View Full Version : Push-Polled By Bush

After dinner last night, I got a phone call from someone claiming to be from an "independent polling company," only to find out that it was the Bush camp.

They asked if I was going to vote for Bush in November, and when I told them that I most definitely was not, they asked probably the most sickening question I've ever heard in my life:

Knowing that Kerry had cancer and with the knowledge that no one is a cancer survivor until five years have passed where the patient is cancer-free, would you still vote for Kerry?

We have hit a new low in American politics. I called the man a few choice words and hung up. Has anyone else been push-polled?

No I haven't, but that really is despicable. Really, really low.

No, I haven't been push polled. I'm kind of surprised, since I live in a swing state. Did you let the campaign know?

That is absolutely disgraceful. But what do you expect from those thugs? If that jerkoff calls my house, I would remind them of Lance Armstrong winning six Tour de Frances in a row in the six years he has been in remission. What banes of humanity....

LIVESTRONG, KERRY, LIVESTRONG.

Since WHEN is a person considered a cancer survivor after 5 years? Occording to the Doctors we see that would sound like a "B.S. burger"...And I am MARRIED to someone who is surviving cancer (2 more Rad treatments and then it's just quarterly checkups for ol' Deb...)

If ANY pollster (Be it Repub or Demo) called and asked that question to me, My heart would probably become more damaged from the ab-so-F**KING-lute-ly BRUTAL verbal bashing I would hand out.

Btw, CANCER has nothing to do with IF a person can do THE J-O-B!!!!

Despicable, and yet, why am I not surprised?

Of course, I'm sure the Bush Adminstration has nothing to do with this. They don't conduct themselves in ways such as this, you know (*cough*Swift Boat Vets*cough*). ;)

Normally, I don't get involved in these political discussions, but this just made me want to vent.

I'm never surprised at anything that happens in politics, but I will have to say that I think this election is sinking to a new low with that phone call about Kerry with cancer and the "Swift Boat Vets" thing.

I think that the latter one gets me the most. How can George W. Bush set up to attack a man who has volunteered and served during war time, when he never really served at all (Well, if you want to count absentee, National Guard service as serving---I guess you could). Also, the military doesn't just hand out three medals of honor for nothing. I mean come on! Kerry must have accomplished something honorable to receive these. Also, he wouldn't have the support of all the men on his boat the night of his speech, if they didn't respect him and believe in his war record. Also, those same men would know what he did and didn't do in Vietnam. If Kerry wasn't being honorable and truthful, no support would be there. These people who are attacking him in the ads are some of the same people who supported him in his last Senate campaign. There are pictures of some of these same men supporting Kerry at one of his rallies. That is just way to fishy to me---they're supporting his record one minute and not supporting it the next?! (Sounds like money changed hands on that deal to get them to change their minds.) Also, these vets on the commericals weren't anywhere around Kerry and his men in Vietnam. Therefore, how can they make statements about what he did or didn't do?

I would call myself a voter for the best man for the job, and I just can't see how President Bush has helped this country in anyway. I can only see lies and bad decisions from him and his cabinet. I teach school and his educational plan is one of the worst I have ever seen. Iraq is a mess and the timing on going to war with Iraq was terrible. There are just so many things I have examined, and I can only come to one conclusion: I think it is time for him to go, and give someone else a chance. I also think Kerry has an excellent plan for America. Everyone should read it; even if they are unsure or think they are going to vote for Bush. I think it is important to have an open minded about all this. I have definitely tried to have one, and my conclusion is Kerry!

That's just bad polling - plain and simple....perhaps that's why Bush seems to lead in the polls as often as he does...

I took a whole class last year on public opinion and propaganda...and learned all about different polling techniques and what to and not to do...these guys are a complete disgrace to the profession of polling....

 I could hear the guy sighing, but what did he expect when calling someone from Kerry's home state?

Yeah, but it isn't a real polling company, it's the Bush campaign. The whole point of "push-polling" is for one of the camps to pretend as if they're a polling company, but to plant dirty seeds in the minds of the people being polled. If the seeds have any impact on how they would vote, the campaign uses it to attack the other campaign. That's what the Bush camp did to McCain by telling the people being polled that he fathered an illegitimate child while imprisoned at the Hanoi Hilton, that his adopted daughter was the result of an affair with an immigrant, and that his wife was a drug addict.

Have you seen what the sick f*cks at the RNC are all wearing? Every delegate is wearing a fake Purple Heart with a band-aid over them. Now, I'm not a violent person, but if I saw someone wearing that, I would physically attack them. It not only degrades John Kerry's medals, but it degrades and cheapens every other deserved Purple Heart. They should be ashamed. This is the msot pathetic display of "patriotism" I've ever seen; they can wrap themselves in our flag all they want, but the essence of what it stands for has eluded them. Pigs.

I don't know how McCain and Dole can abide that bull****. I heard about the 9/11 survivors exploitation. It smacks of such desperation. Surely they must know by now that they have lost.

A new poll came out showing that 50% of New Yorkers believed that the adminstration knew that 9/11 would happen and 66% wanted a totally new investigation into it.

Rove f*cked up BIG TIME by holding this in New York, it's backfiring so badly that it's embarrassing.

(back after dead phone line restored and recovered from computer withdrawals!)
I gotta say, Im NOT surprised by the Bush Camp tactics, but I AM surprised anyone would fall for it! apparently team Bush has decided that this sort of technique works? Go figure :distress: Let us hope their misguided efforts leave them exactly LAST. I also hope there are going to be watchdogs in FL when it comes time to vote......I wouldnt put it past Dumbya to try a FL redux.

ps: I cant fire Bush, I never HIRED him! and I LOVED the front page pic of the guy wearing the "not my president" t-shirt in front of all those flag draped coffins..........where can I get one of those shirts????? :blob1:

I got push polled twice last week--and I live in South Carolina! I've got three phone lines coming into the house since I work from home--one's my personal line, one I use as my office line, and the third is a dedicated fax line. The first call came into my office line and it was a pre-recorded electronic type of thing. The questions they asked included "Do you support partial birth abortion?" "Are you in favor of gay marriage?" "Do you believe that homosexuals should have rights equal to that of hetrosexuals?" "Do you believe that abortion should be illegal?" "Would you prefer permanent tax cuts as opposed to increases in taxes". And oh yeah, one on school vouchers for private schools. In other words, they hit every conservative "hot-button, wedge issue" in an attempt to shore up the base here in South Carolina! You could only respond yes or no--if you tried to say, as I did, "Hell, ****in' no" you got a electronic response that said "You must respond Yes or No or this phone call will disconnect. I know that I've probably been added to the "Round up and put in internment after election list".

Anyway, two days later, I got the same call on my "home" line. I hung that time.

I posted on Democratic Underground the number that showed up on my caller ID and some enterprising soul found out that it's registered to--surprise, surprise, a Republican-associated group.

So I guess their strategy is something like this--if you live in a Swing State-you're getting the "Cancer" push poll, if you live in a Repug state, you're getting the "hot-button push poll" and if you live elsewhere--you're getting the personal phone calls from Bushie Boy.

Diss-I also read on DU about folks getting similar calls such as yours. How can we get the media to pay attention to the tactics that BushCo is using? Any ideas?

I usually just send faxes and emails to the news outlets. :) If there's a story you find that hasn't been picked up by the mainstream press, send it to as many blogs as possible and then send it off to the press. It's an old right-wing tactic that's catching fire with us nutcases.

And oh yeah, one on school vouchers for private schools.

OMG, check out Sean Hannity's first book from the library just to read the chapter on school vouchers; it's PRICELESS and is guaranteed to give you a night of laughter and fun. :xoxo:

What he says, essentially, is that vouchers will promote competition between public and private schools, thereby getting rid of the "monopoly" (his word) hold that government schools have on the country. To prove his point, he points to what the public school system did in East Harlem. They broke up all of their schools and reformed them into a bunch of little schools with a lower concentration of students in each. He goes on for about three pages about how wonderful the program is, how well it worked, and how it just proves that vouchers work. The problem is, though, that the program he lays out had nothing to do with vouchers...it was the public school systems doing. Al Franken gets into Hannity's insane ramblings in his book, but it really must be read to be believed.
