View Full Version : "We'll never forget you and we hope you never forget us"- Stevie Nicks

Stevie said that she hopes we never forget them as the final words at the Atlantic City show. What the hell does that mean? Is she/Fleetwood Mac not planning on touring again? Is their her touring swan song? I am a little scared by what she said.

I love this band and if there isn't a tour of some sort next summer then I'll be depressed.

So the point of this thread is when do you think we may get another tour/record? Is there any hope for next summer? And on a more depressing note- could this have very well been a farewell tour of sorts?

Another thing I would like to add- for the first time this tour (after doing 130 shows) Mick DID NOT say "The Mac is back". Am I reading too much into this?

Don't Panic...I know it's hard....I think at least Stevie likes performing too much to quit yet...and it looks like Lindsey does, too. Course, i'd rather have the whole band, rather than the separate parts. It was probably just cause it was the last show....gaw, i hope no one is sick or something!! aaahhhhhh, now you made me panic!!!! :) Just kidding...

Don't freak. He said it last night in Camden and Stevie was grinning like a cheshire cat. They're still under contract for one more record as far as I know. I'm 99.9 % certain they'll tour again but I'm doubting it will be on such a grand scale as this go around. Stevie HAS to put out an album soon. I don't think her label expected her to make this kind of a commitment to Fleetwood Mac. I may be wrong but I think I read somewhere that she was paid a rather large advance for Shangri La and subseqent albums to follow. So far it's just been TISL and we're heading into the year 05'. I think it's safe to say Stevie's feeling the pressure of her label to do something fast even though right now her heart is with Fleetwood Mac and she'd probably like to take a month or two off and then jump back into it with them. We'll hear from Stevie first and perhaps Lindsey (she says with hesitation and reservation yet a sense of hope) but we'll definately be hearing from Fleetwood Mac again. I think for a while it may have been up in the air but as the tour concludes on a high and positive note, the chemistry of the four of them is still there, the music is still as good as ever (even better, IMO) and everyone appears to be getting along so well. That is the deciding factor as to whether or not they'll work together and then tour again. My spidey sense tells me we'll hear from Fleetwood Mac in 06'.

Really? News to me.

I understood Lindsey was first out of the gate next year hence the reason his Soundstage performance has been bumped to season 3 which begins next Spring....

Stevie's probably written stuff... but I'd give her or FM as a whole at least a year before they even think of a new album... So I guess your "spidey sense" would be correct in thinking something in 06... I'd suggest something from SN in the early part of 06 (Feb or Mar) and FM by spring (May or June). Then a combo tour like Mick suggested where they incorporate all the solo stuff along with FM stuff into one concert and then tour it up in the Summer and Fall of 06.

I think Stevie's label is probably not pressuring her really, considering Fleetwood Mac is also on Reprise, they know Fleetwood Mac brings in more money (and truthfully in terms of album sales neither brings in a whole lot)

Some who were athe Camden show and talked to Stevie's neice Jessica in the audience were told that Stevie will be continuing work on an album "shes been working on already" and were told her mom, Lori, plans to do the next Stevie tour.

And according to Forbes they signed a "lucrative" 2-album contract for Say You Will, but doesnt Live in Boston count as the 2nd?

That makes me feel good knowing there is a record in the works and they are already planning a tour. I am really excited for a Stevie solo tour but am dreading the drought of Stevieness between the end of this tour and when her next project/tour comes out.

BUT she also has to fulfill the obligations of her solo contract. At the very least, it's weighing on her own mind. Look at it in terms of this...she's 56 now and in good shape for the most part aside from a bad hip that gives her pain now and then. I believe she has 2 more albums to go. As much as she'd love to do this forever, she knows that there will come a time when she can't...and you can't predict the future.

The only reason they've toured as much as they have...added on random shows like Chumash...is because IMO, they had to recoup a loss they took on album sales. I don't think the numbers they calculated ended up being the numbers they made and who knows what they got in terms of an advance. As far as I know, LIB wasn't the 2nd album. That would be really stupid if it were. To me, that was another way for them to recoup the loss...put out a DVD and add a live album (with only a few songs) and make it a package.

I wonder if she is obligated to do 2 more all new studio albums though? I mean, Enchanted wasn't that long ago, but she has so much unreleased material that conceivably she could just release an album of demo's. There wouldn't be any real pressure on her if she did that, only in selecting the songs to include. Then she could do another original album and that would be that. Then we could look forward to that book and animated film she's been talking about forever!

Jessi said that after this Mac tour Stevie was going to go to Arizona and write for two months and then go to LA and START her next solo album. She did not say Stevie had started it already. I just wanted to clarify because we all know how long it takes Stevie to get stuff done. Her album is NOT started yet according to her niece.
It would only make sense to me that after committing to FM for three years, Warner's might want her to do another solo album. She has two more on her contract, it has been almost four years since she put out a solo album and she is now 56 years old. Her FM work does not cancel out the money they advanced her for her solo contract. She owes them for both.
As far as Lindsey, I hope he puts out something in 2005. After what happened with GoS and the label, do we even know if he has been signed yet? I hope so. Did you guys read someplace that his Soundstage was bumped to next season because of a solo album or is that speculation? I don't remember reading anything like that. Maybe it was PBS's decision?

I can't count the times we have thought FM would never tour again. Don't get depressed. Those of us who were early fans had to wait ten years for an album and a tour with Lindsey in it. They'll tour again=:-)

I was thinking the same thing Vianna! I remember how devastated I felt watching that God awful news conference announcing that LB had quit the band. What a terrible feeling. We have actually been spoiled with all the Mac we have had in the last few years.

For cripes sake, if MICK FLEETWOOD can get a label to release his solo album, Lindsey Buckingham certainly could. Methinks Lindsey is just snobby and wants a major record company to release it.

if there's anything i managed to learn in my old age, is that (one way or another) fleetwood mac lasts forever.
when they cancelled their concert here on the TITN tour, i KNEW that that's it, and i'll never get to see them. a few years later, when i did see them on The Dance tour, i clearly realized that it was a 'once and for all' thing, but then again, i enjoyed this tour much better.
both stevie and lindsey seem as vibrant as ever, and john and mick are always free, so i tend to agree with Kelly and Vianna. in FM's case one can never say never.

Early on at the Camden show, Stevie said that 'tonight and a show the day after tomorrow will be the last shows we will be doing for a while.' That hardly sounds like she is shutting the door on Fleetwood Mac at all. If the past is any indication, like the "Behind the Mask Tour" for example, if this was truly FM's swansong, they would have milked it for all it's worth (or at least Mick would have). And Stevie even joked at the beginning of Landslide that she was training Jessi to be her replacement in the band.

In a way I would like to think that the fact that Christine just put out such a strong solo album has raised the bar. Yes, they are all probably very friendly with one another, but as singing/songwriting musicians, they are also probably quite competitive. And Christine has also proven that you can be a rock 'n' roller in your sixties and be at the top of your game without becoming some kind of a pathetic parody of your old self. Will Lindsey and Stevie be able to pull this off so well? Only time will tell...

Very very good point. Also, it's interesting to note that in Atlantic City at the gate to get in, a girl was handing out flyers for Christine's new album. The album cover photo is on the front and on the back it says "The long-awaited new solo album from the former member of Fleetwood Mac and the creative force behind the classics "Don't Stop," "You Make Lovin' Fun" and "Little Lies" The new CD features 12 stunning new songs including the new classics: "Friend" and "You Are."

There is also a quote from Mojo on the back that says "Just so we know she means business, McVie leaves no doubt that she's shut the door on her past. The songs crackle with ire, indignation, and with none of the frothy self-deception of the past."

Later in the concert, I spotted the girl who had been handing them out over by Sharon and Jana's mics so it would appear to me, the girl was hired by the band to distribute the flyers. Perhaps she's someones family member? Not sure. At any rate, I thought it was very cool of the band to be spreading the word that Christine is back with a new album.

Why WOULDN'T they? More interest in Christine's album keeps the "Fleetwood Mac" name in people's minds whether she's in the band or not.

I just wish that the "Fleetwood Mac machine" would STILL be as honoring of ALL ex-members (for just ONE instance: now that all the fences are mended, get the RnRHoF to amend Fleetwood Mac's induction to include Bob Welch), but, that's just me.

Well, this was the only show that I know of where the flyers were passed out. Perhaps it's because it was the first concert in a while and her album has JUST been released here in the US. I didn't see anyone passing them out in Camden though.

Why wouldn't they? Couldn't you just hear Mick, "Chrissy darling, I'm so sorry but it's going to cost far too much to print up those flyers...." ;)

I never could understand why they would include Peter and not Bob...always confused me a bit.

My prediction ? Stevie writes this fall. She goes into the studio in mid-spring. Works on record 4 or five months. Producer is fired or bails. Second producer comes in. Record is tweaked on until late 2005. Record comes out mid spring 2006. She tours. Sends Mac songs from road. They work on her songs and Lindsey's endlessly-tinkered-with unfinished tracks. She records vocals in late 2006 after her tour. Record out spring of 2007. Summer tour. Lindsey solo album - once again shuttled in Mac project.
Considering history, this is being optimistic !

I will always and forever be ashamed of Fleetwood Mac for not doing whatever it took to make sure Bob Welch was on that list (RRHoF). I won't go into how important and vital he was to getting them to the LB SN era. It is a huge slap in the face.

I respect Lori's decision to leave the road to raise Jessica, but I'm glad she's finally been deemed old enough to go on tour (or stay with grandma and grandpa  ) because I wanna see me some Lori!!! Maybe having the original trio (Stevie, Lori, Sharon) back together on the road will lead to some creative setlist choices? I can dream, can't I?

Stevie most certainly will be inducted as a solo artist when she is eligible, esp. if she is still with Warners, which seemed to able to get FM quick enough and on the Rumors anniversary and at the time of The Dance  Plus, Stevie apparently is very much loved and respected by many older, her age, and younger. So, I think she will have no problem  Will it be in 06 - who knows, but it will not be long after that IMO and based on the above.

I don't thinks he'll get in the year she's eligible. Probably a few years afterwards. Look at all the classic bands that are eligible now that still haven't gotten in. She was inducted in '98 as part of Fleetwood Mac, I doubt they're chomping at the bit to induct the year she's eligible.

How's that old kid's song go?... "Every party has a pooper, that's why we invited you." :xoxo:

One of my favorite poems seems fitting:

We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams.
World-losers and world-forsakers,
Upon whom the pale moon gleams;
Yet we are the movers and shakers,
Of the world forever, it seems.

With wonderful deathless ditties
We build up the world's great cities,
And out of a fabulous story
We fashion an empire's glory:
One man with a dream, at pleasure,
Shall go forth and conquer a crown;
And three with a new song's measure
Can trample an empire down.

We, in the ages lying
In the buried past of the earth,
Built Nineveh with our sighing,
And Babel itself with our mirth;
And o'erthrew them with prophesying
To the old of the new world's worth;
For each age is a dream that is dying,
Or one that is coming to birth.

Speaking of album sales, has anyone crunched numbers on how many people saw the tour? If so, how close are the total ticket and album sales? Does it stand to reason that most (or at least a good portion) of people who saw a show had the new album?

I dont think its weighing on her mind in a negative way. this is stevies love. she has been with the mac on this tour for a long time, i think its safe to say that she is anxious to get back to work on her solo work, for the love of it , not because she is feeling pressure. the fact that she is 56 doesnt mean she cant get 2 new albums done. the record comp, isnt saying that she has to tour her but off like the tour she just finished with fm. altho we all know stevie does tour with every new album. but i think she loves to do it. i know as you get older, its may be harder to tour, her hip injury, sure, that could be a problem. but i dont see stevie stopping making records just because at some point she may not be able to tour. i think she will always write and release her music til the day she dies and if she cant do a tour, we will still get new music. but im sure she will tour as long as she feels that she can do it. to say she is feeling pressure by the record co cause of her age is like saying well once she fullfills this obligation, she will never have another record contract and we all know stevie is in this for the long haul, at any age. rock on stevie.

Would everyone please tell me where I can find an article that mentions Stevie had a hip injury? As far as I know this was just a rumour that was started about a year back when she wasn't moving around that much at the shows. Well obviously if something was wrong she is fine now. She is dancing, twirling, running around on stage, et cetera at the speed of lightning. At least on this summer tour she has been very energetic. So I think it is safe to say that she is fine now. I do have the bootleg of the very first SYW show and it was obvious she had some sort of problem because she was literally dragging her feet but doesn't she seem back to normal? Or should I expect more dancing or whatever at the shows?

I think it's the first Fleetwood Mac tour I've skipped since I was about eight years old. And it actually feels good!

I've had it with the current band. I wouldn't even bother seeing any of them on their solo tours. I'm sick of all the bland musicians they use, & all their other little sillies.

There was mention in the Uncut article:

http://www.fleetwoodmac-uk.com/articles/FMart114.html

Today, however, she's damaged her hip, and mounts the studio steps gingerly. "You become more brittle as you get old. But it's all a state of mind-I'm trying to have a young attitude. There's still nobody can dance like me," she says defiantly.

I can't remember where I read that she was waiting until the tour ended to have surgery. I know I read it somewhere.

Hey PIP, remember that panty revealing shot of Stevie doing the high kick that someone posted over on the BN board several months ago? Do you still have that picture? If so, maybe you could post it...it appears from that photo that in the very, recent past Stevie was able to kick her leg above her head. It was probably taken BEFORE she hurt her hip, but it was in the last few years.

It's mindblowing really that a 56 year old, menopausal, injured woman has less energy then she had decades ago. ...shrugs...

Stevie did have a stiff walk in some of the Destiny Rules clips and on the first night of this tour back in May 2003, but I just saw her on stage last weekend and she is back to normal! Trust me. I did not notice any stiffness- she was twirling around on stage as graceful as ever and was dancing to the beat of Mick's drum.

And even if she wasn't... who the heck cares? She is getting older. Still she has more energy then a lot of people in their twenties have. Look at that Ruben guy that won American Idol last year. He was sweating after one song! Stevie dances, twirls and sings for two and a half hours and doesn't break a sweat. Clearly Ruben had a weight problem but he was only 20! Stevie is almost 40 years older and that counts for something.

I dont know where the article is online, but before the Say You Will Tour she mentioned a hip problem in a US Weekly short interview...I asked Brett Tuggle recently about her hip in the Q&A on the Penguin and he did say something about it in his response :

"We are all concerned about Stevie's hip. She is doing better and will continue to monitor it when she gets off the road. Thanks for your concerns... "

Well I tried to point that out in my post by saying he obviously had a weight problem. Bad example anyway...

Okay, let's take Sheryl Crow- this girl's dancing makes my skin crawl. She isn't any more mobile on stage then Stevie is and she is in her thirties, right? And even though they dance around about the same amount Sheryl comes off as not having a clue. Stevie is just so much more down to earth these days. I love the warm feeling Stevie gives me. I love the twirls, I love the silly air guitar moves, I just love Stevie. Period. And based on the videos I've watched I actually like her performances these days to the ones before I was born when she was so out there (falling off stages, mixing up lyrics, being so high on drugs). I like a more mellow Stevie.

Now my posts are all starting to not make sense. I am confused about what this thread is even about now!

With all these rumours about the Mac throwing in the towel, do you think that there is some truth in it? On the last weekend of the SYW tour Stevie told us never to forget them and Mick did not say "The Mac is back" so maybe they all agreed in private that this was their last project together and they would go about their respective business and just keep in touch. Who knows?

I never could understand why they would include Peter and not Bob...always confused me a bit.
Well, Peter wrote hit songs. His songs topped the charts in Europe, and he was the #3 most successful writer at one point in Europe, behind Lennon/McCartney and Jaggar/Richards. Don't get me wrong, Bob got screwed royally and should have been inducted. But I've always been confused as to why Jeremy and Danny were inductucted, but not Billy and Rick. Internationally speaking, the BTM band was the second most successful version of the band. They had a top 20 album and sold lots of concert tickets. In fact, they even sold out Wembly. Sure, people weren't paying to see Billy and Rick, but then they weren't paying to see Danny and Jeremy, either.

As far as Lindsey, I hope he puts out something in 2005.
Me too. But, seeing how it's almost June, 2005, I think that's unlikely. I hope I'm wrong.

But here's a thought I had last night that frankly scared the hell out of me. The next release for Lindsey will only be his third studio album in twenty years

After that dawned on me, I decided to check something out. If you start at 1978, Lindsey Buckingham has released seven studio albums, while Peter Green has released eleven! What's worse, in the last twenty years, Lindsey's only had TWO studio albums, where Peter Green has had SIX! So who's the Mac's REAL recluse?

Lindsey "sold" his projects to the Mac. His songs for SYW and TITN were basicly for soloalbums we all know that. so that could have been 5 soloalbums in 25 years. And for Peter: as much as I love him: some of HIS work should not have been released...imo. And the man his still a legend because of three years and basicly the same amount of albums. I still only count three solo potential solo albums, and he wouldn't have had any songs for Fleetwood Mac. In any event, I agree with you on TITN, but not so much on SYW. Given that what would have been GoS had Mick, John, and Chris, it's hardly a solo outing. While that wasn't necessarily going to be a "Fleetwood Mac" album, the implication was still there. I honestly think that the whole OOTC situation made Lindsey realize that he really needed Fleetwood Mac more than he realized. Everything happened the way it should have with that album. It was his best solo album ever, he got the big first review in Rolling Stone (five stars, I believe), he had videos, his songs were getting radio air play, the record company backed him, he did television and radio shows, and even toured in support of the album. At the end of the day, I believe it only sold about what "Time" sold. So, color me cynical, but prior to his tour, Lindsey said that he couldn't see a situation where he'd ever work with Fleetwood Mac again, but after the the tour, he somehow got back in touch with Mick Fleetwood. I'm not saying one lead to the other, but I'm sure the whole experience really humbled Lindsey and opened his mind to the possibility of working with Fleetwood Mac again. I mean, my favorite story is how Lindsey asked Mick about maybe getting a bass player, as if he didn't know who Mick was going to suggest. Subconsciously, I think Lindsey really wanted a Mac reunion, but didn't know how to just come out and say it, especially after all that went down in 1987.

And for Peter: as much as I love him: some of HIS work should not have been released...imo. And the man his still a legend because of three years and basicly the same amount of albums. So if we're macfans...we should not rely on quantity, but on quality. Still: BRING THE DAMN **** OUT LB!!!!!!!!
Oh, I don't disagree. I'm just saying that purely on number of albums, it's odd that the guy who's often called a recluse who's turned his back on the music industry would, at the end of the day, have had more studio albums released than somebody who's considered to be a pretty stable person.

Does it stand to reason that most (or at least a good portion) of people who saw a show had the new album?Oh, I don't think that's been true since the heady days of 1977. The majority of rock concert audiences for Fleetwood seem to have just wanted a party night out. That may be true of nearly all the arena-headlining bands, even in dubious cases, like Springsteen's 1984/85 tour behind "Born in the USA."

Stevie. Just. Stood. There. My eyes see very well.

Fifty-six means nothing these days -- that isn't old. Fifty-six-year-olds bound around like thirty-six-year-olds these days. Stevie is "acting" old, for some reason -- it started years ago when she frequently told interviewers, "I'm too old for that" (she was probably 35!). Well that was 2003, this is 2005. If you saw her on the first leg of the SYW tour this was right after she supposedly fell down the stairs or something. I have a DVD of the first show in Columbus and it is obvious she is limping and is injured. But by late Summer (around the time that Live in Boston was taped) I think she was fine. I don't think many people complained about her lack of movement in 2004 because I think she was pretty much recovered by then. I just saw her in Vegas on the Friday and Saturday shows and she was litterally shaking her ass like I have never seen before. So, I just think that it is unfair to judge her state today based on how she was acting right after she took a little tumble down the stairs!

It reminded me of those atrocious appearances on Leno and Today. And, this is just me, but I don't think a four day stint at a Vegas casino is indicative of how she's going to be when she's actually out on the road and touring, good gawd, the sheds.

Well we will see what she is like on this Gold Dust tour. She seems to be a lot more reserved with FM though, don't you think?

I agree that IKINW was a great song last summer. It was my favorite Lindsey song. But are you serious, you would have left if not for a couple of his songs? That just suprises me because I assume FM is somewhat a part of your life considering you post on this message board frequently. I guess that doesn't mean that you have to like the show though- it certainly doesn't sound like you are amazed when Stevie does a twirl.

I just can't imagine the show being that horrible. What about Standback, that song rocked on this last tour. Beautiful Child, that song was well beautiful. Did that do nothing for you? What did you think of Sara? That was sort of a big deal since it hadn't been done live in sooooo long...

I don't want to sound like some crazy Stevie fan but it just suprises me that you didn't enjoy yourself.

I think she sees having another frontman as a way to not do as much and be a little lazier than usual. She doesn't have to carry the whole show like she does when she's solo, so she lives it up. Lindsey acts like a six year old who has had too much chocolate, so it's a good excuse for her to not be as active.

It was a lousy show, what can I say? The sound sucked, the crowd sucked, it was hot, Stevie was boring as hell, Mick was more annoying than usual, and Lindsey was the only thing that was remotely energized. Stevie's twirling does nothing for me, especially in those Reeblechs that turn every twirl into some off-kilter disaster; she can trash it in favor of pulling out some good songs and singing them as if she's interested (which she proved she can do in Vegas).

I just can't imagine the show being that horrible. What about Standback, that song rocked on this last tour. Beautiful Child, that song was well beautiful. Did that do nothing for you? What did you think of Sara? That was sort of a big deal since it hadn't been done live in sooooo long...

She sucked vocally, but that's understandable since this was at the time when shows were getting canceled due to her being sick. Beautiful Child was still great, Stand Back bored me, and I think they should never have brought Sara back because it was just so putrid on the last leg. I usually love it live, but nowadays I do not.

I don't want to sound like some crazy Stevie fan but it just suprises me that you didn't enjoy yourself.

What would you like her to do? I think the real issue lies in comparisons. Stevie 2003/2004 vs. Stevie circa 1977, or even 1987, or even 1997. Stevie 2003/2004 vs. Lindsey 2003/2004 (who, I agree, acted like a spazzed out child having epileptic seizures). If the both of them had acted like that on stage, they would have looked ridiculous.

In Vegas, Stevie had a lot of energy. I think she might possibly have held back a lot with FM during SYW for the sake of Lindsey taking the spotlight. Mind you, he went over the top with that spotlight, but still.. I really don't know if he does eat too much chocolate, drinks 10 cups of coffee a day or is just naturally hyper, but in taped shows I've seen from earlier days, he wasn't nearly that crazed.

The one thing I wish Stevie would do with FM is to be more interactive with the audience. I really don't give a sh*t if she can do the high kicks anymore, but it would be nice if she acknowledged the crowd a little more. That's my only constructive piece of advice for her. Otherwise, I thought her performances rocked. If someday she gets out there and does the splits for us, well, I'll be even happier.

Speaking of that I watched the dance last night. I noticed during his speech leading up to BTLH he seemed like he was tweaked out on something. Did anyone else notice this or is it just me?

Lindsey does seem hyper sometimes on stage (just these last few years though) but in all the interviews he seemed soooooo boring! All he knows how to say is "we are more spontaneous then ever" and he never smiles or jokes around or anything. I found that a little strange.... Maybe he brings an espresso maker with him and has a dozen shots before each show, because when he is not performing he seems tired and not very fun...

One thing I found interesting- at that award show a few years ago when FM won for favorite band, the host made some joke about how they were old! Stevie was rolling on the floor she thought it was so funny and Lindsey just sat there and didn't even crack a smile. That is a shinning example of the difference between Stevie and Lindsey in interviews. Of course, it was a different story when they were actually performing live. Lindsey was the manic one.

Nah, Lindsey has been this way at least since the Tusk tour. Think "Not That Funny" from the Mirage video or WMYTYTO from the Tusk tour. This isn't new for Lindsey nor is he "just trying to take the spotlight on the SYW tour." He's been like this for at least 25 years.

Diamond,
since I didn't see the Vegas shows I can't deny whether she was shakin' her booty, but, I can say in all the shows I've seen (and I never miss a solo or FM show in my area) she definately doesn't throw herself into the spins and head flips, kicks, etc like she used too. It's all very controlled, and planned. And s-l-o-w. Wait...and she's wearing 'sturdier' shoes now, isn't she? Hmmm...

David, you are right! I'm so tired of people harping on the "oh she's 56, I'd like to see how well YOU can move when you're 56!!" It's just nonsense. Last week, my neice celebrated her Sweet 16, her 50 year old mother COMMANDED the dance floor the entire night. This is a woman who last year had to receive lumbar steroids for herniated discs in her spine! Disco dancing all night! Imagine that!

However, not everyone has that amount of energy in their fifties. I agree with David that perhaps there is more to it than just her age...she seemed blah the first leg especially..unmotivated, uninspired...just off somehow. I think part of it was her health issues with the hip, menopause, the travelling but maybe there was more to it. I just think it is sort of unfair when fans expect Stevie to have the same level of energy and flair as she did in 1977. Everyone changes as they get older and I have less energy now, in my early thirties, than I did when I was 25. Not all fifty six year olds dance all night and bubble over with excitement. This has been a progressive thing with Stevie too...she had much less energy on the TISL tour than she did on Enchanted. The first leg of SYW was pretty bad, IMHO, in terms of her overall spark. I felt she did get better, much much better after the first summer break in 2003. When she came back in Sept..she was like a different woman, dancing, smiling, twirling...showing some enthusiasm for her songs. I adore her and am not trying to be overly critical or judgemental..it is just a general observation and my own opinion.
Lindsey has more energy now, imho, than he did twenty years ago for some reason! You would think his excitement or mania would rub off on La Nicks..she would feed off of it. It is contagious for me when watching him!

You know I have gone out with a few friends these last two weekends to a few clubs and bars in the area. The majority of the patrons were senior citizens and there they were dancing it up on the dance floor all night! They were doing the twist at the bar we were at last Saturday! This past Friday night there were people who were 50+ that were getting up and "boogie oogie, ooging till they just couldn't boogie no more."
Now I know that not everyone is going to be the same but yes older people do go out and have a great time. It was ironic because I was the one sitting there like a poopie head.

Someone may have already said this but i'm far too lazy to read through several pages of this thread to find out. Back in 1998 on Stevie's Enchanted Tour, during Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You, Stevie sang the lyrics "I want you to remember me...yes I do..." Well, fast forward to 2005 and she's still touring. It may have not been said in Detroit but it WAS said in Camden..."the Mac is back!" I think whatever happens will happen but I wouldn't be flipped out about it. Towards the end of tours, everyone always seems to get a little emotional and after 130 some dates, it's only natural.

Well in Vegas her dances and twirls were more spontanious. This was maybe because it was only a week long set so she didn't have time to say that a thirty second twirl belonged in this song, or a kick belonged during this chorus. She just did it. I went to Friday's show and Saturday's and as far as dancing goes she was different each night.
