I'm not a huge sports fan, but I love the Olympics. I'll especially be glued to my TV for Gymnastics, Diving, and Swimming. :blob1:

Other than soccer, that's really all I tend to watch as well. Not a big summer olympics fan. However, we have a TV at work and it only gets 3 channels...one being NBC so it's pretty much a given we'll be watching.

I used to run the mile in school, it IS a workout, of course the coaches idea of a workout is to run 2.5 miles and then do sprints

I was all set to plonk down and watch it tonight, then my friend got tickets to the Korean Ballet at Zellerbach on Berkeley campus, so i'm going to that.
But it looked like on the commercials that Beach V-ball is tonight, and i'll be bummed if i miss that.
Softball ( I played softball and volleyball for college, so i love watching)
gymnastics
almost anything else
I'll be watching!

Those poor African nations. Not only do their people starve, but coincidentally they're not particularly good athletes..
Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't a lot of African nations won medals in Track and Field over the years?

I missed the first twenty minutes, but caught all the rest on tape. The show was great. Thankfully I could fast forward through the endless Parade Of Nations. But, I loved the rest of it.
Bjork totally outdid the swan dress. She was perched atop the majority of her dress - a mountain of 35,000 square feet of fabric. It was pulled out slowly to cover the area in front of her and the 11,000 athletes watching. Pretty damned cool. The entire image of the earth was projected onto it.
Spectacular opening.
I will be watching men's swimming, diving, and gymnastics fanatically. Also will watch women's gymanstics.

3 Iceland 3.62
4 Australia 3.03
5 Cuba 2.64 29
5 Jamaica 2.64
6 Norway 2.23
7 Estonia 2.10
8 Trinidad & Tobago 1.70
9 Hungary 1.68
10 Bulgaria 1.67

i believe some of those more-succesful contries' annual expense on sports may equal others' mineral water budget. there are no rules.

Another important piece to note (which contradicts the point of everything I just said), Australians are better swimmers so you can all shove it up your arse.

Yes, that WAS an important piece to note!

This is another important piece to note. I just love the way you write your name like that to your posts, whether it's intentional or unintentional. :)
(Next post #666. I should think of something appropriate for that. ;))

Tommer, I love how you can chat with me in order to make me feel like **** and then come over here and argue with me when I'm down. Just to add that little kick. A most valued friend.
indeed an excellent asset to a true masochist.
anyway, the point i'm trying to make (in case i am indeed allowed to diagree with you, and in a decent manner...) is that money is not the only investment here, especially when poorer nations are concerned.

agreed.
Love so far: Michael Phelps <333 what a cutie! Go, baby, go!
Basketball? I'm watching Puerto Rico whip USA's ass right now. And I'm laughing. I HATE the NBA, which is basically what this is. You people aren't invincible and it's about time you all realized that...

Congrats, Brits! You just won your first diving medal since 1960!!! :D I, too, am fascinated by synchronized diving...
The chinese are starting to piss me off in regards to gymnastics, and also womens v-ball  stupid chinese sports factories... ]
Also, the aussies kicked our men's beach V-ball asses last night - but we gave them the points as we had 4 serving errors in the first game, and a couple in the second...Christ, i've never made that many on a six man team, and in beach V-ball there were only 2 people serving, and i think all the errors were all from the one guy...LAME!!!!
I don't have cable, but i'm dying to watch the women's softball team against someone...if anyone can tape it off Bravo, I will buy it
seriously, though...
AMber "Olympiad" G.
BTW, the Italians won the bike race! And they came in second to British in rowing
Viva Italia!!!! :D
