Do any of you ledgies know of any real good sites for bit torrent. I found one but all they seem to have is the Dead and Dave Mathews.
I want one that has Mac stuff and good movies, not the porn stuff.
Thanks Alison

try http://www.suprnova.org/ ((here)) and isohunt (http://isohunt.com/) first. ,if you want fresh episodes, here (http://www.btefnet.com/) is the best place to find them, and in case you need a good search tool, try bitoogle (http://www.bitoogle.com/)

The way for us to improve the spreading of Fleetwood Mac bootlegs through these channels:
Track down low generation tape copies, avoid the digital copies that have burning errors, diginoise and suchlike.
Should the above not be immediately possible, track down people who have these low generation tapes, such as David, Dissention, Brian J., etc.
If they are reluctant at first force them to listen, put them even at gunpoint and make them realize the benefits of spreading material through these sources during the times of faster Internet connections.
Once you get a tape or two (or the CD-R with no burning mistakes) get them to your computer in a digital form. Remaster them if they need it, track them (with CDWave, no sector boundary errors with that program), do not compress them or use excessive noise reduction.
Should you get a CD-R, extract it with EAC and check for sector boundary errors & other possible flaws.
Torrent it to the bit torrent trackers, keep the window open as long as you can for people to have it.
When you download something from there, keep your window open for others as long as you have uploaded the amount of data that you downloaded to others.
When you burn what you downloaded to cd, use 4X speed at max, or configure your EAC.
Or burn those .flac and .shn sets to CD-Rs as data discs so the possibility of errors is practically non-existent.
Re-seed this stuff once in a while so people who weren't quick enough to get it in the first run can enjoy it too.
The community can do all this because of the software and technology available. There is no need to call anyone "anal retentive", this is about preserving the original quality of the music as well as we can.
Screw you if you think I was being too serious here. :p These things are just common practice in many a band's fan community nowadays.

This sounds like a great idea! Why aren't more people doing it?

Ask them, I wouldn't know. :p Some trade CDs I have aren't worth sharing this way because of several mistakes in them. And the traders I dealt with couldn't help them.
But really, the quality could be improved if certain people with the access to most of this material were willing to sacrifice a little more of their time to something like this. This is the way we got the Buckingham Nicks live tracks, after all. Someone's sitting on that full soundboard somewhere and this could be one way for us to get him/her involved into sharing all of that with us.

Sharing the Groove They have a nice variety of artists, including the Mac, Stevie, Lindsey, etc. I have used it a couple of times. I have been happy with the results.

http://www.sharingthegroove.org. But it's been having a lot of problems for the last six weeks. Some of the people who were sharing their collections there have switched on to http://www.easytree.org, formerly known as bt.easytree.org.
Remember, no legal releases at these two places. They're for the boots only.

Stupid question #1: What is bit torrent?
Stupid question #2: how do I get it?

Vianna, it's a file downloading method meant for larger files, and a P&P thing. There's no sense in using for mp3-compressed material; I mainly use it for audio and video bootlegs. But these are large files so if you're on dial-up don't bother.
Here's one of those Bit Torrent FAQs that should get you started:
