My other house is at the bottom of a HUGE hill and the water was running VERY fast. I have been in a flash flood before and the creek was rising. There was a river in the back yard going toward the swollen creek. My Steinway was in peril so I raised it on concrete blocks as I could not carry it upstairs. I hope it is okay, but Laine is FAR more precious!!!!!!!!!!

It was VERY scary with al the sparking power lines.

EEEKKKK!!!!!

Hope she's okay! Post puppy pics!

I pray every day that Texas is spared from Hurricanes. I live about 2 miles from Galveston Bay (surrounded by a 30-foot earthen seawall, thankfully).

We stayed in town during Hurricane Alicia in 1983, and I will never, ever do that again. I was only 14, and we got the "clean" side of the storm, but the winds and rain and flooding and damage and 3 weeks without power or hot water for a shower were just too much to bear again, if I can help it.

Plus, it took almost 20 hours for the storm to completely pass us, beginning in the afternoon -- and Alicia was a relatively small hurricane. The lights went out in hour 3, and I spent the next 17 hours in the dark, listening to the wind howl and smash every object imaginable against the house, wondering when the house would fall on our heads or whether we'd soon be sitting in the 3 feet of water in the street was about to enter the house.

Major mindf*ck. Next time, I'm leaving!

Honey, where's the dog? Surely they are there with you? I was watching the news tonight and was wondering about you. Take care.

Well, there are worse things than being at the Ritz in Buckhead ordering up room service--now that's my idea of a hurricane shelter! Seriously, I hope everything and everyone turn out okay.

Take care of yourself, Jason, and take extra good care of those babies of yours!

Sadly, Laine appears to have lost her puppies - upsetting as that is, and believe me it is, such is nature. She is young and, hopefully, can try and have more. I am unsure if the hurricane had anything to do with it - no one can really say. But, on her scheduled ultrasound this morning (45 days out from the frist breeding and 39 days out from the last) her uterous shows signs of pregnancy, but no fetal sacs, which means either she reabsorbed her fetuses, is in the process of reabsorbing, or she had a false pregnancy - and if she does not reabsord, all of them, they will have to perform a C section next week to take out the remaining "mummies" (their word not mine). Other factors suggest she reabsorbed, which apparently is a phenomenon in dogs.

In any event, the hurricane waters came a tiny bit into the house, but there is no major damage!!!!!!!

What a night!!!!!

Thanks to all the well wishers!!!!!
