Hi everybody!

I guess I could post this on many of the forums at the Ledge, but since I "belong" here, I post it here. :)

I got a newsletter from 101cd.com saying this:

A true rock legend, Mick Fleetwood should need no introduction. The hub of one of the most successful bands of all time, Mick is no stranger to the songwriting process and knows a thing or two about what it takes to perfect such an art! 'Something Big' brings together a stunning line-up of musicians, including longtime Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie and the band's original guitarist Jeremy Spencer who appeared on early Fleetwood Mac releases. With this all-star band, Mick has recorded an album that "feels like an old friend", and there is more than a hint of Fleetwood Mac here as the album progresses. RECOMMENDED

The track list is:
1 Bitter End
2 Something Big
3 Where The Wind Blows
4 It's Only Money
5 Walking With The Angels
6 Making Other Plans
7 These Walls
8 Looking Into You
9 Passion
10 No Borders
11 Watching Over You
12 Heaven Sent

Mick said in an interview during the "Say You Will" tour that he and John McVie planned to do a blues album with guests such as Jeremy Spencer after the SYW tour. I only wish Peter Green would have appeared too. Anyway, I think this is great news! :D

Very interesting, thanks for posting that. I'd love to hear M and J play w/ Jeremy again....and yes, it would have been pretty neat to have Peter on it also. Come to think of it, it would also have been great to have the former Christine Perfect on it as well. But I guess I should be happy w/ 3 of the 5.

Since this album was already "in the can" and the SYW tour is still happening (since there still are shows booked), The aforementioned "Blues Album" with Jeremy & Peter may still be on the agenda.

Unlike a lot of Buckingham-Nicksfans I really look forward to this one. I think Chris' solo-album is not very good, but she could have a perfect place in this setting!!!

Mick's solo albums I've bought from second-hand shops (where else, anyway, they're not in print) but I guess now I should buy this brand new.

Jackson Browne and Lee Sklar also appear on this album. (I can't stop laughing at the thought of finally seeing Mick Fleetwood and Lee Sklar together.)

This may be old news by now, but since I've not seen it before:

For 35 years Mick Fleetwood has been the drummer in the galactic rock band Fleetwood Mac and has collaborated with co-producer, writer, vocalist and guitarist Todd Smallwood and is the latest ‘find’ in Hall of Famer Fleetwood’s career. Smallwood has spent most of his career working quietly with the likes of luminaries like Jackson Browne, Chaka Khan, Gregg Allman and Gladys Knight.

This surprising and refreshing album is extremely different to Fleetwood Mac stuff and one of the best tracks is ‘Looking Into You’ the Jackson Browne track from his eponymous first album. Sharing vocals with Smallwood is Lauren Evans who seems set to be another star in the making, while Fleetwood also reunites with one time Fleetwood Mac guitarist Jeremy Spencer for the first time in over 30 years, while the ‘Mac’ part of the legendary band John McVie also makes an appearance on the cheerful ‘No Borders’

It’s very hard to pigeon hole this album, and Fleetwood Mac it certainly isn’t, and there’s all sorts of influences seeping through the fabric as it were such as the jungle style ‘Passion’ as well as some definite country music influences.

Although it’s not an immediate type of CD, several plays reveals a well crafted album of superbly played music, with as you’d expect drums brought very much to the fore and I’d have to say that ‘Something Big’ is well worth a listen.
