Debbie Calton on WMGK interviewed her. If you go to WMGK.com you can view it I'm sure.
It was a nice interview. I was at work so it was hard to hear, but it was nice. I really love Debbie ( she interviewed Stevie back in the day too).
Afterwards, they gave out of bunch of copies of "In the Meantime" ( and played the first single) but I didn't win one. I was shocked how long the phones were busy. Lots of fans around!

I don't believe this. This station is in my area & I missed it. I checked WMGK's website & I can't find anything about it.
Janet, what did Christine have to say?

Yeah, I checked thr website and couldn't find anything about it either. This interview was live? My God, is it possible she is right here, mere miles from me? :woohoo:
I'd love to know what she talked about also....

And breathing the same as air as you, Lis. This is very frustrating. If I'd known, I would have turned on my radio.

I e-mailed her too on Sunday morning. I'd hate to think I'm going to miss this interview.

I just got an e-mail back from Debbi Calton. She said that Christine's interview will eventually be posted but it usually does take a bit of time for it to happen. She hopes that by the end of this week it will be posted so that we can download it. Here's a link to the audio room on the WMGK website.

I'm sorry. I thought she was doing a lot of interviews.
Debbie Calton called her in England, she definitely wasn't in town I don't think.
She talked about the album, the songs, she spoke about leaving FM and how she left after the Dance, how it wasn't sudden. She spoke about the Inaugeration, which started everything up again...she sounded good and was very nice to Debbie.
It's a nice interview. Debbie Calton puts everything up. I know she speaks about being a wife and mom too so I guess it takes awhile to put these things up, but she will.:)

Christine's interview with Debbi Calton has now been posted on WMGK's website. The interview is just over 10 minutes long. There are 3 MP3's. Just right click each MP3 & save target as. Then enjoy!

Thanks for the heads up! That was a pretty good interview. She always seems so upbeat, she puts me in a good mood. :)
I didn't realize Dan was 38! He looks younger.

What song is she talking about cutting around, I think the Clinton performance - she talks about how they could not use the Rumors one. Is she talking about Don't Stop - it sounds like she is saying Don't Stop. I thought they did that live for the inauguration. Am I out of my head here

Yeah, she said they re-cut Don't Stop. I don't really understand why they had to do that.....? Maybe all the times the song was played at different conventions etc they used the 're-cut version'? Maybe they made the ending chorus drag out longer...
I know when Kerry had U2's 'Beautiful Day' playing at his convention, the song was a bit different than the original- so i guess that was re-cut too!

That's what I thought too. She also hinted that he might be interested in doing something else in music again.
I always thought that they had done "Don't Stop" live at President Clinton's inauguration.

I wanna know why they had to recut Don't Stop though.

she always sounds so cheerful and happy doesn't she?
She's still getting her dates in a twist though about The Dance and the Clinton inuaguration.
I thought it was Lindsey's solo album that prompted The Dance.

I think this is unusual also. She always mentions the "Don't Stop" thing for the inauguration as to what led to the Dance. I've never ever heard her say anything at all about Lindsey's solo album. Mick & Lindsey always mention the Gift Of Screws sessions as to what led to the Dance.
And, "judicious airbrushing"

She needs a "close up director".
Chris is so down to earth. And I love her for that. :xoxo:

I wanna know why they had to recut Don't Stop though. That's the second or third time she has said that. I wonder what she means. The only explanation I can come up with is that I know Warner rereleased "Don't Stop" as a single to capitalize on the popularity from the campaign. I never actually bought the single or bothered listening to it (nor did anyone I know) because I figured it was just "Don't Stop" off "Rumours." But maybe it was a remix or something akin.
The band played the song live for the gala -- although maybe they went in with some backing tracks, too. It didn't really sound like much pre-taped or sequenced support going on. It was pretty rough, like in the old days. I just seriously doubt all five of them went into a studio to do any recording at that time. Chris says "we" & that might mean she, Lindsey (or not), & maybe an engineer or two.

No, I can't imagine her admitting to something like that. :D Remember all the fuss about Christine's album cover here on the Ledge earlier this year? Alot of fans remarked about the cover being airbrushed. In that radio interview, Chris actually admitted that it was airbrushed & even joked about it. :)

That is so funny. It is okay for CM to use airbrushing as long as she jokes about it. But, damn that Stevie, LB, and the rest of FM for using it and NOT joking about it

Well, I think her "closeup director" pretty much says it all.
Don't ya'all have some twirling etiquette to talk about over on Stevie's board? :sorry:

That's my guess, too. Maybe she "means" re-edited, or remixed. For length, maybe.....

I have the "Don't Stop" cassette-single from 1993, and I don't recall there being anything at all different about it. I usually have a good ear for different versions/remixes, and I don't recall it sounding like anything other than the standard 'Rumours' album version.
Still, it's been an awfully long time since I've played it... I should dig it out again just to be sure.

Eh, just ignore it, Jason... Homer's merely trying to ruffle some feathers. ;)
Of course, he picked an odd angle, given that Stevie's traditionally been the most open member of the band (re: her drug abuse, busted implants, weight gain, and so on).
And I'd figure that blatantly crediting your "close-up director" is pretty much an admittance that you've taken pains to look good.
Anyway... more power to ya, Homey! You do try so hard. ;)

I beg your pardon. We were simply POINTING OUT that Chris OFFERED the fact that the photos had been retouched. Something, IMO, that a princess would never do. That's why Christine is the Queen.
Not, a princess.
The thought of her hiring a closeup director, IMO, would repulse her. And me.
Long live the Queen!

Of course, he picked an odd angle, given that Stevie's traditionally been the most open member of the band (re: her drug abuse, busted implants, weight gain, and so on).Yes, but perspectives on this will vary. Much of it is in how one perceives it.
Did you ever read Agatha Christie's "Thirteen at Dinner"? Not to spoil it for anyone, but the major suspect is a flamboyant actress named Carlotta, who is quite friendly to people & even a great companion, but her conversation with others consists in recounting her own trials & tribulations, successes & squeakers. To say she loves to talk about herself is both an understatement & inaccurate, in a sense. In fact, she's a sociopath: she's unable to listen to other people or consider their point of view or their problems; they're merely cogs in her wheel of self-obsession. Expecting her to empathize with another person's life would be like expecting a fish to tap-dance.
Stevie's not sociopathic (she has a surfeit of feeling & empathy for other people). But what you see as openness with her decades of discussing one problem of hers after another & how she fought back from this & dealt with that (o/~ Ooh, in all of her wisdom ... o/~) strikes others as self-indulgence & self-obsession.
It could be argued that for Christine to casually toss off a self-depreciating but revealing comment like "those pictures are airbrushed" is as revealing & "open" as Stevie spending years pointing out her drug use or Lindsey continually emphasizing how leaving the band was a "survival move."
Have you ever had a friend or an acquaintance who just wasn't inclined to spill his or her guts, but who one day -- out of the blue -- made some brief revealing comment, & you thought, "Whoa"?

I completely know what you mean, David... and I thought Christine's comment was pretty gutsy, too. And especially impressive because she's not prone to being particularly revealing.
I just think it's odd to take what should have been a conversation solely about Christine, and try to throw in a dig towards Stevie... and, at that, a dig which doesn't even have strong legs.
What was the point? What was the purpose? Her name never had to be mentioned (or not-so-subtly self-censored ;) ).
But, of course, I know why the comment was made... Homer has happily admitted that he likes to throw out little digs to rile the Stevie Fans. Unfortunately, Jason took the bait. So my comment was directed at Jason, assuring him that he doesn't need to bother. :)
I say that if we're going to talk about Christine (and we should talk about her, and often), then let's do so without snide digs at anyone else in the band. Christine is refined and sophisticated... I assume she's above such pettiness. :)
