I was thinking about this. I love SYW and think it is so much fun to listen to and especially to see performed live. So, I was thinking, this is really Stevie's only suggary sweet pop song. Are there any others that you would consider ear candy? And, by the way, what do you think of the song Say You Will?

Other sugary sweet Stevie songs:
Sister Honey
Two Kinds of Love
If I Were You
Unconditional Love
Love Is (love the demo, HATE the album version)
Every Day
SYW is okay. I like her voice on it, the lyrics are alright, but the unfinished train of thought in the first verse and the repeated chorus drive me bonkers. Still, it's better than the live versions, which make me positively mad. They ALL look like corpses playing it live because it's so dull and flat.

yeah, cool song. I like it. It's sugary and sweet and that's the reason I don't like it for the album title. When you say Stevie Nicks ( specially within Fleetwood Mac) I think in mystic, witches, darkness, gypsies, black magic in Hollywood Hills, etc.
And SYW is not that at all

Oh forgot "If I were You". Love that song.
Seriously, you don't like Say You Will live? I think it is the most fun live song from the album. I love doing the lasso and Stevie looked anything but dead this Friday doing all the lasso dance moves et cetera.

No joke. And no surprise I don't like either one ! If I were forced, I would choose SYW. I even prefer TMMS to L&L.

Hee. I remember when I became a fan, by hearing Stand Back on the radio. Mom was like "That's Stevie Nicks!" (I had just then started getting back into FM), and I was like "What?! No!" because all I had really heard of hers was Rhiannon and GDW and the like. I thought all of her songs were witchy and mystical-y... and here comes Stand Back.

The duet with Kenny Loggins is pretty sugary, but that may not be her fault. SYW was one of my least favorites. It's grown on me a bit since then, and of course i don't hate it, but i kind of don't really care for it. It's soooo mid tempo and major key....

Oh, it's painful. She does NOT sing it live, she talks it in a very annoying low voice. Very painful. I have a burned DVD copy of LIB without it.

Of all her songs on SYW I probably like SYW the least.
Other ear candy Talk to Me& Leather and Lace, Running Through the Garden.
I LOVE Talk to Me, but could do w/o L&L. Of course there are way more toturous songs to listen to the L&L (B&B springs to mind)
Live SYW is more fun, esp since I don't hear the kids singing, I actually thought I had scratched my CD the first time I heard it.

Can't you see (hear) that?!? Anyway, "Angel" comes to mind for some reason when I think sugary, but maybe I'm not giving it enough credit. The lyrics are better than the others that have been mentioned, IMO.

I can't beleive SYW gets no credit. I can listen to this song over and over and over again. In fact, I listen to most of her songs on that album over and over again. I think SYW has to be my favorite Fleetwood Mac record.

I think the chorus of SYW is fantastic, though it is repeated too often. The song could have been great if it had just a little more going on -- a bridge, a little more variety in the verse. And no kids' choir, PLEASE!!! ;)

Oh c'mon... if you are into Fleetwood Mac, you've got to have an unusually sweet tooth and a lot of insulin to back it up. Some other tooth-rotting ditties:
-Maybe Love
-Sable on Blond
-Reconsider Me
-If Anyone Falls
-I Don't Wanna Know
And for some reason I can't help but remember my complete and utter horror of watching Saturday morning cartoons back in the 80s and seeing the "new" Alvin & the Chipmunks singing a wonderfully bubblegum version of "Talk to Me." Now I cannot help but picture Alvin, Simon and Theodore every time I hear this song. I also suspect they may have done a cover version of "Some Become Strangers," although I am not entirely certain.

I wouldn't call Sister Honey "sugary sweet." It's more like "incredibly horny." :woohoo:
I agree. I think the song really could have benefited from a bridge or extra verse instead of the endless repetition of the chorus. However, I will admit that the chorus is incredibly catchy.
And I do like the kids' singing at the end. ;)
But, I'll have to agree with ontheEdgeof17 that Leather and Lace is her most sickeningly (is that a word? :p ) sweet song.
ay yi yi...too many smilies in this post.
I've never really thought of L&L as sickeningly sweet but it is a bit cheesy. Especially the "You in the moonlight" part.

I would definitely consider "I Don't Want to Know," as a sugary, pop song of Stevie's. I just love it though. One of my favorites! :D

I'd have to agree with "If I Were You"... it's all sugary and upbeat, very cool! SYW is pretty awesome as well, I love the little kids chanting at the end as it fades out.
A couple of other ones:
- The Nightmare (some of the demo versions I've heard are incredibly peppy)
- Stand Back
- Talk To Me
- Leather & Lace (definitely)
I'm sure there's probably people that would disagree with this, but those seem incredibly sugary and upbeat to me.
