Did anyone else see this? It was so uncomfortable and strange, the Bush girls came on stage and told everyone to vote for their father and then the Kerry girls were live from New York telling everyone to vote for their father and the Bush girls got booed and then stoped in the middle of their speach and glared at the audience and it looked so uncomfortable! I was cringing!
Then the host came on and said "moving along!"

My question is, why did anyone think that this would go over very well? It really went over like a lead balloon and you couldn't help but be embarrassed for these girls.

Okay... now I have gone into complete confusion!

The girls that were actually at the awards were Kerry's daughters? It is too confusing that they both have two daughters about the same ages.

Yes the girls *at* the VMA's were Kerry's daughters...Bush's daughters were in New York. I think its cool to tell young people (or everybody for that matter) to get out there and vote but I think it was taken just a little too far this year. :(

I saw it and the Bush drunks were booed much more than the Kerry kids. And the Kerry kids came across as more down-to-earth, actually.

I think the message of getting out the vote is important, but I don't think anyone should get on the podium and tell people who to vote for. But, the President Select does it, so...

What do you think their father's thought of all this? And, I'm suprised the Kerry girls got booed so much because I thought the younger generation likes Kerry over Bush.

The younger generation does, they can't stand Bush. Kerry has a double-digit lead in youth polling. A lot of it has to do with Iraq and gay marriage. ;)

I think it depends on what part of the USA u are talking to...I feel vastly outnumbered at my college as a Kerry supporter. I walk through the parking lots and see all the cars with BUSH/CHENEY 2004 W2004, all kinds of bumper stickers...and even in my political science class...it's a Georgia thing I guess.. Georgia has become very conservative, even more so than in 2000...I think in the whole South I would say the youth, on a majority level support Bush...Now the PROBLEM is most and many of them only do so because their parents always did, or they have no reason at all..

But it is interesting to note that it has been since 1988 when Bush was going against Dukakis that the 18-29 yr old vote went majorly to a republican..
In 1992 43% of 18-29 yr olds voted Clinton, compared to the 34 % for Bush and 22% for Perot....and it was even larger in 1996 when Clinton got 53% of the 18-29 vote, and Gore received 48% of this vote compared to Bush's 46% and 5% for Nader.
This election is very different in my opinion, MANY young 18-20 somethings are much more energized during this election, mainly because they saw the whole disaster unfold on tv in 2000 and many had no voice in that election, and then 9/11 came, it was the first major tragedy for my generation that we actually experienced...so we will see..don't underestimate us or "misunderestimate" as Bush says...Things will be diff this year

I saw this...thought both sets of daughters got cheers and also some boos. I didn't take it as the audience being for or against either just annoyed as if the VMA's were being "interrupted" by the message they were bringing which was to get out and vote.

Who wants to watch the VMA's when you've got these people yelling "Vote or die!!" at you every frickin' second. I'd be booing all that mess too.

Because if Bush is re-elected, more WILL die. If those people in the audience of that tits and ass show don't realize that, they don't make the people fo this coutnry look very intelligent.

Just like me, unfortunately.

But, if they want to feign ignorance and still vote for the bastard, they deserve to have their limbs blown off when they're drafted by their "war-time president." It might wake them up.

Ah, I thought he was the "peace president" this week. Did Moore get thrown out of the convention by the Secret Service?

No, he left to speak at a Planned Parenthood rally. The Gestapo saw him rising up to leave, decided to pounce on him, and assaulted an NPR reporter in the process. She was on a little while ago and was pretty shaken by it. Moore shrugged them off and just as he getting into his car, McCain made some kind of gesture to him and Moore responded by making the L sign with his hand. Then McCain went on Harball and criticized Bush for not serving in the Guard and then he shut up real quick when Tweety attacked him over criticizing Moore and his film without seeing it.

And Bush said yesterday that the war on terra cannot be won.

He must. He was on the news earlier saying that he and Kerry aren't friends and that Kerry is fair game. Any respect I had for him went out the window.

And Pickles endorsed the Swift Boat ads on Saturday by saying "good will come of this."

He didnt say that in his interview with Judy Woodruff...he said that he believes it isnt fair to attack his service, but what happened after the war he felt was fair game...and he did say there that he and Kerry are friends, and he said he and Bush are friends as well...so maybe he's saying different things in different interviews?

He is saying different things. Last night on Hardball, he attacked Bush, the man he is campaigning for, for getting into the Guard because of family influence.

A couple of days ago, he was asked about his friendship with Kerry and told the reporter that they weren't good friends and that he had never even been invited to Kerry's house. A couple of hours later, he gave another interview where he said he's had dinner at Kerry's home. The guy is whacked out of his gourd.
