earlier in the week. I had never been in the Shrine - what a stunning theatre.

As far as the show goes....Shandling's makeover segment didn't turn out to be that funny. The only parts of his face that move are his lips, lower jaw, and eyelids. Frozen botox mug himself.

So far Edie Falco looks great. And so glad Imperioli won.

Great pics, Tiff! I love Alan Rickman, too; so glad you got several shots of him!

I thought Sharon Stone looked tooooo skinny. Is it just me or was she always *that* thin?

Wow, these are amazing! I didn't know Patrick Stewart was there- didn't he just have heart surgery? I'm surprised he's well enough to be there. And, umm, what was Star Jones thinking wearing that dress?!?! eeeeeek.

I like this one because Kiefer's in it!!! with James Spader in the corner. Nice. I have a big secret crush on James Spader.

Thanks for posting these! They're so cool!

Good for you Tiff! Great pics! Certainly does look like a feeding frenzy for Jen and Brad!

Meryl S. looked GREAT and SHE WON - but - were those love beads?

I though her outfit was horrid! A blanket w/ a curtain tied around her waist! Bruce and I were calling each other throughout the show - he said, "She must not have any gay friends." LOL

Kudos for all the Angels in America awards - and the Sopranos!

I guess I was just thinking that it was yet another BADGLEY MISCHKA design for her. I think her figure has widened and that is why she wore that. I did like it though - it reminded me of the 50's style, which I love.

Did he really? I didn't know that. I'm glad he seems to be doing well. Love him... he always looks so classy. Yes, Star's dress was not a very good choice for her. Wasn't she the fashion consultant too? Heh.

I want to know how she mustered the nerve to wear a chinchilla wrap. I was ready to throw red paint on my television screen. What an ass.

She's going to be on Nip/Tuck the first week of October with Alec Baldwin.

I'll never forget when she was on the red carpet a couple years ago bitching about Brian Dennehy's gas. She thought they were at commercial and an assistant asked where they should go next and she said something like "Anywhere but near Brian Dennehy, he must've eaten Mexican because he's stinking up the joint."

Lord, I certainly hope that Badgley and Mischka did NOT design that ugly thing! I love them! One should not wear a boat neck top, or a belt, if one's figure has widened! ;)

Yes, E!, are you hearing this? Bring the Rivers women back! Star Jones babbled non-stop about her upcoming wedding and kissed everyone's ass. I always thought Joan's swift eye for style and her catty remarks were almost always better than the award show itself. What was even worse than Star was the horrible ABC pre-show. Badly written and very annoying.

Livia and I did talk all night back and forth about who was wearing what and who should have won -- we are veteran award show junkies. LOL

I have to say that, while I am a big fan of Meryl Streep's, she was the worst dressed woman of the evening. Poor Meryl...all that money and not one full length mirror in her home.
I loved Sarah Jessica Parker's dress the most.
I also thought Ellen Degeneres looked great!
Brad Pitt was, of course, the best looking man in the room.

I found the show to be quite entertaining and that was mainly because of Gary Shandling -- the man is hilarious. He was a perfect host!!

Ohmigod, you know who is even worse than Star? BILLY BUSH. Is he not the most annoying man on television? How did he get a job, especially after the spectacle that was his hosting of the ABC Oscars pre-show? I'm not saying this because he's a member of the Bush clan, the man is truly wretched. And that nose of his just screams rhinoplasty.

She cornered Bonnie Hunt (love her!) and her sister, then started going on and on about her chinchilla garb. The looks on their faces was of sheer disgust mixed with an urge to laugh. I literally couldn't believe she put it on AND had the gall to prattle on about it.

She definitely is and thank you! I wish she'd have another hit, I've always liked her, even in ****ty movies. I think she deserves it for a change. She was on Graham Norton a couple months ago and has a fantastic sense of humor. How sexy. :wavey:

I think I can easily call it the worst film ever made. I'm sitting there watching it and just wondering if anyone read the script before they signed the contract. Al Pacino all dressed up and cruising leather bars is laughable enough, but hot damn, this movie took it all to another level. OMG, I saw that movie as a youngster - 16 or so. Yikes. What a heap of crap it was. I recently watched it again, and it is very, very bad. The director really made a piece of anti-gay propaganda. Even though that world - minus the murders - actually did exist in NY at the time.

Pacino is a mess and so is Chris Noth. Drunks.
BTW, Angels in America drove me bat****. It had some great moments and Streep was of course excellent. But, Damn it was didactic and heavy handed.
Preachy preachy preachy. Well, that's Theatre for ya.
About one hour into it, the characters stopped talking to each other and were basically ranting political hoo ha into the air. Overblown and over-rated.

It's shocking when you consider that it was made by the same guy who directed The Exorcist. The original cut was supposedly XXX worthy.

Sometimes you really do fall from grace.

I loved every minute of Angels in America.

Star's chinchilla - very non-PC! She kept saying it was a summer chinchilla. Whatev. And I cracked up whenever someone told her she looked thin.

Tiff- she wore 2 different outfits during the pre-show - you probably only saw the first one...

Joely Richardson looked hot - and I also loved Teri Hatcher's dress.

Pacino always babbles on - I guess the director of the Emmys is a fan - you don't cut off the great Al!! I thought he looked hot - definitely better than at the Golden Globes!

Chris Noth needs those Samsonites under his eyes removed.

Probably because it sunk like rock. It was made in either 79 or 80. You can get all the particulars on IMDB. They still show it on cable. That's where I stumbled onto it a few months ago.

WTF?!?!?! Why haven't I ever heard of this movie? When was it made?

Here's a synopsis of the movie. It came out in 1980, and as dissention said, it was directed by William Friedkin:

Perhaps the most controversial film of its time due to its portrayal of homosexuality, the story follows a cop as he enters Manhattan's gay scene in search of a psychotic killer.
A sadistic serial killer is targeting New York's gay community and, in response, the NYPD sends rookie cop Steve Burns undercover to find the killer. Burns, who is straight, poses as a homosexual and enters the world of gay S&M sex clubs, learning their rules and mores as he goes along. But as Burns arduously tracks down the murderer, he finds himself growing attracted to these clubs and the gay lifestyle, forcing him to question -- and possibly confront -- his own sexual identity.

At the beginning of the film is a disclaimer: "This film is not intended as an indictment of the homosexual world. It is set in one small segment of that world which is not meant to be representational of the whole." Actor Edward O'Neill who plays Detective Schreiber, went on to achieve fame in television playing Ed Bundy in the sitcom "Married with Children." "Cruising" sparked protests from gay activist groups, who felt that the film depicted gay people in a bad light. Paul Morrissey, the director of such Andy Warhol vehicles as "Trash" and "Heat," was the first filmmaker to express interest in bringing the Gerald Walker novel to the big screen. He had intended to shoot the film in the summer of 1973, but his plans fell through and he made his Frankenstein and Dracula movies instead. Shot in Greenwich Village and New York City.
