Just a silly little question- what magazines do you subscribe to?
DrummerDeanna

I used to subscribe to Premiere Magazine, TV Guide Crossword Puzzles and US - in high school I was way into celebrities so I'd chop the magazines up and put pics all over my walls/locker/notebooks...typical really...
Now - I keep meaning to subscribe to TV Guide Crosswords - but haven't gotten around to it - I also might subscribe to glamour...haha

Yeah, I like to read- and my current short attention span combined with my jaded attitute towards the recent lack of creativity/freshness within the literary world has kinda made me a magazine junky. I forgot my lifetime subscription to Rolling Stone.
No, technically, Details is not a gay magazine. However, all you have to do is read the damn thing to figure out which side of the fence they are marketing to. So much of the content is related to the gay lifestyle that it's laughable when they include some "I got it on with chicks and wasn't it great" article. I can't imagine any straight guy actually reading it- the eye candy is just exploded all over the pages of that rag.

Yay, i'm so glad!! do you know what kind? was it for an hour? Coincidentally, I finally did Yoga last night (long overdue) but i did it at home with a 20 minute workout for power flexibility. It's sooooo good for you, your whole body and mind. I really can't say enough. it's actually hard for me to do, to just even quiet my mind enough to start, and also, my whole life i've done sports that work against flexibility - the back of my legs and hip flexors and just that whole thing are incredibly tight (though muscular :D ) All these things make me know that i really, really need yoga. Also i find that when it's hard for me to sit down and do my homework, it's best if i do yoga first, it calms and focuses my monkey mind enough so that i can concentrate on the boring law stuff.
I'm soooo glad you did it, keep it up!!!! you'll gain unimaginable benefits! And, I was gonna ask you, have you met any people yet? Maybe from this class you will....

Entertainment Weekly (one of my favorites, I totally love it. Always LOTS of good articles.)
Time (had it for years)
Daily Variety (more of a newspaper and VERY expensive at that!)
Premiere (not a favorite, but I got it free for a year)
Hustler (only because I <33333333333333333 Larry Flynt; I've honestly never read an entire issue. I do get a kick out of browsing for mentions of Jerry Falwell in it, though.)

I had it for awhile and even though it had some pretty decent articles occasionally, I quickly tired of reading about Beyonce, Limp Bizkit, Hootchie Spears, and J Ho. And Jessica Simpson. Bleh.

Men's Fitness has it's moments - though they have started to slant into that whole "How to get the hot chick, How to deal with your woman, Here's a bunch of hot chicks and what they want" kind of articles. Makes me smirk and turn the page. That's why I ditched Men's Health. I think they are trying to compete with HMV, Stuff, and those other soft core porn mags.

I have to keep up with fashion, so Cosmo, Glamour, Marie Claire, and Martha Stewart Living. I love to read music magazines too, but I don't subscribe to the ones I like. They are just too expensive to get every month in the mail. At over a hundred dollars for one year/per magazine, I'll just go to Borders and buy the ones I want. I love MOJO, Uncut, and Classic Rock. They're all British magazines. I guess that is why the subscriptions are so much!

And yes ladies, Playgirl IS a soft-core gay rag. When all the models are gay, and the majority of the advertisements are gay, you can write off the commentary from the Editor and the horrible Harlequin romance masturbation stories.

Buffy has a HUUUUUGE following. Like, seriously. It's inSANE. Not quite Star Wars & Star Trek-style following, but huge nonetheless. I've actually only seen one Buffy magazine, and that was back when I was in 5th grade. But they're still around.

Deanna, Pilates will kick your abs! It is SO intense a workout for your mid-section. I have several DVD's with different workouts on them and they are tough, but I love 'em. One of the workouts is only butt/thighs, but I haven't done it yet. I think you'll like it.

What an interesting question! Well, I've subscribed to various magazines over the years, but currently I subscribe to:
Redbook - I really love this magazine. Great articles most of the time; great interviews with celebrities.
ESPN - I actually won a six-month subscription to this magazine, & I'm not really happy with it. It's mostly pictures & not articles. I won't be renewing it.
TV Guide - Maybe not exactly a magazine, but besides TV listings, they have nice articles in it.
Oh, I love Pilates. I tried Yoga & I couldn't lose anything. I got a Pilates video this past winter when I wanted to lose about five pounds. With this & changing my diet, I actually had to stop doing it since I'm more active in the summer. I was losing too much weight with riding my bike & walking my dog, all in my butt & thighs. And it helped my back. (I have osteoarthritis in my spine.) I may have to start it back up this winter if I start gaining weight again.

Yeah - I never really had to transition with no one around...I like being alone, but it can be depressing to know that, after you leave work, you'll just be at your house by yourself and stuff. On the other hand, being that alone could make you feel free, in a way - You could be however you want and there is no one there that knew you before. "Tonight our guests are Laura and George W. Bush...FOR THE HOUR!"
Ugh. Larry King drives me bonkers. He wouldn't let Michael Moore on his show because the White House said that if he did, they would cut him off completely and not cooperate with him ever again for a show.
Anderson Cooper is awesome, but you can tell that the brass upstaris is trying to get him to spew the GOP talking points. Still, the show he did with Michael Stipe as guest co-host ROCKED.
And Lou Dobbs is great, too. He used to be such a conservative whore, but now he's seen the light. His new book about outsourcing is fantastic, BTW. Aaron Brown is a pig, though, don't let him fool you. He's a wolf in sheeps clothing. I've gotten some nasty emails from him after I sent "feedback."
Chris Matthews...where do I begin? He's a racist, plain and simple. His display towards Al Sharpton at the DNC was shocking. I haven't watched a show since (except for when he had that traitorous bastard Zell Miller on and was challeneged to a "duel")
"GET OUTTA MAH FACCCCE!"
DeeGeMe
09-15-2004, 12:25 PM
Yeah--I was really shocked when Chris cut Al off like that. Listen, I like Al. He's not perfect-far from it but you know, here's the thing--the Dems put our crazies out there for everybody to see--we don't hide them in the closet. Look who the Repugs trotted out for their convention--people who in no way truly represent what their party is about! And I'll always love the Rev. Al for his line about "It doesn't matter who you go to bed with at night--it matters if you've both got a job when you wake up in the morning!" Ain't that the truth!
Anyway, I haven't had much use for ole' Chris since then. He's a whore, plain and simple and a psychotic one at that. It burns me up when people say, "But he's a Democrat." He and Zell Miller are from the same wing of the Democratic party-the psychopaths who used to be Democrats and masquerade as Democrats but who are really and truly and totally Republicans!
Lou Dobbs rocks. He's really seen the light where this administration is concerned and he's a tough interviewer. I enjoy seeing him chopping up on people. Anderson is very cool as well, even though he took some jabs at my main main, KO, last night.
Aaron Brown doesn't fool me for one milisecond. I personally think that CNN should market him as cure for insomnia. I so think MSNBC should put Olbermann opposite Brown--he'd kill him in the ratings. I've read/heard about some of Brown's snotty e-mail replies to people who've written in. I heard a great quote about him and his show. "Keith Olbermann's show is the show that Aaron Brown THINKS he's doing." That about sums it up. I think he thinks he's much smarter and interesting than he actually is!
